I've been fortunate to go to Londolozi twice in my life. Once in 1999 and once this year, 2023. This was so incredible to listen to. Both times I have been I have tried to explain to people the experience there and the word I come back to is always "magical". It is truly beyond words and if you can go, it will be food for your soul beyond any price. Every minute I am there I feel filled with unbelievable gratitude. The Varty family have left and continue to leave a legacy of love and respect for animals and our earth.

I used to dislike being around dogs because I had been brought up with the idea that animals are wild and do not belong inside homes. I had some fear of them, and a disgust reaction to their beast-like features until well I to adulthood. Then one day, I walked into a relative’s home very near tears after a particularly grief inducing encounter. The moment I opened the door, her large dog came running toward me unable to contain her concern. Up until then I had been keeping my distance from her while staying there. She was audibly whimpering and in a panic unable to know what to do for me as she pawed at me and licked me. Suddenly I started to ball my eyes out. It was a complete release of all my inner turmoil and sadness. No human could have communicated the type of untamed, unconditional love that animal gave me that moment on that day. My life has never been the same. She made me a better, kinder person. It was as if she drilled through every trauma I had ever had and knew them all intimately. The depth of emotional understanding was one I will never be able to fully comprehend. No human could have given me what she gave me that moment, that day.

Tim, I first heard your interview with Martha Beck- which was incredible. Then this video with the same guy that she was talking about that she met on that preserve when he was 22. The whole thing gives me chills. I absolutely love what this man is saying and have said many similar things, but much less eloquently, about humans, nature and healing. About equine therapy do it! Just do it. You will not be disappointed. If you're ever in the in Bay Area check out Jessica Pinto. She does equine therapy and she's quite amazing. She's out at Muir beach. I had an incredible experience with her horse there. Powerful healing.

Tim! One of my favorite aspects about your podcasts is the consistency of finding interesting people from all disciplines that I have yet not learned from or researched.
I've been hearing about this book and Boyd Varty for a while now and it's been on my list. It's such a treat and a great surprise that it's on your podcast that I see him come up (and it's a long conversation as a cherry on top!). I think the quality of your questions strike a great balance between being specific (prior homework) yet allowing for room to play in conversation while the guest answers.
Thanks so much for this episode and thanks again to you and Boyd for your work. I'm really looking forward to watching!
    Best wishes to both.

Tim, this interview was not only 2x but rather 5x to 10x more powerful and relatable than I went in expecting. I knew it would be interesting and fun but the stories were really powerful and brought up things for me as I listened (wisdom in ancient traditions, martial arts, processing traumatic events, and more....). Amazing conversation and deeply grateful to both! Definitely worth revisiting. Still have 30 mins to go :)
PS. ended up searching Dr. Martha Beck and got her book as well. What a blessing it must have been for Boyd to have had her as a mentor.

I am doing the Camino de Santiago this year, but I know next year I will be traveling to Londolozi. I left a message with the family and they said they will help with scheduling a meeting with Boyd if he is available when I visit. I sure hope to meet this incredible man. Thank you Tim for this gift. I can't wait to visit Londolozi.

This ep is so awesome - Been listening to your show for about 4 months now and I don't know how it works but every time I listen I find myself thinking damn this is so interesting and then this thought progresses to - how does this dude know exactly what I'm looking to hear more about in this moment in my life??! I don't know how this works but man but thank you for providing hyper relevant content for my journey so consistently. context: I started meditating 5 months ago, new year decided I'm going to train for a marathon, have a life time love for science and technology and I am a park ranger naturalist by profession...

I love your conversations about different attitudes on the lifestyle, but this talk speaks best to our emotional states and how being exposed to the wilderness and investing in experiences are more important than stuff around us.
