    I think Bill has something here. There's something unique to having a show that explores the unique relationship between a head coach and his top assistants and a head coach and the team executives/ownership. If he can sort of hone in on that niche, I think he might really have stumbled upon something only really Bill could pioneer. Very cool if he can stick the landing.

    Bill is changing the way we see football while he's out. I saw him on Pat McAffee's show and someone asked him about "half time adjustments" and he answered "If you need to make adjustments, why are you waiting for halftime?". Boom. Just blew up that trope. And that's just one of many. I really really hope he's working with someone on an autobiography. I'm dying to really hear his side of the story of his career. Especially those molehills Spygate and Inflategate (which was actually nothing).

    • @martinmcbeth6578
      @martinmcbeth6578 2 месяца назад +1

      @@413TomaccoRoad Yeah, that's strange one because Coach Belichick is credited as the coach who started the trend of deferring to the second half. The reason being that after identifying changes to the game plan you didn't have to show your hand until after half-time discussion, and you had first possession in the third QTR. I remember Belichick saying literally the same thing as @413TomaccoRoad.

    • @michaelcorcoran8768
      @michaelcorcoran8768 2 месяца назад

      @@413TomaccoRoadBut if you're prepared you do not need a quiet place to make adjustments. If you're well coached and know the correct lingo and everybody knows their job, these are conversations you should be able to have on your headset and on the sideline.

    • @lucaseric8679
      @lucaseric8679 2 месяца назад

      @@martinmcbeth6578 they both mean the same thing in my opinion.
      Not waiting untill half means start adjusting from the start of the game and not waiting till youre down 3 touchdowns to plug some gaps.
      But halftime, with the benifit of the game stopping and the team being indoors and in a much better position to go through those changes, and any additional ideas/tactics and really consolidate the changes, any future changes and what the game from then on is going to look.

    • @KingMuncheez
      @KingMuncheez 2 месяца назад

      When he quantified it down to about the first 15 plays which is usually termed as the opening script does indicate what a teams goals are for that game, what they want to establish, what they can/can’t do are with those plays, so it actually makes so much sense to just adjust to that first. That really stuck out to me too.

  • @jordangreen7824

    Bill’s the best. Very few people are able to focus on the team first and not care what anyone thinks of him. Seriously, i loved MB but he was a very streaky player, similar to Kyle Arrington from a few years before. Bill put a value on a player and said "We'll give you this, if you think its low, go to FA and get paid, maybe we match, maybe we don't." That's how it SHOULD be. Butler got overpaid in Tennessee. Bill turned no names into legit CBs for 2 decades. I'm sure you wanted him to overpay JC Jackson too... How's he doing? In fact, Bill has turned more UDFAs into multimillionaires than any other GM. People always talk that SB loss to the Eagles... Go look at the CB who didn't play because he was on IR, the Pats missed him far more than Butler in that game. (Hint, he's still on the Patriots today.)

    Tom Coughlin was a winner, but nobody wanted to play for him.
    He learned to show more of himself to his players than his hardass coach side, and then he won 2 super bowls. I think Bill and Patricia are smart to be showing that they're able to be a bit more affable and attractive to work with.

    Ok, hear me out. I was in marching band in high school. My son is in high school marching band. The message is the same. That first time you go out, you're all pumped up. And then the result isn't what you thought it was going to be. But it's what you do from that point that tells the tale moving forward. I used to marvel at the football players. Out there, sweating through practice. Just like us. However, our wins and losses didn't affect the community the same way. Even though there was pressure on both of us, we didn't feel the pressure like our football team did. It was competition all the same, but with football, it's just different. Not in the way your fans expect excellence, but in the way those on the field are exerting energy to win. Week after week, I watched our team go out and lose. Yet, they never looked like they were taking the day off. That inspired us to never take the day off. And we had a level of excellence to maintain with our band. What I'm trying to say is, it takes a team effort to be excellent. Regardless of sport or art. I am in awe of these coaches and their ability to convey the most important things in the game we love. Bill Belicheck, Matt Patricia, and Mike Lombardi are masters at their craft. Especially Belicheck. These are the most successful coaches in history. Yet, they've also had hardships. When it's all said and done, these men will be remembered as tier 1 NFL coaches. And their ability to coach people to be better than they already are, is what makes them great men!

    I just can't get over how almost everything lombardi says sounds like it's from one of the scouts from Moneyball, just very few stats or reason to back it up but more of a pure football guy feel for if they like a player or not. No juice in his lower body, lots of sayings, quoting the people he's with just consistent on this show and Pat's show. Very interesting

      Not me. He always drove me nuts as a head coach how he’d do press conferences like a sulky teen. This is brilliant though - I can feel myself getting smarter 😀

    It will be great if the team can do a deeper dive on a major game between two good teams or a major upset.

    Patriots went to 3 Super Bowls after starting 0-2.
    The SB's were 1985, 96, and 2001.
    Important..? Yeah, but not a death sentence by ANY means.

    It’s been close to three decades since I’ve last seen the Polaroid sleeve for a blank VHS 📼. Got any old film in Betamax?
