with a linear regulator you need to dissipate around 5 w for 1w output at speaker

You're right about that, it even heats up a lot, but there was no room for a good regulator.

Perfect job as usual, but it's not very useful in this particular case. When battery needs to be recharge, put in on charger and use another battery. Ok, but if you have more batteries, you can use some of custom made (or 20V parkside from lidl store) adapters with usb ports, light etc, and customize it with speakers and heatsink.
