I love your setup. Simple fast lightweight. Also a white tundra on the snow....epic! I also own a white tundra double cab. 6.5ft bed was my reason for buying the DC. Im still not sure what camper I'm going with but I do love how much headroom yours has. So right about the fog lights. I drove in a snow storm recently and the factory fogs suck. I'm definitely going with ambers like yours. You sold me. Thanks
The background was awesome and the truck super cool. Not a ton of crazy stuff appears functional. Low key approach but able to get off road within reason. Well done
I live in a similar environment (Alaska) and also have a 2020 DC Tundra. Do you leave your GFC on year round? How often do you have trouble opening it when it’s really cold out? Thanks!
Love the simple build! We're excited to be getting a AT Overland Habitat on our mid-size GMC, & hoping to keep the interior build-out relatively simple as well. Safe travels & see ya out there!!
We didn't have issues with moisture/mould in the roof top tent until we got back to BC. We stayed out of the jungle, so South America was super dry for us. We only experienced a couple weeks worth of rain during the year we were down there. It's hard to beat the GFC. Lighter than a normal RTT (combined with a rack and canopy), super quick to set up or tear down, and 30 some square feet of stand up living space if we want it.
08 Tundra/Tacoma were the best years! When (should day if) my 93 Pickup and 99 Runner die I’ll likely pick up an 08 next :D 10+ years old is the sweet spot for buying Yotas. Cheaper and still barely broken in. But I sure do like 25-30 year old Yotas, too 😂
Welcome to RUclips; glad you decided to do a channel! May I suggest wearing a lapel microphone as it was hard to hear the audio when you turned your head (often) to look at the truck.
@@cabellspicer6483 Boo! I will be adding an aftermarket front bumper to the truck in the near future, so I could always ship the ones I have. Send me an email at info@desktoglory.com and I'll stay in touch as we pull the truck apart.
@@DeskToGlory Many thanks! We all love Little Red, but show the Tundy some RUclips love! I've been building mine modeled after yours as a do-it-all daily.
@@cabellspicer6483 Oh, videos are coming! We've got a TransferFlow 46 gallon fuel tank, some suspension changes, and potentially a camper happening soon. All of it will get filmed for RUclips. ;)
Been following you guys since you were in your third gen pickup which is still one of my favorite 3rd gens out there. Was hyped when you got the tundra, it looks great with the GFC and I’m sure it functions even better! I do like the look of the stock bumpers on tundras especially when they’re color matched and not chrome but I feel like having a winch makes me feel so much better about exploring a bit beyond where I’m comfortable without one if I’m alone. Also they’re so useful in so many situations that it’s always worth it to have one. My question is do you feel the same and have you thought about any of the hidden winch mounts available? Or maybe one on a plate that slots into the hitch receiver but lives in the bed with the other gear?
I'm really not into carrying additional weight (or paying for the additional expense) if it's not needed, so I've been happy with Maxtrax and a tow strap in the Tundra. We don't go too far off the beaten track with the Tundra and if we do we're usually with other vehicles. We travelled to Argentina without an aftermarket bumper or winch on the red truck, and never really ran into a situation where we would have needed it... and that's with a truck with two open diffs. Saying that, I felt like it was time to cut our losses, so to say, and invest in protection and recovery gear for that truck. We've got some long-term travel plans in the works once again and I didn't want a small fender-bender to ruin our day since the factory bumper is barely more than heavy duty sheetmetal. I put a Warn M8000 with synthetic line in the ARB bumper and have been super happy with the combo. There are a few unknowns related to our new travel plans, so having a winch on that truck does make me feel better about exploring into the unknown. Thanks for following along!!! - Richard
DeskToGlory thanks for the reply! I feel the additional cost part, and the weight too. I guess if you’re lucky enough to have other vehicles with you whenever you venture beyond where you’re comfortable without a winch then that totally makes sense. Especially if the goal is to keep a full size efficient enough to be a daily. I look forward more content like this! Thanks man!
Great video, glad someone enjoys coffee too lol. Question about the GFC, have you ever encountered situations where limbs from trees and other higher obstacles on trails possibly damaging or get caught on the gas piston lifters for the top of the pop-up? That would be my only concern with getting a GFC. The price just seems high and i wouldnt want to spend that kind of money on something where a small branch ruins my night lol
For our setup I really like the simplicity of no windows. If we were planning on building out the interior to spend more time living in I think I'd go for the windows.
Liam McGuinness and they have a almost year wait for them to even start building yours. At least that’s what they said when I asked a couple months ago

Been looking at lift/susp/tire/rim + camper ideas for my 2010 tundra double cab and you hit all the marks ! Thanks man subscribed
Been a big fan since your old toyota pickup, love the simplicity of the new rig! What you need and nothing else!

My idea to fix my up coming double cab tundra mostly for traveling,I'm simple and rugged around the edges keeping the videos going
Great video. Keep em simple and keep em coming
Will do!! Anything specific you want to see? I'll add it to the list!
Just every day happenings. The ups and downs of travel.
Method roost. Loved the bead lock comment! The fake bead lock craze is killing me. I have the same wheels.

Did the camper affect the way it drove? Like less mpg, more wind pushing you around or anything?
Great setup. Does it get super cold in the sleeping area at night? Do you have plans to add any kind of heating setup?
I enjoy the info however please talk to the camera because whenever u look back at the truck and kept talking I couldn’t hear what you say

How well does the GFC shell do at keeping out dust and water.?
Good job Richard. Nice setup.
Great video, epic scenery... So what one do you like the best RTT or GFC? And did You have any moisture problems with your RTT in South America?

Dope ride 🤘
I don't have the grams or FB so can't comment there. How did you guys inevitably mount the light bar in the lower valence on the Tundra?
I used a Rago Fabrication hidden bumper bracket kit and a 40" Baja Designs OnX6 light bar.
@@DeskToGlory seems they discontinued that mount for the pre-facelift 2nd gens.
Edit: Actually all Tundras. Womp Womp.

Set sail for Alberta!

True!!

love your roost rims
Total height with top closed? Will it fit under 8ft garage door?
I want one of these campers, so cool! but 6 grand :/

Have you guys sold this GFC?
We did, yes.
More truck, less your mug, and I'm not talking about coffee mug.
How does installation work can you get a shop to do this for you?
Why would you not order the tent side doors!!??
They weren’t available on the first V1 campers
@@DeskToGlory well that stinks...makes sense though
@@DeskToGlory I have a sticker of yours on my water bottle that I got from CVT in Bend OR back in 2018.

Is this 4 x 4 ?

Yessssssss!

All good info, but seriously- where’d you pickup that dirty chai latte? 🤣
Hahaha! #memories
I thought you were holding an oil filter until you drank out of it.
That camper is more expensive than the truck
