RIDGEGRAPPLER VS KO2 Review

- I’ve had this truck for 2 years and in that span of time I have had 3 sets of tires. The Firestone Transforce that came factory, the BFG K02 and now the Nitto Ridgegrappler. All 3 served a purpose. All three have their good and bad. This is my opinion on the three sets of tires.
Great review!
The K02 dry rotted after about four years on my F350. I can't complain about tread wear, but when it came time for an inspection, they wouldn't pass my truck just because of dry rot cracks on the sidewalls. I put General ATs on it, and I think they're a better rubber composition with a similar tread pattern.
From what I’ve read, the KO2s used to be built better but as of recent, it appears the quality has taken a down turn.
Dry rot after 4 years of wear is pretty damn impressive. That type of longevity is very uncommon with most tires.
Mine dry rotten too, tread was still good which is why It hurt me to get new tires
I have friends that have the Ridge Grapplers and have 50000 miles on them and still look good. But they don’t do much off road with them
In case I missed it, was the KO2 more quiet than the Ridge?
Yes, the KO2s are quieter than the Ridge Grappler. Having said that, the Ridge Grapplers are not too loud to begin with.
Have you had any fuss or problems with that leveling kit? Pulling, truck in 4x anything? Thanks
No, I haven’t had any trouble with the leveling kit. It’s been great so far. The only issue is finding someone with an alignment set up that would fit my wheel and tire up. Naturally, when I leveled it, set the alignment off a bit. Pulling has been fine, 4x4 has been good too.
I have a 2wd 2014 ram 1500 with a small lift. It has 275/65/18s on it now. Im trying to decide which one to try. Ko2 tires or nitto ridge grappler. I don't do much of any off road but I like the off road look. But I also rather not have to much noise. And also how do you think the widening of these 2 tires look on my truck? Opinions greatly appreciated
Great question! I had the same question. Since i actually did both I have an answer (my opinion) first off, if you plan on using stock wheels and just want an off-road look with a little wider tire, the KO2 is the way to go. If you plan on getting new wheels with an offset and go a bit wider, the Ridge Grappler is the way to go. I liked my KO2s on my stock wheels. but once I got a 20x10 wheel with a -24 offset I bought the Ridge Grapplers. They’re both fairly quiet. As far as longevity, that depends on how you use your truck. I have a video on the KO2 as well I’ll post the link so you can check it out.

@@85Gute it has the mojo metal 18 inch rims on it. So what do you think the ko2 would look like as far as wide? Sorry not the best at tires and stuff. I apologize
Wish I could show you a picture of the truck and wheels
@@keithirick1240 No need to apologize man. We’ve all need some help from time to time. On a 1500, 2wheel drive with 18s. In my opinion, I’d invest in some KO2s. It’ll give it the off-road look you’re going after. It would look good on some 18s for sure! I had a 2004 Ram 1500 2WD for 10 years. I ran BFGs on it and it really gave the truck an aggressive look.
What brand of wheels are those? They look sharp!
They are the Moto Metal 962. 20x10 with a -24 offset. They were a popular wheel in like 2010. I like them. They weren’t super expensive
I’ve yet to hear anyone not get at least 40 k miles out the ridge grapplers? Most people I know personally have even got 50k on their 1 Ton diesels.
Steven Francis They have been known to have some longevity but I know a couple guys personally that have only got around 30k.
I have 41k on my Ridge Grapps with 9/32 remaining. Should be able to easily get another 10k out of them. That's a 35x12.50R18
I being watching a lots of reviews about this tires and they said that this are very good tires I'm confused now
Both are good tires. Comes down to preference. I switched from the KO2 cause the didn’t work well with my wheels. I’d buy them again though
Are those 10 or 12 inch wide rims
They are 20x10 -24 offset
Its been awhile man. What do you think about them in the snow
They did pretty well, actually. I drove carefully through the snow and the Ridge Grapplers did great. Highly recommend!
@@85Gute awesome because i bought them before you replied lol
@@sradman750 Haha! They’re great! You’ll love them!
Which is quieter on the highway, ko2s or ridge grapplers?
The KO2 is quieter on the highway.
Thank you for the very fast response! I'm leaning towards the ko2 now. :)
@@stubskututstuy You will like the KO2. Very solid tire!
Try cooper discoverer at3 more quieter than the two. Also has a good grip on wet road.
Nice rims! Is the ridgegrappler louder than the ko2?
Terrishh Yes, they’re a little bit louder than the KO2. However, they’re not so loud that they’re annoying in cab. That’s one of the great things about the Nittos, they look aggressive but are quieter than your standard MT.
@@85Gute Unless you go with the Mud Grapplers. I've had two sets and it always sounds like I'm taking off in a B17 bomber haha. Looking to get these next, I want my gas mileage back. Thanks for the review!
@@notsojoerogan You’ll love them. I’m a huge fan. Got about 12k on them and they’re holding up well. Wearing evenly 👌
If you’re worried about highway noise are you really a truck guy just saying
I wear work boots not Nike airs so I can’t hear myself walk I know where I’ve been and I can hear where I’m going..lol
How bad they throw rocks
It can get pretty bad if you’re around small rocks a lot. My neighborhood is landscaped with small rocks so I pick up quite a few. Thankfully I have the steps because the offset of the wheels would destroy my paint with rocks chips.
I have Ridge Grapplers they are garbage do not buy them Im older and dont beat my truck or drive overly aggressive I hunt and off road they are junk in snow or rain I wish they would preform as good as they look they just dont
Dan Parkin Yeah, I’ve head that same thing from a few people. Winter is around the corner so I’ll get a first hand experience
Toyo sucks
