I bought both the intake horn and the cold air intake box. I haven’t had the time for the horn yet, but the CAI made a huge difference for sound. Basically went from 0 turbo noise at all to enough turbo noise to make me happy driving around town. I’m hoping the intake horn makes it a hair louder once I get around to putting it on
So happy to see someone putting a video out about these products, are you going to test each out individually or all as one group/upgrade? It would be nice if to see each item individually so people can see most bang for the buck.
Awesome! I have all of these parts in my ‘24. I also have a few extra goodie’s if your interested in checking it out I’ll be in west salt lake in two weeks. My truck is actually one of the trucks you test drove last year, that’s how I ended up buying it. Thanks for posting your videos.
I’ve put my truck on the weight loss program when it only has 7000 miles. And now has over 107,000 miles. It has been awesome. I’ve been looking at replacing my grid heater bolt like you guys discussed. I will say I don’t think you’re going to see, much in the way of a performance gain, unless you were able to tune your Duramaxs.
I have a 22 Duramax and I have the banks cold air intake, map spacer, darringer, with the I dash. The I dash is very useful. They definitely make a difference. My buddy has a 22 also. He has everything I have plus the turbo inlet and boost tubes. The turbo inlet and boost tubes really made a difference on his truck. I’ll probably be getting them soon. Banks is the only aftermarket stuff I will run on a newer duramax he gets them to start upgrading before they hit the market.
Banks seems to get a lot flak in enthusiast groups on social media, mostly due to the cost of their products, however they do make quality stuff and have been doing so for years. As much as I’d like to do a full delete and tune on my 2023 Cummins, the reality of living along the Wasatch Front means having to pass yearly emissions inspections. That’s part of the reason I ended up going with an emissions compliant tune for my wife’s Ecodiesel Jeep. Sure it doesn’t make the most power compared to other tunes, but it does play nicely with factory safeguards (such as EGT) while providing a nice bump in HP and TQ. This also means that I’ve had zero issues with the vehicle related to the tune itself. When tuners start pushing the envelope in terms of power on stock fuel and air systems or stock rotating assemblies is when you start to have reliability problems.
I think the banks upgrades are a great idea. I have a 24 3500 Duramax, I think the 1st thing im gonna do is the FASS EGR Filter. Mines has 14k miles and has been in the shop 2 times for emissions.
I’ve done the pedal monster, idash, derringer, airbox, and mass air spacer. That’s pretty much all you need. I would recommend the mass air spacer first though because that has been proven to extend the cleaning interval.
I really liked this video and try and do more content on stuff like this. We only have one more diesel left..a 24 Duramax but check out the gas aftermarket stuff as well. 5 star on the 7.3's and I need something for the GM 6.6 10 speed gas now..
I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of Banks products for the new 2024 L5P engine. Banks first put out a video on the updates to the 2024 L5P in April of 2023. Here we are almost in September of 2024 and they still haven't released a Derringer Tuner, a Cold Air Intake, an Exhaust System, or an Intercooler Upgrade. All are listed as "In Development" Well how long is "Development" going to take? We are close to the second year (2025) of this engine version being available. I don't recall it taking this long for these same products to be released the last time the L5P was updated in 2020. Like you JB, I don't want to go back two or three times to install these items. If you are looking at doing engine upgrades, you might want to consider the FASS EGR filter system. (I'm not affiliated with FASS in any way). It's designed to reduce the soot the EGR system sends back into the intake. JB if you have a good tech contact at Banks, it would be interesting to see what they think of that FASS filter and using along with Banks products.
@Billybob50119 interesting, I didn't own one in this time frame, but I remember the hype when it first came out in 2017. It seems like enough changed that Banks has different part numbers for items starting with the 2020 model year for the L5P.
I posted on a different Fass comment, but it looks like Fass has not made the filter system for 2020 and newer. I would definitely look into getting one if they did.
@@benbyerly1996 That is not the case. They have them on their website currently, part number EGRC20. I currently have one in the box in my garage, was hoping Banks would bring their items to market soon so I could do all the installations at one time.
Be wary of adding "cooling" to your exhaust or lowering EGT's. The DPF counts on heat to burn off the soot. Ask @Truckmaster about cooling on the exhaust and what happened to his DPF.
Love the content that banks puts out. Some of the products are hit or miss. Had the intake for my 18 l5p and caused codes and drivability issues. Truck also has dpf back exhaust. Was bummed they got rid of the cool cuff design and a stainless steel option. Aluminized tubing will look like ass in a year and will rot in 2 where I live(PA). Diff cover is a great product.
Hey guys, so I put WC Fab cold and hot side pipes on my truck when it had about 1,000 miles on it, also have the turbo horn, and intake tube all at the same time. Have had at dealer at normal maintenance and they didnt seem to care. Zero issues have come from those upgrades. Turbo noise is definitely more noticeable and more noticeable from the 2020 I had with same upgrades. I do plan on going to a banks turbo inlet as the WC Fab gives me turbo surge when towing heavy so I will see if the banks one eliminates that like promised. Only thing I can say is the banks has the PCV tube where the WC Fab I am able to dump it under the cab. I may have it go to a catch can when I go banks. Hope this helps.
No expert here but just because banks has the inlet doesnt mean it needs the pcv connected. If you already have it dumping just block of the opening on the banks piece.
Both trucks are under warranty and you are going to put bright red piping throughout the engine? Dealer opens the hood for warranty work and sees BANKS all over and watch how fast they argue warranty has been voided. BANKS cannot force the dealer to warranty the engine and many dealers are looking for a reason to void the warranty. These truck make almost 1k pounds of torque, you don’t need more airflow. Put a pedal monster on if you want more performance, you can at least unplug it before going to the dealer. If you have to add something, get the Banks iDash. At least it will give you Regen alerts which is helpful.
Actually everything but the pedal monster makes the engine more efficient and you really need a new dealer if they don’t know and understand how the banks stuff work. Plus any dealer that denies warranty is just scamming you never ever let them fix anything if they deny warranty on it. Go to a reputable shop so you don’t get over charged while the dealer gets paid for warranty and by you.
IN MY 2023 DURAMAX AFTER 3K MILES I DID THE ALL PIPES EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON BANKS ONLINE AND I INSTALL VSN CCV REROUD KIT NO MORE OIL TO MY PIPE. PLUS I DID THE SENSOR KIT FROM BANKS STRONK RECOMMENDE I CAN SEND A PICTURES IF YOU LIKE JUST LET ME KNOW WHERE TO SEND THANKS
In all reality most are spending hard earned money on this bs based on," it will make it last longer". Sure, it might last longer for someone else, but not you or me. That truck will be long gone and a new one in the driveway. Who gives a cr!p if it saves fuel, you will never recoup the money spent. Suckers play the aftermarket life

I am looking forward to seeing the results on these upgrades. I've been thinking of doing the horn and cold air intake.
You should check out the FASS EGR Filter
He doesn’t keep the trucks long enough to really justify it imo
So, I looked into this, and they don't make a system for 2020 and newer.😢 it would definitely be worth having.
