- This is a bass cover I did to a Carlos Vives tune. I really liked the vibe when I first heard it, so that inspired me to do this cover. As usual, I tried not to play the song too much as I tend to try and make these videos as "off the cuff" as possible. I'm using my 1976 Fender Jazz bass with EMG Vintage J pickups. Elixir strings, Monster cable into Focusrite Scarlett into Presonus Studio One, I did add some compression to keep the slap stuff in line :-) Let me know what you guys think.

Nicely done! In your opinion-What tone does an Elixir string produce on Jazz bass?
I mean on a Jazz bass guitar.. I now have similar bass but using a flat wound Fender 9050..thinking to change with better strings in future.
+onzkicg in my opinion, I prefer flatwound strings on my P-bass because it gives me a thuddy kind of fat sound. When I play my Jazz bass I like to use the back pickup to get a more growly tone and roundwound strings help get that tone.
How would you describe exilir strings?
*Elixir
They have been my string of choice for over 14 years!! I've played a lot of wonderful strings that sound amazing, but I play hard, and I sweat when I do lol, Elixirs have been the only ones that I don't kill after two gigs. I used to boil my strings but then I would break them shortly afterwards because they would become brittle... I don't need to boil Elixirs!! They're not as bright out of the package as others, but they are consistent with their tone night after night.
