This is the AMG to buy, the engine is bulletproof, as well as the transmission with just normal fluid changes. No crazy electronics to go wrong. I prefer the solid black interior but nice vehicle.
Hi mate. From Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia. I bought my 2001 CLK 55 AMG back in Oct 2019. Still only 202,000 kms - and I have the same issue with the pixels. My cup holder also works fine! They are an absolute beast of a car. Her sound and looks continue to turn heads. Mine is silver with a black interior with a slightly lighter woodgrain interior. Rims are shiny silver chrome perimeter with black caps. Also own a 2006 SLK 280. You are spot on with the feel, sound and look of the CLK. Hope you kept her. All the best, Tony

Bought a magnificent silver 2001 CLK 55 AMG two years ago and LOVE her! Mine's got a black interior with AMG black rims with chrome siding. My pixels are also not working properly, similar to yours. My car's clicked over 203,000kms, not bad for a car coming up 21 years of age. And the sound of that engine! I love the styling - reminds me of the 1968 Holden Monaro GTS here in Australia. Your review is spot on, mate. Tony
My families 2001 CLK AMG has been sat in the driveway for almost 2 decades, and i’m attempting to fix it up, so far it just seems like exterior damage, the worse being the roof which the paint has been deteriorated a bit in a few places and has reached the metal itself. One of the fenders has fallen off, tires are flat, and it’s missing one of the headlight washers. And the insignia has fallen off. apart from that the only interior damage is from a UV light from the sun. The car was mostly parked in the shade so the inside seems perfectly fine from glancing at it. As for the engine the damages are unknown, it hasn’t been moved or turned on in over a decade almost two so we don’t know the extent of the damages that could be done(keep in mind we get a good dozen inches of snow annually, on the upper east coast of the US). Do you have any advice to help get this beautiful car up and atom again? Anything to look out for, and or any problems to look for when the car does become functional. Any and all advice is welcomed and helpful, I genuinely want to get this gem of a car back to it’s former glory.
Hi Bob. Came across your video of this W208 CLK55. I own one along with it's bigger brother the CLK63. I pretty certain that I have at least one new spare lower front bumper grill moulding. I am based in the UK, but if you get stuck and cannot find one in the US, message me and we will work something out, although it might cost more to ship than to buy. The car looks great, I love the two tone seats, mine has a black interior with the same Black Maple trim. I would be interested to know if you are selling this car. My medium term plan includes buying a second in Italy where I will need a LHD model. Enjoy the car and let me know if you need that bumper moulding.
Hi Bob it's Big John your No/1 UK fan... We have a CLK 55 AMG in our scrap yard! I could take a look and see if it still has the bottom grill and if it does I can send it straight to you free of charge...👍🙂🇬🇧🇺🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲
Most people replace that bumper lower grill with meshed cover like the CLK 430’s had You will have hard time finding original grill cover for the bumper
It’s a great car while it runs OK, but once it starts costing money boy will it cost money! In fact I am amazed a Merc that old is not already a deep, deep money pit. You are lucky though because as soon as it becomes too costly you can flog it to Hoovie and get your money back.
SOLD!
Dumbass for selling it

I agree with everything but your last statement. I love the two tone!
This model always has a special place in my heart…
Same it’s such a sentimental feel for whatever reason

Rust not much of an issue here in Kansas.

Hey if Bob didn't get that grill. I'd be interested in buying it.
Great for a 20 year old car 🚙

Hey John! That would be awesome! Let me know.
❤❤❤
Does anyone know the color name of the two-tone interior?
I love this model, I have my eyes on one, my neighbour has one and I think he wants me to take it
I really thought the Car Wizard would've bought this, instead of the Nissan Leaf😂

I have this same car with black interior but I need the same lower grill.
9:00 "Birdseye Maple" trim

Basic maintenance is all they need .
Nothing breaks on these cars.
Your jealousy and lack of knowledge is really showing
It's missing something I've seen on most 55's
i need this in manual.... gonna cost alot of pennies....
