It was actually Gibson's idea, the PR fiasco is Gibson's fault. Doug West was not involved in this BS, and Gibson fired Randall Smith : one of the reason was that Smith didn't want to reissue the 2C+ and other legendary amps, while Gibson wanted to do exactly that. Also, the 2C+ is not a hard amp to dial at all, once you understand how Mark series amps works
My bandmate had a MkV 25 and his tone sucked until we played a show where it was convenient for him to use my head and I used his (cab ohmage on our respective stage sides) and dialled it in sounding sweet and told him not to deviate from those settings.
It's easy once you know the secrets. Bass and mids low (1 or lower), treble high (7 or higher), smiley face 5-band. Push-pulls and presence to taste. Boom.
Arguably only hard to dial in if you don't already understand the tone stack. Admittedly the GEQ can be fussy but I think most people keep treble high and pulled, bass low and pushed, bright and deep pulled, presence around the middle, and mids to taste. I would say it's hard to dial in the sense that it makes you want to play with it because the circuit is so complex even on older shared EQ Marks.
It’s true. I don’t even watch their official demo videos anymore. It’s like they have no idea who their target audience is. Ola knows what people want to hear from a IIC+.
Took him less than a minute to dial it in and get it sounding better than every official mesa demo. I knew this would happen. Great job Ola. Take notes mesa/gibson
It’s not quite the same. But a boost/od in front or an eq in the effects loop will give you the same result. But it still won’t boogie like a boogie mark. They’re special.
NGL, this is best Mark 2c+ demo I've heard for metal, perhaps ever. Gibson this video just sold a bunch Marks for you. I wish I had those settings 20 years ago.
Hell yeah, glad to see the reissue not squealing or anything like others are saying on the internet. But I just ordered a Mark III Blue Stripe DRG earlier this week and it arrives tomorrow. We’ll see how it compares to the legend
I had a Mk III Blue Stripe fully loaded with the R2 mod, and it was an absolute beast. Only Mesa I've owned that I deeply regret selling. It would absolutely eat everything.
@@LucSulla aw geez, sorry to hear about the one that got away :( yeah, I noticed the one I'm getting has the r2 mod. Or well, a friend who knows these amps really well told me so after I asked "what's up with the R2 jack being completely missing on the chassis?"
Considering there’s no overdrive boost in the front this is probably one of the best sounding amps to me. I had the studio preamp which was basically a mark III simul class. It was rad too.
@@robbrooks693 There are many, many amplifiers that have a ton of gain. However, many of those amps have low frequencies that causes palm mutes to be muddy and can't be dialed out on their own. Those are the amps that need OD or 10 band EQ pedals to get rid of the mud, This Mark IIC plus reissue, for example, doesn't need an OD or EQ pedal because it doesn't have the muddy low frequencies.
Sounds good. Can we get a video doing a comparison between your JP-2C and this IIC+ Reissue? I think a lot of people would like to see how similar they can sound.
Does it chug? Can you make a shoe smell? This amp is the original "chug machine". Back in the early/mid 80's, when this amp came out, it was either the MkIIC or the (then) new-ish Marshall JCM800. This Mesa Boogie set the standard for all prog metal tones well into the 90's. So, yeah.....she's got some chug and then some! \m/ \m/ Edit: When this amp first came out in the mid 80's, an inspired and aspiring young guitar player, such as myself, could pick up this raw gem for.....wait for it.......$599. Today, they're selling the reissue for about $3,500. That price difference does not account for inflation. Just goes to show how ridiculous the amp (and guitar) market has become.
Yep, quality product or not. This thing should cost no more than $2,000. But people have wanted this amp since it was discontinued, so they can charge whatever they want and people will pay it. I’m considering one. We really don’t know how many they’ll make either…
Goddamn ola, Your guitar playing is so freakin awsome I literally started head banging when you starting playing hard and heaving!!! And that amp sounds amazing I might have to get me one 😃👍
I see 2k2 and specially 6k6 are settled quite dimmed in this one which makes me wonder this EQ might be under the transparent buffer circuit Mesa came up with since Mark V's release.
Ola i think you should make test with passive pups, something like SH8 or Blackwinter, (which is like emg 81 passive brother). And with all IIC+ variants you have.
It took me like six months to get my Mesa to chug like 20 years ago. My bandmates would mock me with their entry level solid state amps til that one show where I figured out how to make it chug and the whole band was like wtf. You're over here in 59 seconds. 😂
And just like that in 20 seconds Ola dialed a better tone than the whole crew at mesa boogie did in 30 days.

Bwahaha😂
@SociopatheAssume Randall didn't want to do this amp, because MESA already had the JP-2C.
The price chugs too
😂😂😂
The JP2C is only $60 more. For that amount I’d just get the JP2C.
You should check the European price. That chugs even more 😂

We already know the JP2C will win. But it would still be a fun watch.
@@ivsiguitarist They sounds different.
@@caopgtr Exactly...the JP2C voicing is better, more modern, extra graphic EQ sliders, more gain.
Yes, this is the video comparison I want to see.
I love how he's so familiar with Marks that he instantly cranks the treble, lead drive, volume I, dips the mid and bass, and forms the GEQ V.
When in doubt, crank the treble on a Mark almost all the way and let it sizzle haha
Mesa should make this their entire marketing campaign and just pay you. Made me want it more than anything else I've watched.
So true
The pricetag convinced me to be happy with what I have though.
It’s true. I don’t even watch their official demo videos anymore. It’s like they have no idea who their target audience is. Ola knows what people want to hear from a IIC+.

If Mesa starts the Original Collection just like how Gibson did they should probably reissue a Rev F Rectifier :D
They actually are reissuing the two channel rectifiers. Not sure if rev f specifically though.
@therileyobrien read rumors that is may be a rev g but a rev f would be better fitting since that seems to be the most liked
