The best thing out of this job my friend is that your dad is helping you I wish I had my dad to help me in all the struggles in my life I'm 64 so I'm probably your dad's age I'm in a project now with a 1983 Datsun 280ZX and hoping that my grandson that's living with me will help me love the video and most of all love to see a father and son working together awesome
Couple tips from and old painter. When you are going to use fineline tape make sure it is the last tape you put on. You should pull the fineline while paint is still wet so the edge lays flatter. Also when painting a horizontal panel like the hood you should start on one side of the panel and end on the other by starting in the middle where the edge is still wet to avoid dry spray under your base coat, also edge the panels after they are covered to again avoid dry spray under you coats base or top. retired paint tech after 30 years due to health complications not related to body work. Hey keep up the great work though and keep on sprayin'.
Loving all the advice given a way that a novice can understand. I actually have 2 personal vehicles I am wanting to paint myself and these videos are a great help, not just the how tos but the products used as well. Thanks!
We can see the frustration when you found out you needed to resend but also you tought us a valuable lesson!! Prep is king!!! You are a pro and nobody can take that from you.
Being new to painting myself i can totally relate!!!...feels like we're in it together!..You sir have just earned my sub!! An it takes alot for me to sub to a channel... you're a real one and a natural!! ..you gonna blow up soon enough! Trust me!!...keep it up!
My dad used to say " If you don't make mistakes, you're not doing anything" Mistakes are leaving points. Great job. You'll look back at it at some point and laugh and tell people about it.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
“You can’t really see it in the camera but it came out really freakin nice” you did an awesome job!!!! 😭😭 the moment you pointed the camera at the door you can see all the hard work you put into prep through that shine! Keep at it!
Bro, sometimes people just have talent. Keep up the great work and Honesty. I'll find a way to hit you up. I have a 97' I need to be painted, and I want it to be a complete DIY build-only home build startup. This truck will go to Heatwave in July if we can get it completed; there are still Bags and bodywork to complete. The Interior is almost completed, but I'm waiting to put it in.
Love this guy. I am really writing this to say stick with it. Do you. Great vids. Walk before you run, but you ll be running soon either the great attitude you have. Good luck.
Man you just remind myself watching your videos, I have learned a lot of things about automotive just watching videos, I didn’t know this but for some reason since the first time that I used a spray paint can I had a feeling that everything I paint came out good, so I started to do it with cars using paint guns and I’ve paint two full size trucks already, they both came out nice! I believe I’m good at painting and I freaking enjoy doing it! I can see myself on your videos! Do it at my garage and making things happen is just great! Great video! Great color and great truck!! Of course great paint job!
Lol when you said "I am a master!" Looks great man. Thanks for showing your journey I'm watching videos trying to start mine. So I appreciate you showing the ups and downs as you learn.
Your paint work is damn good bro. Don’t know what state u in but I’m around the Gainesville Texas area and would like to get a bed painted for my 96 Silverado . Was actually looking to buy a decent used bed and just have the body work done and painted black. U killing it bro . Nice results from doing it out the garage and good prep work
Amazing work with this bro!! You really knocked it out of the park. You've got me ready to go get my car repainted right now. Lol! I did my car with rattle cans and it came out decent. Unfortunately I can see all those spots where I needed to do better work. I worked with what I had though. Great video
Fire boy 🔥 When you're ready to tackle the next one,, lemme know.. Got a Lifted 2007 Silverado that's getting pretty close to ready,, and definitely needs the love you put in this one..
Ive been wanting to get into painting,my truck needs a new quarter panel and some suspension work but paint is HIGH on my list, your videos are awesome,i like that you explain the process, what you're doing/using and why, will def be using these videos as inspiration and tutorials for when i do tackle my truck, ill be sure to poat pics later in the commments,if it comes out 1/4 as good as this one ill be happy.....good stuff bro keep it up
Good stuff my boy! BuhRuhhhh…. These videos have given me the confidence to just go for it on my 01’ sierra that im trying to set up i suppose like autocross style from tbe typical cali pavement pounder that actually lifted a a 2 wheel drive with the 4.8L engine and just pft it all stock. Lol. Anyway it still runs like a champ and i get compliments on it still with over 325k on it. I’ve invested a ton in front suspension cooling system heater core grrrrrr lol so imma slam it on 20” steelies build up a junkyard 4.8L LS TO 450hp and then I’ve decided to attempt the repaint myself since i do all the rest too. Its my favorite gm color Sunburst metallic orange and im hopefully gonna put my own caddy pearl spin on it. Then pass it thru my sons both tbe oldest (25) needs a truck for only about a year which hes gonna help out and get his hands dirty then my youngest will just be turning 16 about then so he can take it for 2-3 yrs tops and then has to give it back to poppa unless he wants to buy it. Lol.
If you wanna save a little money on sand paper you can use a spray guide coat and wet sand instead of dry sanding when doing your blocking .....I use a light grey primer ....then take a spray can primer in black or dark grey and mist the areas to be blocked....just make sure and use an automotive primer that's compatible with what ever kind of primer and paint your using .......and my main reason for wet sanding is to keep dust down ....don't have wear a respirator or mask .....and if your concerned about getting it wet ....trust me if you dry sand block your primer ....you still are going to need / want to wash the vehicle before you paint ........
Love the content bro, stumbled upon your tik tok and im here. Perfect timing too bc im hoping to paint my car this august 💪🏾 feeling pretty confident after i painted my engine bay and interior last summer. One question, can you show the psi you use with the different coats ? Also, do you wetsand your primer ?
Love to hear it bro! You got this! Just take your time and it will come out great! Record the process! And I don’t wet sand my primer. I only dry sand. I’m not a professional but I heard it makes a mess when you wet sand. I will definitely make a video on the psi, but just to help you out now- 26 psi for sealer and base coat- 31 psi for clear. But keep in mind that’s for the harbor freight gun. Every gun is diff. Hope this helps and good luck 🤙
What clear coat and paint brand do you recommend and also how big should I get an air compressor and can you list all the products you used in the comments with links.

My grandpa has a 70's Nova and refuses to let me come over and help him work on it. So it just sits there.. rotting..
