🔺 Our Mission 🔺
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and education.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal.
Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

I love the way that Martin and his wife talked to the birds with such loving tones
I was just going to add the same thing.😀They see a beautiful animal and I'm sort of cringing trying to appreciate that vulture face.😬
Trying to keep them calm in a very stressful situation...
So do I!
✝️🙏💫❤⚘
Watching as they go off to be who they were meant to be...I cry every time ❤
Releases are the best part!
Yes, it gets me every time.
It’s so beautiful,
FREEDOM‼️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸
Aww. When he's released, you can almost feel him realising there's so much more space than he expected to fly in! And all that breeze and freedom! Lovely, funny creature. Thanks for the video :)
They are amazing fliers!
Casey has the most beautiful of voices. A very lovely song.
He's the best...such a huge gift sharing special versions of his music!
🥰🥰🥰 Beautifully done Casey!! We're honored to have people like Martin caring for the animals! 🥰
Thanks Patricia! We're honored to have so much support!
This feels great. I'm a member and I feel really great knowing I'm helping. Fly free lil Turkey Vulture. 💝
Thank you for your support!
I think vultures are beautiful and amazing birds. We have both Turkey and Black Vultures here. I have rescued 2 Turkey Vultures which were released when healed. One of those was an older bird, vet said at least 10 yrs old, that got his leg right above his foot in a leg hold trap set for a coyote. I took him to the vet and got permission from a game warden who was a good friend, to keep and rehab the bird. He had one foot so really wasn't sure if he could be released when healed. After months of doctoring and medicating and working on balance issues he was released. Over the next few years I would occasionally see him feeding with his family. About 4 years after his released a friend found him on the road dead. He was hit by a car. Nearby was a partially eaten rabbit carcass. I was so sad but took comfort knowing that I gave him a chance and was able to release him to live a wild free life. I love the way you and your wife handle the birds so gently and talk soothingly to them. Best part is when you release them. Thanks for all that you do.
Thank you for your interest in the critters!
HAHA! You took such good care of him he didn't want to leave!!
Bittersweet for sure...
I actually genuinely think the vulture is cute LOL. You can just see the innocence and purity in animal's faces and that just makes them all so cute 🥺
Agreed!
Thank you so much for doing what you do. Helping so many of our mother Earth's amazing animals. Birds are simply incredible, blessings to you and yours. Such a beautiful bird, I couldn't help but shed tears upon the release.. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Peace and Love.
Thank you Victor, we appreciate your interest and kind words. A whole lot of people help us help critters!
Beautiful release Martin and Susan, that beautiful baby was so happy to get out on his own. It's always emotional to watch them be free, you both do an amazing favor to those beautiful majestic birds.
Always the best part!
Turkey vultures are so majestic and beautiful. I love how they catch the wind in their wings and gently lift off a little, but stay in place!
Us too!
This Turkey Vulture is absolutely adorable. I just want to hold it in my hands and kiss it all over its beautiful bird body. Just precious. Thanks Martin and Susan for saving this incredible darling.
They are amazing!
Love Turkey Vultures! Our beautiful winged janitorial crew!!! ❤❤❤❤
I say it every time. I so much love watching these great videos. I just noticed something I believe you always do..... you stop after catching the animal and give a brief little history. That is so informative. I learn a little more each time I watch you. And Susan, noone is lying when they say you do such a magnificent job.
Thank you for all you both do!!!
Thank you Mary, education is very important to us!
Thank you for the video. A lot of people find the turkey vulture ugly but I can't help but think they're adorable. Magnificent creatures and I appreciate them a lot for what they do for the environment. Thanks for all that you guys do for these wonderful animals
We vote adorable too!
I watched this a few times now and my heart is touched each time. Please, what is that lovely song? It was perfect for her release.
Great to hear, glad you enjoyed. Song is "My Best Wishes" by Casey, our channel musician. You can see him perform it live here: ruclips.net/video/lCC4lmF_920/видео.html
I know, I know releases are the best part, but I still shed a tear seeing them fly off.
It's a happy tear that they're ok and free and flying off.
But also a little sad that that's the last time Martin will see his rescue.
bittersweet for sure
It was beautiful watching the Turkey Vulture use his wings and fly away. Thank you to Casey for providing the music!
Glad you enjoyed!
This hits home, literally. We have a very large family of Turkey Vultures living in the tree line around our area. I watch them come in at sunset every day from the foothills, it really is fun to see them soar in.
They are very messy! But we love them.
All do respect to your organization sir. Aloha
We love them too!
They are Beautiful. It's like he flew back to say, Thank you Martin😀😀😀
Back where he belongs!
Thank you so much for the work you do with turkey vultures. People seem prejudiced against vultures, especially turkey vultures & describe them like some kind of "monsters". It warmed my heart to see how you helped this little injured guy & released him. ❤
Yeah, it's sad that society is prejudiced and racist against vultures because of their looks and natural instincts, believing in the stereotype of them being evil and rotten when they are just animals like the others.
it took two videos for me to fall head over heels for turkey vultures. they are so precious i'm tearing up just looking at them. such beautiful eyes.
Good to hear!
Sweet, precious bird. So beautiful and graceful.
Yep!
I know this all stems from a passion and you enjoy your work but id still like to say thanks. Knowledgable and caring. We need this in the world
Thank you for your interest. We're grateful for so much support from so many people!

So magnificent. Thank you for helping these glorious creatures. Watching the turkey vulture release was so beautiful, and the music couldn't have been more perfect for the occasion.

I just found your channel today and I'm so excited!
We're glad you found us!
I live in Northwest Florida I don’t know what kind of vultures we have but I love these birds just this morning my neighbors buried a dog yesterday and I’ve got 25 vultures flying between my yard in the neighbors yard with a slight wind blowing there trying to figure out where that body is. They are so wonderful to watch thank you for your RUclips videos
They are amazing fliers!
It’s always so heartwarming to see them fly off. Thank you for sharing
Agreed!
Thank you for taking care of Mr vulture
We hope he's doing well!
That birdy was starting to slobber I think you got lucky not to be puked on... The wing span on the turkey vulture crazy😨
Definitely ready to go home!
I like the eyes
Us too!
This is beautiful. Was just talking to my friend yesterday, saying that I think they are adorable. I also don’t know why, maybe it’s the “selfish” in me, but I always cry when I see releases. I guess there’s a part of my heart that wants to KNOW they’ll be okay. It’s hard to let go. Wishing everyone a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
Bittersweet for sure...
Another 'nice' one Susan and Martin :) Good to see the number of subscribers going up for a well deserved cause. :)
We're very grateful for so much support!
I also really love and appreciate vultures - magnificent!

Releases are the best part!
@@GowildlifeOrg 💛
4:00 that's funny, I wouldn't expect a bird that eats rotten meat to have a weak stomach haha
Martin I know how you like that face from your book LOL
I love turkey vultures too, just don't go too close to them sometimes..
Happy Thanksgiving to All
Distance is good! 😂
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Thank you for sharing, I pray that God blesses you today! Hugs and love to you and your family. 💖✝🤗 Have a beautiful and blessed week. God Bless 💖✝🤗
Thank you, back at ya!
Majestic departure ❤...
Back where he belongs!
I love these birds❤
Beautiful creature. Can I ask what is the sort of hole in the middle of the mouth? Part of the tongue?
I like the turkey vultures. We have quite a few around here. The only animal on earth that can eat anthrax and live. They are awesome fliers. The natural gas companies know they have a leak in the ground when they see vultures circling with no carcass. We also have black head vultures here. God's clean up crew. Great birds. Glad to see this one make a full recovery.
They definitely have their attributes!
didn't know they had iridescent feathers, beautiful
Amazing critters!
These videos are all fascinating. I keep learning so much from each and every one of them. Thank you for your magnificent labour!
Great to hear, education is very important to us
Thank you!
Thanks for your interest
Wonderful music, Too♥️♥️
What interesting creatures!
And another one fixed, fed and returned. Rinse and repeat. 👍👏
Yep
6:23~ beautiful 👏👏👏
Thank you for your interest!
I don't know if any gas companies still do it, but I read years ago that one way for them to find a leak on their pipeline systems was to introduce- and I can't remember how they actually did it- a carrion odor into the system and then drive the pipeline and look for circling vultures to get them in the ballpark of the leak.
Sounds interesting
Thanks for sharing the video, and for taking care of these animals!
Thanks for watching!
Happy Thanksgiving Martin!
Thank you Chris, to you too!
There are so many vultures where I live, I used to hate them cause they tried to eat my chickens but I have since learned to love them.
They have a job to do
wonderful!!
Vultures are!
Awe beautiful. Love the info. Did I miss the video showing when you captured it??? I dont see in the listing
No, we didn't have an earlier video on this vulture.
Amazing!!
They are!
Ty for all ur hard work! Wishing u & urs a Happy (vegan) Thanksgiving & a wonderful holiday season❣️HugsFromNYC
Do you have any California Condors up in your area? If they are not there now, maybe they will get there some time in the future. Thanks for the positive stories you share with all of us. There is no such thing as too much goodness! 🙂
There have been some sightings...more here: ruclips.net/video/El-IFtk6cUg/видео.html
I seen 3 of them today, and im out in Canada close to Vancouver. ❤
Muito lindo 👍 parabéns
Very beautiful
Thanks for watching!
Omg. Turkey vultures rule!!!!. I get nauseous really bad too. Turkey vulture he aint heavy hes gets car sickness too.
Ótimo trabalho 👏👏👏
Thanks for your interest
That is a very cute face, despite not being "conventionally pretty". I love the irridescent feathers too.
Agreed!
She’s beautiful ! Do they have a odor from eating rotten flesh?
Defnitely a unique scent!
OK, we all love the bird, and it does our hearts good to see him flying in the wind, but if he starts circling me, I'm going to run for it....
3:00 It's so interesting that birds have their airway openings way out front. With a human, it's still "in front of" the opening to the digestive tract, but it's pushed back, behind and inferior to the tongue. The position makes intubating humans for surgery and other medical reasons very challenging at times.
Aww
Awe that face! Why do they all keep their mouths open when you handle them?
It helps move food down
