    I can see why people might think he's a boring presenter. But I actually like the fact that he doesn't try to oversell the taste of the food, or play it up like it's bigger than it really is. He seems very humble and respectful, and I can appreciate that.

    This video inspired me to find this place and I was originally intending to go on my birthday but they closed early. I finally went there today and it was absolutely incredible! Service was good, food was unbelievable! I highly recommend all their teas, the soup dumplings, and the pot stickers. This place has been number one on my list of places to eat since I first saw this video and it did not disappoint!

    Used to go here all the time in the early 90s when I lived nearby. They made a green curry turnover I've never found at any other dim sum place...so very delicious. Also, if you were alone, you could get a dim sum platter - one each of several favorites plus a side of rice.

    A dim sum restaurant isn't complete without old ladies pushing trolleys loaded with various steaming bamboo containers filled with lots of different stuff. But I guess you need space for that.

    • @RaymondHng
      @RaymondHng 7 лет назад +13

      Hang Ah is small place. You'll have to go to New Asia on Pacific Street where they have 500 diners to find push carts.

    • @jauipop
      @jauipop 7 лет назад +4

      Yeah, I figured. I live in SEA, so I'm lucky enough to have dim sum (and other yummies) everywhere...

    • @lkiing
      @lkiing 5 лет назад +16

      Actually modern dim sum (since late 90's onward) no longer do push trolleys anymore. Most Hong Kong dim sum places you just order from a order sheet (I did that when I was in Hong Kong a couple of years ago). I live in Vancouver and there are many dim sum restaurants that do it just like that as well since so many Chinese from HK/China have immigrated/moved to Vancouver. It is absolutely the reason you stated, space is a premium. It is a novelty to visit a dim sum restaurant that still does it though. Some will do push trolleys but just for some of their daily specials. I like push trolleys more (especially with the old ladies) but I have moved on...

    Just got back from Guangzhou and Hong Kong and the steamed pork buns were made different the six places I went to. It looks closer to the Shumai shown. like 3/4 pieces of dough around the pork filling with sometimes a little bit of filling showing at the top. Tried chicken feet and the flavor was good but I wasn't crazy about the texture.

    Another restaurant I have walked by innumerable times, and just never gone in......
    For those who go to San Francisco, there are some extremely interesting boutique hotels which ring Chinatown, and even my favorite which is just inside Dragon Gate. Not fancy, but clean and well run, and less expensive - and you get to walk around one of the most interesting parts of the City - and one which literally runs all day and night!
