Thanks to Trudeau's expert diplomacy, India is fast-tracking its border settlement with China. With that out of the way, India has a clear shot at a permanent seat on the UNSC-especially with the U.S., U.K., and France cheering from the sidelines.
In 1960, Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai proposed a compromise to resolve the India-China border dispute, suggesting that China would recognize India's claim to the eastern sector (Arunachal Pradesh) if India acknowledged Chinese control over Aksai Chin in the western sector. This "package deal" aimed to settle the boundary by dividing the contested areas between the two countries, with China prioritizing Aksai Chin for its strategic link between Tibet and Xinjiang. However, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru rejected the proposal, as he was unwilling to return any territory gained by lines drawn by its former colonial master.
The U.S. maintained its embargo on China during the Great Chinese Famine (1959-1961) discouraging other nations from sending food, while millions died of starvation.
Confident that China is weakened and will collapse, India implemented its "Forward Policy".
If this border issue had been resolved in 1960, the past 64 years of mutual suspicion and distrust might have been avoided.
Anywhere in the world, if there is a border dispute, it is usually the result of a line drawn by an Englishman; if it is an internal dispute, it is usually the US fueling it with diplomatic, financial, covert, and military support. Difference in implementation of divide and conquer strategy.

China is playing a Long Game: it is waiting for US's
global economic , technological & military power to get much weaker & eventually becomes impotent to China's aggressive expansionist threats to its S E Asian neighbours' & India's own Himalayan border states sovereignty......China is waiting for such moment to dictate its terms to dictate its terms to settle its border disputes with India, knowing full well that a weak US leader of QUAD in the South China Sea will not pose no threat to it & similarly a weak US will not assist India should China invade Arunachal & Ladhakh....US's economic decline has begun & hence its inability to project itself militarily is will follow in due course, thereby making
making S E Asian nations & its satellite states...
So, your suggestion that India & China should henceforth focus on improving living standards of their people cannot be right for India ...Unless & until China surrenders Aksai Chin, occupied regions of Ladhakh & renounces its claim on Arunaxhal Pradesh within a set time frame of say, two years, India must revert to freezing its relations with China, as it has done since 2021 & consider China as a serious security threat to India's sovereignty..
Reestablishing friendly relations with China now must go hand- in- hand with securing the return of indian territories occupied illegally by China & at the same time reject outright China's claim on Arunachal Pradesh....

Can you specify the world's No. 1&2 instead of pressuring that everybody's No. 1&2 are the same globally? And lastly, India is far, far behind in what? Or do you just like to condemn India? In managing the Muslim population control and their national patriotism, I agree that India is far, far behind than Israel who manage them far, far better. But if you meant in terms of anything else, who knows what you meant? Or are you just an all time coward that can't spell yourself out? Dividing India into multiple countries would be beneficial for the Indian people but disadvantageous for politicians, as it would reduce their power. In ancient times, India mostly consisted of many independent states. Before the British arrived, there were over 500 states on the Indian subcontinent. At that time, the economy of the Indian subcontinent was extremely prosperous, with its GDP even surpassing that of China.
When the British came, they forcibly merged many of these states into one to facilitate governance under a single administrative structure. For example, Kashmiris and people from Tamil Nadu, who originally had no connection, were forced to live in the same country. Similarly, people from Kerala and Manipur, who had nothing to do with each other, were also compelled to coexist in one nation. This led to extremely low efficiency in the Indian government.
Additionally, people of different religious beliefs, such as Kashmiris, Nagas, Manipuris, Andamanese, Muslims, Hindus, and Christians, were forced to live together in one country. This resulted in constant resistance across different regions, significantly increasing the cost of governance in India. A lot of money was spent on maintaining social stability and suppressing uprisings, leaving little for improving living standards and economic development.

If India makes an effort, perhaps the United States might remain neutral or even support India. In this scenario, the only opposition would come from the weakest member of the Security Council, the UK. This could be the option with the least resistance for India to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

And when these two great nations work together with their complementary talents and resources, they will be the world's dual engines driving up global prosperity. Nothing could be done by the global north ti stop them.

It is a no no in good journalism and in chairing a session such as this by NDTV. There is clearly no independent perspective. She is like most Indians, not independent of thought, forensic or detached (emotionally or politically) from the subject matter. Her views come out clearly. India is smart in the political game. the border issue is just a "tool" to unite the whole country to act hostile toward China. India was thinking to benefit as much as possible from US and western governments when they are rivalling with Chinese. but the reality and facts show them that is not the case. Eventually, they didnt benefit much and India realised the comprehensive supply chain of China will determine the success of India. I think the Chinese know the Indian's strategy and they are pretty calm in dealing with India.
