I joined the Air Training Corps in 1991, aged 13. I recorded the 1992 Beating Retreat on VHS and watched it over and over again... Just rediscovered it after 30 years 🙂

Interesting, that some 8yrs after the SA80 was introduced, the QCS maintained the use of the SLR for public performances

I still have this on VHS but it cut off just after the Queens colour squadron guy lost his lid. Good after so many years to finally see the complete program !

Nah, it must be the current service weapon (which I agree with) since they’re also soldiers rather than just ceremonial dancers with old weapons

@@williamdodds1394 he made a good point, makes sense to be familiar with the current weapon you would be deployed with, as this may be ceremonial aspects but they are still serving soldiers

@@Andy-ScotsIrish-TheGAEL. No I dont think he did first of all sa 80 was badly designed it cannot be used by lefties its heavy for a 556 and it isnt liked by soldiers the a1s were a pile of junk until a2 while the Fn slr was 762 and just needed upgraded most armies are going back to 762 or 6.8 as the usa are doing the LMT which is a good design is 762 when fired on auto it has no muzzle climb a better weapon as was tested by chris in smallarmsolutions the brits have to bum the sa80 up its all they have while usa has dozens of designs in AR mode if you look at how israeli tavor was designed its lighter can be used by lefties has a 762 option as well and is soled widely in usa and else were and in service with other nations britain cannot design anythng good now days look at the ajax project terrible indeed .
