I've been a life long fan of Margaret Atwood but I've never heard her speak before. This was delightful and I love her sense of humor. Thanks for putting this together for all of us. I'm a new subscriber.
I am very seriously crushing on Margaret Atwood…I mean, wow~layers and layers of wit, fascinating and delicious smarts. *[sadly, I missed Hand Maid’s Tale wave both by book and TV, so wasn’t aware of Margaret Atwood but will get to a book asap to start my indulgence in this brilliance. Wow. Just wow.]
Tim, I feel so nourished by your intelligence, depth, and humor, and by your skillful balance as an interviewer---being provocative without interfering. You and Margaret Atwood are such good playmates! What a pleasurable, inspiring conversation! Thank you both.
Margaret Atwood is so interesting and fun to watch and listen to. I love her books... her characters are very real, no holds barred. She has such a great sense of humour and exudes vitality not often seen in an 80+ year old. Her interaction with the younger interviewers is so wonderful. Long live Margaret Atwood! You still have so many "doors" to open.
My head is just spinning after listening to this podcast. So many ideas, inspiration, creativity and poked curiosity about many things. So inspired I am now watching it here to see their body language. Tim did a super job preparing for this interview. And Margaret, she was very interactive and curious about Tim's views and life. Love it Love it.
I am a poet and writer with a tech background. When poetry “comes to me” I can attest that it is like “channeling” in the spiritual way... outside (often) . Like hearing an incoming train in the distance getting louder and I panic trying to find something to write with (thank God for iPhone’s notes app) and “capture it” before it “leaves”. Occasionally, I fool myself into thinking “Oh, it’s fine, I will remember it later when it’s convenient.” Nope, never... and the times between seem to get longer if I ignore it. I have some of her books and intend to read them as one approaches reading a book from a mentor.
You definitely have elevated the podcast medium and in so doing, I believe that at least this episode ( also, in no small way, elevated by your guest) will live on in the ethereal.
Tim, you're an amazing person, and your guest list are so vast and diverse. I'm immensely grateful to your podcast. I have benefited from the content of your show in a way I don't the words to describe. The questions you ask your guest are often questions I was looking for an answer for so long. You're my hero and to so many people. Margaret Atwood is one my favorite writers! Thank you Tim 😊
Maybe that’s why i became a writer lol growing up in the woods. Our imaginations were our biggest entertainment. We didn’t have computers, cell phones etc and we were basically expected to stay outside all day. I’m grateful for having that experience though
Coincidentally, Gayman's episode was my first, and it led me to this one. You ranking them as top first and second makes me wonder if it only goes downhill from here. I hit subscribe anyway 😊
I find it interesting a lot of the ideas she is discussing in living utopias are questions we try and answer in architecture. Mushroom bricks, vertical farming, elderly… I guess literature and architecture are more alike than I thought ahah
I really enjoy your connection on this podcast feel like l am sitting in watching two friends getting know each other. Different from The Lion Trackers guide to life from yesterday. Have his book and l just started what l could could get at my library Catch the wild. You seriously have been on my own journey when l read 4hr body so time ago. I heard of you in cracks, and it pass trough my mind that probably you've already interview her, so I so happy to meet you in this way, It’s a delightful interview, thanks, i'm your new follower.
Tim brilliant as always - Margaret what a joy thank you - just what I needed in my creative work tonight - so often I see 'curiousity' as the reason people are calm entering into the scary world of creativity ... Judit Polgar said when all other women players were anxious entering a tournament with Gary K and others, she was curious on what they could do' or 'what she openings and gaps she could find. My trouble creating is so often when I put pressure on myself to 'output' the end result from the beginning - I am stretched into the future of the creation I think I want to create. And never is it that way - it's always ALWAYS! different, and better because it is - so let go, let it flow, be curious, dive in screaming, and let go of any rigid end results and let the vision of what made you start rise up inside you and carry you along 🙏 You can create what you long create, but it will be in reality when it finally comes out, often different to the warped vision first seen through the lens of hte ego
Atwood makes a great point about labels.... First we create a stereotypical label that references a pattern of behavior in some people. We then crystalize and make the stereotype more extreme and rigid as a way of attacking the label. We then apply the label to anyone who gets anywhere near the stereotype. We then attack anyone with the label as crazy or sub-human. Then we have label camps and label wars and ask people to pick sides. When we identify with a label we have to defend it in opposition to others because now we are defending our identity. The extremists within any group/cult then attack the moderates within the group/cult for being "weak" and demand more extreme positions. To avoid being thrown out of the group or attacked most moderates then go silent and pretend some conformity out of fear. Then the group is defined by the extremists on both sides, which is the basis for villainizing the other side. This is how the 7% of extremists in the population split the majority into social/civil war.
Google recorder, only on pixel phones or a custom install - most accurate dictation software I've used - after recording the link is available directly on your computer via web link too, which saves downloading and copy paste etc - I re-do dictate after first one so a re-write
I don't know if you'll get this message, Tim, but I don't think your interviews are "ephemera." Some that I've listened to are the the most interesting expose's of artists I've ever seen.
There are acres and acres of dead malls and unused Wal-Marts that could be converted into local truck farms with power and water and such already there...why can't those be converted through exercise of eminent domain into community-run diet-enhancing garden spots?
What Tim doesn't understand about being a breeder, is that he is almost aged out, so his value if he is relegated to breeder is currently deminimus at his age, so he may be the one thrown out the window. Things men don't think about and maybe should.
FYI for dictation software, I used to use the dragon app with my bizarre accent being half Brazilian half Danish/British American it never understood me. I like "otter" and it comes in an easy app for the iPhone and iPad and it does a recording of it so if it does fuck up what I say I can correct it and know what I said from the recording. I also like that it adds things like periods and commas because I like to just talk expressively and let my thoughts flow, then nitpick later. I also find it fascinating because I am writing about overcoming Traumatic experiences where I was almost murdered and survived with severe brain damage that crippled me for life creating a severe case of multiple sclerosis. Some days my hands work ok and others not at all so this app has helped me sooooo much except when I say the wrong words lol but if it could know what I meant that would be too creepy lol. It has benefits I didn’t even think of before as well, such as when I find it fascinating to capture moments where I am emotionally processing those things and I can tell how long I disassociated emotionally from the recording. I would blackout and go somewhere else and it is longer than it feels, sometimes shorter than it feels but the time never feels the same as moments of intense emotion, including intensely happy which also clouds judgment which is why it is used for gaslighting. I appreciate the way it’s set up and it works perfectly for my very complex needs so I highly recommend it. Now I barely have to correct it unless it’s a weird ancient word from my spiritual or shamanic practices etc. Thank you for letting us in on this lovely chat, Sending you both love and I hope you continue to learn, grow and share that through your various creations that make the world a healthier place for us all to have a higher chance to thrive. 💖

Wow I know Mr Maxwell Morgan . I met him at a conference in carlifornia 2019 where he introduced us his business strategy, he helped me cover my student loans
I also trade with Mr Maxwell Morgan , and i must say he makes money making seem a whole lot easier right now I'm a single parent and i pay the bills comfortably since i met Maxwell Morgan he's absolutely amazing and I'd recommend him for any novice in crypto.
The Handmaid's tale has many parallels with certain places in the world today, but it's not the west. Does she know this? Will she admit this? Has she travelled much?
That's pretty funny given A Handmaid's Tale is a glorified fetish novel more concerned with what the characters are wearing than the actual dystopia. Another great example of how what is popular is downstream from power.

There literally are no sufficient words to express how wonderful this was...at least not unless Margaret herself were to do it! ❤💫
Absolutely love her mind, her wit, the way she talks, and of course the way she writes.

I'm so excited to listen to Ms Atwood because most of all she is a fellow Reflector, this means a lot for us Reflectors that write
Isn't Margaret just so lovely! Thank you, Tim. This was a joy to watch both of you. Best wishes from Luxembourg.
This should have way more upvotes. Margaret is such an insightful person and a true intellectual.

I feel like I fell in love with Margaret during this interview 🥰
legendary guest. i have new found respect for Tim. probably his very best episode IMO.
I will hold you accountable, Tim! You are the best! I loved this interview.
She's always cheeky. A great writer.
I love that she has Gemini rising, as I do, and I love writing too! Fascinating woman... my age too!
What a pleasure this was to listen to, I could have stayed with you guys for triple the time! Thank you Tim and Margret.
Loved your interview with Neil Gaiman, and loved this one equally. A joy to watch. Thank you 😊
Coincidentally, Gayman's episode was my first, and it led me to this one. You ranking them as top first and second makes me wonder if it only goes downhill from here.

I watched Gaiman's interview first and this popped up later. Both fascinating! Trying to find if Tim has more author interviews?

Wonderful interview! So glad I happened upon this! Love Margaret Atwood!!! And, I’ve subscribed to your channel.
I felt that edge RE Astrology, Tim. I paused the video to write this but I am excited to hear what comes up!
I loved the astrology discussion at the 11:50 mark. Probably the first time astrology has been mentioned on his show. 😊
@@aashland Agreed! I think she also shared it in a really cool grounded-in-mythology kind of way that Tim would respect.
