Ka Lae `O Ka`ena - Ka`ena Point

- This traditional song tells of a love affair between a local boy and a fair-skinned visitor. Did their love flourish or did she slip away? The song leaves us wondering.
This instrumental version leaves us without the lyrics of the English language chorus that was added by Eddie Kamae when he performed the song with the Sons of Hawai`i.
I arranged the piece in taropatch open G tuning (D G D G B D from low pitch to high) and played it on my cherished Kathy Wingert Model EC. I recorded the audio using a pair of Shure KSM141 mics in an ORTF-ish array and caught the video on a Panasonic Lumix GH4 and a GH5. I used REAPER to tweak the audio before bringing everything into a new non-linear video editor, the amazing DaVinci Resolve.

Thanks Fran, just what I needed after a frustrating morning trying to keep an old laptop alive, unfortunately we lost the patient but has been replaced with a new computer that is not compatible with my printer. Oh joy.
Ahhh, the joys and agonies of switching to a new computer. I just splashed out on a new one so I could run DaVinci Resolve video software. I'm still finding corners that need attention. Good luck with your issues.

Another beautiful tune Fran!! I saw Led in Mendocino Fri. 10th. I was hoping you would be there as well... I enjoyed the show, But Iv'e seen you guys play together in Ferndale & Mendo. In the past & The show just wasen't the same with out you. At one point Led said he forgot something in Walnut creek and had to go back... I almost shouted You forgot Fran....
