Drive By Truckers with Isbell - Aweome! - DBT's without Isbel- Awesome! - Isbell alonr & with 400 Unit - Awesome,. No such thing as too much good music !!!
EXACTLY!!
Yes !
Truth. Fucking truth.
I'm someone who found Jason Isbell when he was doing his own thing with the 400 hundred unit. He's my favorite musician on the planet right now. Ive enjoyed diving into stuff like this when he was young rocker with the Drive By Truckers. Really enjoyable. It's amazing how far he has come.
it appears we have 45 haters who rather be listening to Rascal Flatts.

Fuck them. We ain't never gonna change.
To the negative You Tube fans, spend your time enjoying the music you like. If you don't like something, just move on. Do you really think trying to convince fans of music THAT OTHERS LIKE is not enjoyable? Music is subjective...duh! Just move on son, just because you are miserable, doesn't mean that you have to be negative. I am here because I dig this band, if you don't, there are other places for you to enjoy yourself! Well, of course if that is even possible in your case! So many bitter trolls on You Tube!
Well said my friend!!!
Well said!
Who clicks on this and then is like...I don't like this sonic and auditory experience....yea....can we get some real music
Dirty South and Decoration are my 2 favorite albums. Alot of my favorite songs are Isbell songs. But my number 1 of all time song is Sweet Annette a Patterson Hood song
"Mike Cooley is a ROCK GOD!!" - Some guy at the bar in Pittsburgh.
Some guy at the bar in Pittsburgh is correct😁
He’s not wrong
Yeah, Mike is my favorite member of the band. Like to see him do some solo shows
possibly the most underrated band of all time.
Not by critics that's for sure. There are few bands as critically loved as DBT.
BOth my favorite bands are underrated, DWT and Kings X.
Watched this the night they were on Conan. Met them a few months later in Charlotte before they opened for the black crowes
Saw them all live twice before Isbell left. Once at the Fillmore in SF when they were so happy to be playing in the historical Fillmore. They are an American band that understand both the musical and social history they are in and come from. Such a great band. Too bad Isbell left (got pushed out?). For a couple of Albums they were the Beatles of Southern Rock, three great songwriters in one band. Absolute joy to watch and wear. The Dirty South is one of the best American rock albums in the last 20 years. Real stories about real people having hard times. Rock on DBT!
Isbell was asked to take a break and get right but he wouldn't so they kicked him out.
@@Scoots1994 Yea even by Isbell's own admission, they were right to do so. He was a mess.
The Beatles of southern rock... Listened to these guys for 20 years and that never crossed my mind. Thanks for that comparison. I'll be doing the math on that for awhile
I will forever love this band, and Jason Isbell's band. This is where its at for me.
I've only seen them once and it was in Memphis and Jason was still with them then. I remember asking Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood if it was OK with them if I set up my mics and DAT machine and tape the show... they said yeah cool man... talking gear with Jason that night on their break inspired me to buy the same Marshall Amp head JCM 900 ... I still have it today.... nice time talking to him about our college days... he went to Memphis State and I went to Ole Miss..... those was the best of times
This was DBT dream team.
Hell yes. It's great seeing Tucker and Isbell in the band!
Jason Isbell is a Legend
Him leaving the DBT was the best thing he ever did....that band is a dead end road......
true.....i quess he got lucky
jason cox hey, have you listened to American band? Appreciate that they're still going strong and trying! Sure they had a few not so good albums but English oceans, American band... They're back on track so, think about what you're saying next time.
@@gorke9889 American Band was too openly, viciously , anti Trump. The music suffered.
@@jasoncox7910 Idiotic statement. Mike is the songwriter, Jason brought the bluesy vibe, and Patterson is a storyteller. Three almost-unique bands. I see DBT and Isbell whenever I can. You keep bashing them; I'll be at 40 Watt in the middle of February catching the Truckers, and Isbell when he's nearby.
This is awesome. Isbell looks like he’s 13 years old. One of DBT’s best songs. Love all the iterations of DBT throughout the years.
This song rocks even better in 2018 with Isbell and 400 Unit
Mike Cooley is the George Harrison of southern rock. Change my mind.
I don’t know, I always felt Isbell was the Harrison of the Truckers. Great song writer obviously, but had trouble getting on the albums because there were so many Hood and Cooley songs, which would make Hood McCartney, and Cooley Lennon imho
@@joegibbskins I see where you're coming from. But, when Isbell joined the band he started getting multiple songs on every record. And after what, decades together, Cooley was still only getting one or two songs in? Maybe it's that he was/is more serious about writing and didn't just crap out the same chords with new lyrics like Hood, who literally wrote the same song over and over on all their records? And don't get me wrong, I love Hood's songs... But many of them are seriously just repetitions.
@@lr6884 I remember an interview with Hood about a decade ago where he claimed he writes several hundred songs a year and Cooley writes between 3-7. So I think Hood cranks them out and then chooses what he thinks is best and Cooley only writes something when he feels inspired. Honestly, I like Cooley’s song writing the best of the Truckers including Isbell (post-truckers sober isbell is in another stratosphere both in output and quality).
Jason’s guitar playing has improved in light years since then
Great to see true talent still exist and from Bama too , awesome!!! Everyone is great and lead guitar wow
My introduction to this great band 18 years ago. Thanks, Conan!!
This band was unstoppable when they had Isbell. They are still great, but having three amazing songwriters put them head and shoulders above the rest.
Greatest DBT lineup, greatest DBT album. As good as it gets.
Great Band!
Ridic too bad they couldn't workout their differences because they had the magic when egos aligned. Jason Isbell is a stud
Best lineup of the best band.
lol.. Cooley didn't write this one. If you want to hear it live anymore, you have to catch it @ an ISBELL show.
Respect to DBT for not playing any of Isbell's songs after he left. :-)
+Johnny Smokestack Ive seen them do Never Gonna Change multiple times without Isbell, and Cooley sings it.
No shit! I was not aware.
+Max Katzen I call bullshit. Cooley has never sang this song. And DBT hasn't played it since jason left the band. You were drunk.
+Johnny Smokestack I doubt JI would mind, He and Patterson Hood are on good terms and by his own admission he deserved to be fired. Sobriety has given him clarity that's only intensified his poetic genius.
Drummer never gets a handshake
Thunderbomber , the northern section of rock'n'roll is Detroit !
Fuckin classic line up...I miss those days!
He's obviously not. Dude ur comment had me in stitches for a minute. They also don't rehearse together cuz thats what breaks up bands.
Jason still closes shows with this. It sounds better now for so many reasons.
Probably because he isn't on a shitload of drugs anymore
Lots of comments about Isbell, Cooley and Hood, but I really liked when Shonna was playing bass. I mean, she rubs fried chicken on her bass strings... Cooley aint do that!
we ain't never gonna change, we ain't doing nothin' wrong.....
Oh yeah, Mike Cooley is my hero!!!
And the DBT's will procure and a 3rd generation of Southern Rock will shake the waves. a question: why was there never a Northern Rock section claimed?
I was a devout Atheist until I heard Mike Cooley play guitar, now I know Gods do exist...
awsome solos!
wow, jason looks so thin here.
thanks for uploading.
You should see him the last few years haha
@@CalebDBarnes Should we tell them about COVID?
Kevin Kinney and the golden palominos album a good country mile has a great version of this song.
It’s almost kinda strange to see Jason with these guys, now, even though it seemed completely appropriate at the time.
Either way - it’s still great.
what a bunch of wild men! Between Jason, Patterson and Mike you can't hardly find better song writers!
Cooley....that boy can write a dam good story
This is Jason's song
Love how they play in this, not loving that they edited themselves for tv. Never noticed it until now…left out a whole verse and just threw in an earlier chorus.
Yeah I kinda wish they Never did Change! Even though they're all still making great music in their own right!!
you are correct my friend
Some hilarious very pointy trolling there, senor baburjabal, but after rebelling against the music of their highschool parking lot DBT decided that side of the story should be told 3 guitars and all. It's only rock n roll, but I like it. Neruda is fun to read, but you can't rock to it.
If you don't like the genre, then hey, you don't like it. But DBT rocks it. Even George Wallace has got soul. Even George Wallace has got it. Soul. We truck drivers, cabbies, cashiers, farmers, clerks... maybe don't see Mana. Maybe do. Still got soul... "A Revolutionary is motivated by True Feelings of Love"--Che
Brodzky nice Neil Young reference
They have came a long way from Northwest Alabama. They all have did really well with their musical careers .
I don't know. I was around seeing them play back then. It was raw, dirty, sloppy. It was rock & roll and it was great. Just my opinion
Jason Isbell is a badass. End of story.
It's a First Act Custom Delgada with a Bigsby tremolo. I don't care for most First Act guitars, but that thing is killer.
What the hell is the that thing that Jason's playing...it looks like something he picked up in a backstreeet market in Istanbul!
Its a fender jazz master or mustang. It was big in the 90s with grunge bands.
Word.
DBT where putting out albums before Isbell, and they still putting out after him.
I like DBT but Isbell was a kid and had the wrote the best songs on the albums. He is in another league. DBT is badass but Isbell is a game changer.
Fuck yeah
The DWT were great before, during and after the Isbell era so lets stop with the BS that DWT arent good without him.
"mean like the people here" has a extra significance when they play in NYC
Isbell rocking an Ice Man, love it.
Not an IceMan
Wow
Do we know what year this is?
The Dirty South had just come out.... So 2004-2005?
DBT is legit... but all the credit should go to Isbell
Roll Tide
Put down the pipe and call 1-800-give me a brain.
There was just to much talent on one stage...
And then there's Patterson
@@tankthefrank100 ?
Dude, they all sing lead at one time or another. Not familiar with DBT?
Yeah Patterson and Cooley do most of their songs
Why? Why is Cooley's old guitar so ugly?
wow i expected a much hairier lead singer
This is back when DBT was good...
William Turner because they still had Isbell haha
@@madronnie9725 eh brighter than creation’s dark and southern rock opera are arguably their two best albums and Isbell wasn’t around for them (I’d probably give it to dirty south or decoration day), and Isbell was there for a blessing and a curse which is widely considered the worst album of aughts era truckers
Possibly the most overrated band of all time
It's a Gibson Corvus. They flopped bigtime for obvious reasons. Yeah, fugly.
"You All" look like little kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We all love Isbell, but Cooley will be the man when it's all said and done.. Just watch and listen yall😉
No way.
Haha....Joke - Like Cooley....Isbell is a once in a generation talent
JASON isbell Will be one people are talking about 30 yrs from now. He is special. 2018 will be huge for JI. Dude is one of a kind and a poet.
Sorry but as good as Cooley is, Isbell will be the man in the end.
This aged well...
Pre SJW Truckers sure got the job done.
They were always SJWs. And they still get the job done.
You just weren’t really listening.
Have you ever thought about cleaning the shit outta your ears, Bertram?
you know, nirvana wrote a song about people like you called "in bloom". you should give it a listen
they should have called this band " one to many guitars"
No such thing.
Back when DBT was a good band and not a bunch of political wannabes.
Exactly!!! That last album was an embarrassment.
you must've never been a fan if you think they're just now getting political and disagreeing with your stupid ideas
@@rudywilliams6538 I'm not just now thinking that. This post was two years ago.
This is a Tom Petty rip off. Great garage band.
