    Literally just put my order in for an Ora 03. Test drove it last week and really liked it, got a lease direct with the dealer as it was the best deal for the colour combo we wanted. 3+35, 10k miles a shade over £200 a month. Just the petrol savings alone of scrapping my 2006 Mini will almost cover the cost of the lease!

      @DefinitelyNotAGuru it's a brilliant, low cost, low risk way to get out of a petrol car. Just need an EV to come along that can replace my Nissan Elgrand (NOT the ID Buzz!) and I'll never have to stop at a petrol station again.

    So in effect the real cost of leasing a car per month is the monthly cost, plus the up front payment spread across the months you have it on lease for? So if you lease a car for £200 a month for 24 months with an upfront cost of £1200 your monthly cost is really £250 per month. (As long as you don’t go over the allowed mileage or scratch it down a Cornish hedge!)

    Hi Jim , great videos as usual , can you do a spot on higher mileage? Looking to lease on 15k per year , 2years , 3mths upfront. Any advice? specific vehicles? EV or ICE

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  День назад

      Usually the best deals will still be the ones in the video regardless of mileage, but always the case but it often is. So on 15k you’ll be paying more than shown in the video but those deals will likely still offer some of the best value.

    Can you answer a question I have the ‘upfront payment’ you speak of on leases, is that a deposit or just the initial cost you have to pay. Just I always buy a car outright and I know you like Leasing so I just want to understand what’s involved and the full cost of leasing over the 2 or 3 years whatever. Thanks

    I think in the last 2 years I’ve seen 1 or maybe 2 Ora 03/Funky Cats max. Around here in rural Central Scotland I;m seeing lots and lots of Toyota BZ4X’s / Subaru Solterras but lately there are lots and lots of new Ford Explorers on 74 plates on the roads. Apart from my own new Mini Countryman S E I’ve only seen one other but quite a few of the new Cooper E/ S Es

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  5 дней назад

      It’s probably a fake price or a crazy lease profile (4 years, 5k miles, 12 months upfront). A lot advertise false deals to get you on the phone or to get your information too.

    • @jamesraisonx
      @jamesraisonx 4 дня назад

      Perhaps you have it set up with different criteria? The default leaseloco deal was £262 a week or two ago, but that was 9+23, 5k miles - the 403.91 deal Jim's pricing up is setup up quoting 3+35, 10k pa ?

    Thanks, your channel has helped me to seriously consider leasing my next car. However, as this will be an electric I am concerned about the situation with Chinese EV's. If large tariffs are introduced by the UK government, following the US(100%) and the EU (tba) then this might effect the brands support in the UK and the cost of spares etc... We have seen issues even with Tesla for insurance and getting spare parts... Chinese EV's could end up much worse. What is the opinion currently on this ?

    • @paulacklam1172
      @paulacklam1172 5 дней назад

      @@grumblewoof4721 why would a tariff on "vehicles" affect the price of the spare parts?

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  5 дней назад +1

      It wouldn’t bother me, particularly on a lease.

    • @grumblewoof4721
      @grumblewoof4721 4 дня назад

      @@paulacklam1172 I am not sure which is why I asked. If high tariffs means less cars sold then there is less need to service them and hold spares. The tariffs might cause the Chinese manufacturer to go bust (China's economy is in a bad way at the moment) and then there would be no spares or they would be very expensive. I am not sure how tariffs work but I could imagine that they might apply to all aspects of the EV car including spares. But I guess we will see.

    • @grumblewoof4721
      @grumblewoof4721 4 дня назад

      @@DefinitelyNotAGuru Thanks, I see that leasing does give some assurances over ownership. What made me think about spares was the story about a Tesla owner who waited a year to get a windscreen from Tesla so the car was unusable (I don't think it was a lease). IF something happened so that the car could not be driven, could you cancel a lease and get a new lease with a different car ?
