6 months sober from alcohol and all drugs after 20 years of alcoholism and addiction. I don’t just have my old life back; I have a greater life than ever before.
Coming in at 2.5 yrs clean over here - life has absolutely never been better! Feel better now at 36 than I felt at 16! (When the drinking started) All the best dude
I know how it is. Since I stopped drinking, all my plans and projects that used to be always left behind, just get DONE. Wish I had quit earlier but better late than never.
I quit drinking for from 2013-2018, because I genuinely had a problem. I drank just about every day. In the past 2 years I started drinking occasionally, never letting myself get drunk. I feel good to have control over myself, and if I don't want it. I don't drink it. Took a lot of work, and not everyone can so that. Anyone dealing with alcoholism or addiction, I hope you find your way.
ive been sober for 4 years now and not that im tempted but i always have wondered how i would do if i started drinking in moderation. im too scared to try it so i havent but its cool to hear a story like yours where you got sober and learned moderation....

are you still using moderation or has your drinking increased again? just curious, everytime i go back to drinking it goes back to being a problem for me.
I quit for 2 years then had 2 beers the other night, tasted good but made me feel like shit, once ur off it u realise how different it makes u feel when it’s back in ur system, back to water for me
I quit for 6 months then I had a drink and you're absolutely right. It tasted amazing with the warmth and everything but I couldn't remember the song I was listening to and I really felt awful the next day. Not hungover just like unmotivated. I couldn't get the smell off me too for a while. I realized I miss the taste and the early feelings of intoxication but after that short feeling it's just a downer.
I cringe watching some of these younger pro skaters drinking in their parts because It’s going to catch up with them sooner or later. I get it but it’s still a bummer to watch.
@iTzDaRFYoDa 12357062 the problem is that drugs such as weed dont make u dangerously unqualified to skate at the level that you could when sober. Alcohol on the other hand...
Shit just inspired me to skate more and quit drinking, I got a full 9 to 5 always look forwards to the weekend to skate but end up drinking instead at 19, gotta switch it up
Just drink for special occasions. No need to be 100 percent sober. If you have a problem and cant moderate. Quit and get help if you need it...If you can be responsible, there is nothing wrong with drinking to celebrate a special occasion.
Good work man, dont look back, quitting was the best choice ive made, thats the only thing i changed and i went from broke to being financially comfortable in like 8 months, lost 50 lbs. Booze is fine if you control it, i cant so i just leave it on the shelf for someone else
@@travis6694 im a pipe fitter for a landscape company, i was just wasting money on booze, then bad dexisions while drunk like ordering a ton of food and passing out while it spoils, dumb shit like that, i didnt get rich getting sober but i just spend what i make the rigjt way and its comfortable now
When you see others sitting next to you drinking that may or may not have addiction issues, It brings out some weird shit at times. I can be around wasted young idiots, only for a few seconds.
I used to skate when I was around 12-14 and stopped for over 20 years. I was drinking nearly every single day from around 20-34 until I had a health scare and had to quit. I recently started skating again and never want to stop. My body feels like im in my twenties again and im about to be 35. Alcohol sucks. Its insane how much better shape my body is in now. I skate every day I can. I suck for now but I'm slowly getting better.
Today’s day 3 for me.... again. I’m determined not to relapse this time. I went through something very traumatic which drove me to booze to self medicate. I decided quitting drinking is my 2021 resolution.

Most skaters fall victim to alcohol and or drugs … think about it ..obsessive personality.. want to do nothing but skate … then you get older … then you become obsessive on getting fucked up … happened to me
I love having couple of good craft beers so much that I don't want to abuse it. I cherish it so much. When I open the beer I know is my time to realx and it puts me into chill mood right away. I stop being nervous,I stop worrying so much,I stop over-thinking shit. On other hand I hate going out and getting drunk. You run into trouble, your head hurts the next day ...is just not a good life choice. But buy yourself two nice beers, drink them slowly, turn something interesting to watch and you will have a lovely evening. Helps with sleep also.
Everyone is different but tracking my sleep opened my eyes to “helps you sleep”. I’d guess if you tracked it you find better sleep when not drinking. For me 2 craft beers would drop score 20-30 points easy.
The problem is when you have one drink and then have the urge to drink more and more until you black out. That's when you know you're an alcoholic. It really doesn't matter if you only do it on the weekends.
