    Thank you so much for this! My boiler was disconnected at work for an extension build and when I recommissioned it I had fault F75. I was getting ready to change the sensor and even the pump but after seeing your video I did what you said and the pump came right back to life. Cheers

    You have to ensure the heating is off before removing the screw?

    I can see my pump is spinning when I remove that threaded plug but the radiators are still cool to the touch. Could the impeller be broken? Is there any way short of draining the system and removing those four hex bolts and taking off the pump to visually inspect the impeller?

    Thanks for video. very clear. ok removed the front nut, turned the inside screw- action seems fine...so put it all back together...turned to heat mode...the pump casing itself is getting very hot, is this normal? I can feel vibration and assume water passing through...I have hot water fine...but I only have two large cast radiators on this system, I dont believe they have water in them...as bleed valve produce nothing, but both cold as stone...even though boiler has kicked in, pressure at 1.6...any advice?if I open the feed tap the pressure goes up but not going to the rads.?
    TIA combination boiler.

  • @1proplover

    Firstly you should mention that you should turn the power off to the boiler in case it kicks in whilst you are fiddling about with that small screwdriver in the pump. Secondly on the pump label in the 5 o clock position is an arrow - that is the direction of the pump - if you start turning it like you did in the opposite direction there is a good chance you will damage the pump vanes causing loss of pump pressure and having bits in the pump cylinder that will damage other vanes.

    • @radarwarrior5459
      @radarwarrior5459 2 года назад +2

      Firstly, he and you should mention, there is no need to open the bleeder completely. If the boiler is switched on and running, a simple half-turn would show you if the water pump is working if water and or boiling water gushes out! Then you know its working.

      Hi Peter
      Sounds like you need to call in a plumber.
      If you have gravity primaries without the need for pump this would explain why boiler works ok on hot water only

    • @colin5064
      @colin5064 3 года назад +2

      probably a build up of limescale on the pump impeller, needs dismantling and removal of scale.
      You also may need to top up the Fernox or other brand inhibitor in the central heating system to aid lubrication of this pump

      If it sprays water after undoing the plug that means the pump isn't working well and it needs to be changed soon.

    Are you turning off the system before you remove the screw?

    • @goodhomehacks9780
      @goodhomehacks9780  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Bradley
      No need to turn system off before you remove screw.
      After you have removed the large screw use a small electrical screwdriver to insert into shaft.
      If the pump is running you will feel it vibrating against the pump impeller as it spins so all good with pump.
      If the pump is stuck you will feel no vibration. You will then need to turn the impeller with a small slotted screwdriver to free off. When impeller is free the screwdriver will vibrate and pump will start to spin. Remove screwdriver.
      If then pump is badly stuck you may have to push hard on screwdriver to free off.
      Sometimes tapping gently with a hammer before you remove screw works so try this first.
      Hope this helps and all goes well

      GoodHomeHacks no problem. Doing this at present but there is STACKS of water coming from the pump as I open it

    • @goodhomehacks9780
      @goodhomehacks9780  6 лет назад +1

      Something is amiss here and impellor seems to be letting by. This can be because pump is working fine and not stuck?
      Shut system off and allow to cool. Check system pressure is no more than 1 bar when cold if sealed system(Combi boiler).
      Remove screw and check if impeller turns. Small amounts of water are normal.
      If problem persists and you cant free off pump and you have loads of water coming out then you will need to call a plumber to resolve.

    This video shouldn’t be alowed and nobody should be removing the front boiler case if you are not gas safe registered.
    The boiler case is an important part of the combustion process and the seal around it must be re fitted correctly otherwise it could have deadly consequences

      @@bobbysuk In most combi systems these pumps are not even inside the boiler. I have a Gledhill Boilermate and there is no gas connection. Perhaps the presenter should have mentioned this but there are circumstances where you are not going to be going anywhere near gas.
