@@Uaevo0 Well, this was all from a single run through the level. I didn't play through multiple times to try to get good looking runs. I only played each level once. I just spliced out the deaths - which all occurred in the final section of the level. So that was legitimately what my run looked like the first time I played the level. Also, since it was made as an instructional video, those slips show that there is room for mistakes during that section without dying, which is instructional. I also had a slip up at the end where I didn't grab the rock at the end and almost fell. 1:17 I could have cut that out and done a fresh run to make it look a little better, but a lot of people have mentioned that they fell at that point, so it's kind of better that I left it in to highlight the danger at that point.
This one was definitely the worst. It took me two hours because of that ending part. And then i decided to do the 3rd world A side without dying and that was a hell of its own until I finished it.
It's one of the hardest to beat, but also one of the easiest to get the golden strawberry for. Took me nearly 2 hours to beat it the first time, but by that point the muscle memory necessary for the last stage was already engraved hard into my fingers, so the golden strawberry only took an additional 40 minutes.
Michael Smith C side goldens are far easier than a side goldens. The levels are so short, and many of them have easy screens then one hard screen that you have to do without dying anyways. 1 and 2 a are easy deathless, but past that is harder than the c side goldens. The stages are so long that there are too many possible errors for me to do without a single mistake.
@@musicalbrit3465 Yeah I've beaten all the a sides of the first 3 chapters deathless and all sides deathless on the first 2. I've been working on the chapter 3 bside for days. Yesterday I got to the final room and died getting the last switch to unlock the heart
Michael Smith damn. I have the first 2 a and c sides deathless, and 4c deathless. Anything celestial resort is downright impossible for me to do deathless, timing myself to cycles is too hard lmao. I’ll go back for C side goldens once I’m done with this and 8c
I just got the plat the other day, no assist mode. What were your hardest ones? I thought 5c was the hardest overall, 7c was second but 8c was close. That last room killed me 175 times lol
I've gotten all 24 hearts and 129 strawberries, including the level 1 golden strawberry. Also visited the secret developer room. Have never used assist mode. Total: 11942 deaths, 36:54:56.395. 7C was by far the hardest. 1379 deaths 3:59:20.461
Finally beat it after 1800 deaths. It was so hard to be consistent on the last screen, pull Madeline too far left by even a fraction of an inch and you'll hit spikes. Too far right, spikes. Put too much bounce on a cloud jump, spikes. Not enough bounce, spikes. It's brutal!! Not to mention, the number of deaths directly caused by my analog stick sending me in an unintended direction..
01:05 wow, they patched these spikes in? When I finished the game 2 weeks ago, those top-spikes were not there. Good to see that they improve the levels. But now I feel a bit ashamed, because I got to beat it the "easy way". Good skills man, I like it very much! :-)
Many hours and over 500 deaths later, I beat this stage. And you know what? I loved it! I guess I became attached to the struggle, as it seems. Now on to the level 8 C-side...
Its really hard, specially the final screen, today I make my way to granny in the final screen, then after speak to her accidentally I fall into the pit before I can reach the golden heart, I have a mini heart attack before I realise that I respawn just next to the pink tree and granny to finally obtain that golden heart. XD
this level was so damn annoying to clear but mostly through my own... fault? I somehow managed to cross the lower part and hit the spring after the cloud at 1:08 on a very early try and thought that was the intended way but struggled to get it to work even 5 times at most for a million tries after. also 3C was a ton more annoying. I hate Oshiro jumps and the anxiety blobs.
Man screw this last room. Its so demoralizing one mess up or eaten input and your back to square one its so long and I can barely get to the third pink cloud before the final spike maze consistently. I have done the other C-sides no problem heck I even got the golden winged strawberry at the end of chapter 1 by not dashing for the whole level, But the last room if this C-side takes the cake for being annoying and evil not hard.

C-Sides are such an interesting thing in Celeste. They’re super intense challenges, but also way, way shorter than the B-Sides. So you get a burst of challenge without it overstaying its welcome.
I remember watching this soon after beating the summit for the first time, and thinking that I'd never be able to do something like this. Now I've beaten every b and c side, beaten chapter 9, and trying speedruns. Celeste is a great game.
interesting fact: when I was going through 7C with the golden berry and reached the very end, I decided to use several wave dashes to gain high speed and ended up falling down, but I didn't get confused and in the next attempt I went through all the screens and collected the heart
2 months ago i saw this and i thought: "there is no way i'm beating that".1026 deaths, 3 painful hours, and i just have completed 7c. I guess i'm ready for chapter 9
i see people talking about mirror-c being the hardest, but personally, i didn't struggle as long as i did with that level than i did with summit-c. the last room was complete hell to do
By far the hardest level for me personally. Mirror-C wasn't so bad once you understand/look up how you are supposed to do it, and Core-C is similarly long but has far easier plattforming.
I spent 3+ hours on this, and probably because I was using Joystick instead of Dpad, so I got a lot of missed inputs. I was so tempted to turn on Assist mode, but if I can't do this without assist, then what chance do I got for Farewell. However, I'm glad I persevered, the rush of adrenaline when I made that last dash for the wall was such a relief.
this one frustrated me so much because it was like i could picture where to go and exactly what to do but it just took tons of practice to make it so. reminded me of piano in a really big way
Sure, Farewell takes longer, but no single screen is as difficult as this, not even close. No, not even the final screen. I can't see how someone who actually completed 7c can ever think that.
@@leopignataro I admit figuring out how to consistently do wavedashing took me longer to do then this screen did. Once it clicked it wasn't too bad. As a whole the final segment in 7C is long and there's low margin for error but I don't find most individual parts of the last segment to be bad on their own, like with chapter 9 you often have to string together multiple advanced techniques, while here it's mainly just getting the perfect timing down on what's otherwise pretty simple techniques. With 7C there's no one part that felt like hitting a brick wall, it was just stringing it all together at once that took some time, while with chapter 9 you have moments where you have to like activate a moving block, and wavedash into a walldash jump over crystals and grab back onto the block sort of thing.
@@dreamleaf552 I see what you mean, it's two different kinds of difficulty. Personally, I find the precision required in 7c much harder than the advanced technique in 9. Maybe because I'm on Switch.
@@leopignataro I play on PC so that might have something to do with it. Yeah, from a pure precision viewpoint I can see why people would find 7C harder, but when I factor in the struggle I had performing the advanced techniques initially in 9 it definitely made for more frustration. Now that I can perform the advanced techniques more consistently and have built up the muscle memory I might find 7C harder. As it stands I'd say the first room of 5C and the triple wavedash in chapter 9 the room after it's introduced are the two that took me the longest to beat, although they're both admittedly great ways to practice and learn those techniques too which is useful but initially they made me want to shoot myself.
Personally, I just wanna puke at this amount of difficulty. I will never even begin to understand how humans can be so good in this. I raise my hands up, I surrender. Totally inexplicable.
@@reddarmi8593 I went to chapter 9 straight after 8A, not realizing it was a DLC... But I quickly realized something was wrong hehe! So I'm working my way through the B sides and C sides, and even got some A side golden berries (1, 2, 4, 5 and 6), now I'm off to 8C and then, finally, 9. I don't mind spending hours if it's on different screens, and I know chapter 9 is huge, IMO the longer the better. But 5 hours on ONE screen, that's just insane!! I was starting to consider buying celeste for PC (I'm on switch) just to get a better controller so that I could beat this dammed screen
I legit spent like 80 minutes in front of my computer playing the last level non-stop, 362 deaths... holy shit dude definitely the hardest level I've seen until now (I'm afraid of chapter 9)
Idk why but the drop at 0:58 is just so hard for me. Everything else is hard at first, but eventually gets consistent. I can never get consistent here.
Well 5C took me 1300+ deaths and 7C took me 667 deaths. While 5C was frustrating and had me thinking I could never do it, 7C was fun and I genuinely enjoyed getting better and better at mastering each step.
I played through farewell after all the C-Sides. I still think 7c last screen is still harder than any screen in farewell lmao. At least in farewell things were fun, 7c last screen is just hell
So after 3+ hours and 1100 deaths, the third screen of 7C takes the cake for me as the most brutal. 5C was more challenging to figure out, more technical, and as it ended up, my run didn't look anything like the runs I see on RUclips, now that I'm done and am allowing myself to look this stuff up (I made it through the third screen doing only two boosted wall jumps). But I can figure out puzzles, and even if it was tough to execute, it took nowhere near the precision and focus that 7C did. I did try to train myself to use the D-pad during this stage, because I hear it's easier, but the analog stick is so ingrained into me that I just couldn't do it. I'm not really sure if I'm making it harder on myself for that or not, but analog control on the Switch is how I finally beat it
I'm the same way. I played through the whole game using the analog stick - largely because the D-Pad on the X-Box controller is trash - but I felt like if I really wanted to commit to the game and be elite I needed to play with a D-Pad.
Plenty of top players use analogue, it’s all personal preference. It’s easier to make sure you get the desired input on a d pad, but for me analogue is far more intuitive and my gameplay flows way more with it. Everything is stilted when i try and use the d pad and I find myself way too focused on which buttons to press on the dpad to actually work my dash, jump and climb. I’m currently on the 3rd screen, with switch analogue as my only option. Any tips to get past this bit?
It depends on what exactly it is you're struggling with. A lot of my deaths were missed timing, so it came down to just not screwing that up. But something I was able to fix were my missed inputs. I realized that my dashing in the wrong direction was a product of my posture. By not sitting straight with the controller directly in front of me (I was sitting at an angle with the controller doing the same, in a sort of relaxed position), my analog inputs tended to be misaligned. Once I started sitting straight, I cut out the vast majority of my misinputs. I also invested in a $20 wired controller, rather than the joycons. _Slightly_ better on latency than the wireless joycons, which helped a small bit with timing (we're talking a small number of frames here, though when it comes to 7C, even 2 frames can make or break an attempt). Though the controller is bigger than the joycons, so it took a little getting used to. Helpful overall. The great thing about this game is that every mistake is your fault in some way or another. If you're able to think about why you died, you can think about what to do to correct it. Hopefully you aren't making the mistake of blaming the game for your screw ups.
Tiler I’m making good progress now, all i have left is the final section with the dash refresh crystals. Definitely going to try fixing my posture, it’s awful lmao. Thanks for the advice, I’m hoping to beat this and move on to 8c pretty soon! :)
2 hours, 691 deaths. Had to beat the last screen twice because my pc crashed when i was talking to grandma ._. I was furious lol, but calm enough to get it..
This is actually my favorite C-Side. The whole last section is really precise, but not too bad imo. The part *I* hate is the beginning with the 5 'up-dash-wall-jump' things in a row.
I hated the c side of world 8. I needed to use the assist mode only to pass the last obstacle, because I wasn't good with the new mechanic and there was no checkpoint to learn it.
Finally achieved the platinum for this game and this lvl by far was the hardest. Excluding chapter 9 of course. But this level took me 1,929 tries 😂 “funny how we get attached to the struggle”
Well here's the thing - since i am pretty bad at corner bounce (can't get it consistently) i just dashed to the right side of the block and then did a neutral jump to get the crystal. Never failed to do that :)
Bro i just did it today and it took me like 5 hours and over 1000 deaths...ive been known to be a super patient guy...and even my line of sanity was beggining to run thin
As Tomoire said, this is all there is to this level. The C-Sides use the same types of hazards, but don't tend to stick as closely to the themes as the B-Sides. Most people say this is the level they had the most trouble with in the game. Personally this one wasn't too bad for me. I had more trouble with Chapter 8 B-Side. I made a map of this level before I ever played it, and that probably helped a lot. I had already looked ahead to see what I was dealing with and had a good idea of what I needed to do to get through it.
The B-sides are harder versions of the originals, but generally C-sides are just a couple of very difficult challenges using the level's attributes, rather than actually being like the level. So this level doesn't have other area iterations, Mirror Temple C-side has no Madeline chucking Theo around or monsters, Reflection C-side has no boss fight, etc.
POV : You’re wondering how you have gotten the golden strawberry of this level in a small amount of tries even thought it’s supposed to be one of the hardest levels in Celeste while watching this video (totally not me I swear!1!!1!)
It's actually funny how easy this level becomes after you complete it once. After you get in the flow for long enough to actually beat it, you can do so pretty reliably. After spending maybe 2 hours doing this level, I was able to get the golden strawberry in 5 attempts. Not to mention how much Farewell puts this level into perspective.
God, can you imagine doing all of that and then dying at 1:19? Personally, took me an hour to do that final screen and I damn near had a heart attack when I heard the "crumbling" sound from the block.
i discovered the assist mode just at the end if this chapter, and im like, well fuck it, its the end of the game, let me just slow this down to 70% so i wont accidentally dash into the spikes for the hundred time.
I can't seem to get through 1:11-1:19 part in video I don't get how to get though such a confined place so quickly. If anyone can give me tips or ideas, it'd be much appreciated.
I just learned the pattern by heart tbh. Though I found that at 1:13 it helps to wait just a little bit then do an up-right diagonal dash. That way you never crash into the spikes. Besides that just keep practicing and you will eventually get there! And remember: You can do it
I actually agree. I thought the L7 and L8 B-Sides were both harder than this. Most people I've talked to have said they thought this was the hardest level, though.

Yes, this is not a no death run. Although I think this level is 'doable'.
Dude. Good eye!
@@GitGuder if it was a no-death run, meaning splices don't matter, why include the beginning where the player fucks up the wall boosts a few times?
@@GitGuder Understandable.
Wait wait wait wait wait, there are golden strawberries on c sides. I can't even beat the a sides without dying
My thumbs just started to hurt from remembering doing that
All in all took me 12K deaths to finish the game plus B & C Sides
I just got the plat the other day, no assist mode. What were your hardest ones? I thought 5c was the hardest overall, 7c was second but 8c was close. That last room killed me 175 times lol
I died 732 times on Summit C-Side...
I literally have 17k deaths and still need to finish the c sides and get 20 more golden strawberries
Only 12k deaths!!! Jeez man, you're good
Finally beat it after 1800 deaths.
My squeaky-ass analog stick had me stuck in that room for 8 hours
ma'am you are hardcore gamer my impatient guts gave up on 693 deaths by using assist.
i like to come back and watch this video from time to time to see what i did once and will never do again
As someone grinding through the B-Sides, this vid gave me tremendous anxiety. Nice work.
01:05 wow, they patched these spikes in? When I finished the game 2 weeks ago, those top-spikes were not there. Good to see that they improve the levels. But now I feel a bit ashamed, because I got to beat it the "easy way". Good skills man, I like it very much! :-)
It's not really a nerf. If you're anywhere near where those spikes are at, you're going to die either way
@@marine5546 I don't think these spikes make it any harder. Pretty sure they added them to make us spot the block easier.
@@rafadydkiemmacha7543 maybe you could climb onto that block and dash to the diamond?

This game is diabolical. I made it through side A, that's about enough for me. Awesome video!
Many hours and over 500 deaths later, I beat this stage. And you know what? I loved it! I guess I became attached to the struggle, as it seems.
Now on to the level 8 C-side...
Good luck.
8c doesn't come close to this. No other screen does.
@@leopignataro 8c took me almost twice as much time as 7c

There was no greater feeling in any of my gaming history of when I beat this level 9 hours after starting it.
Its really hard, specially the final screen, today I make my way to granny in the final screen, then after speak to her accidentally I fall into the pit before I can reach the golden heart, I have a mini heart attack before I realise that I respawn just next to the pink tree and granny to finally obtain that golden heart. XD
Same happened to me today! XD
this level was so damn annoying to clear but mostly through my own...
I actually had more trouble going through the higher route so I just went below
I did the same!

I remember watching this soon after beating the summit for the first time, and thinking that I'd never be able to do something like this. Now I've beaten every b and c side, beaten chapter 9, and trying speedruns. Celeste is a great game.
interesting fact: when I was going through 7C with the golden berry and reached the very end, I decided to use several wave dashes to gain high speed and ended up falling down, but I didn't get confused and in the next attempt I went through all the screens and collected the heart

i see people talking about mirror-c being the hardest, but personally, i didn't struggle as long as i did with that level than i did with summit-c. the last room was complete hell to do
I don’t see how mirror C could possibly be the hardest
@@seanm9306 I got 500 deaths on the first room, it's a matter of watching the guide or not
Chapter 9 comb room took me 15 minutes
7C final room took me 3 hours
By far the hardest level for me personally. Mirror-C wasn't so bad once you understand/look up how you are supposed to do it, and Core-C is similarly long but has far easier plattforming.
you don't think I saw that sneaky cut at 0:51? still very impressive, well done
I like how he edited the song into the video separately so it wouldn't sound awkward when he cuts the video, smart!

HOW
The last screen of 7c feels like doing a golden berry run of any c side. It’s too long to be enjoyable.
this one frustrated me so much because it was like i could picture where to go and exactly what to do but it just took tons of practice to make it so. reminded me of piano in a really big way
This is a cakewalk compared to Farewell lmao
Sure, Farewell takes longer, but no single screen is as difficult as this, not even close. No, not even the final screen. I can't see how someone who actually completed 7c can ever think that.
@@leopignataro I agree
When the block started falling I about had a heart attack
Chapter 9 : allow me to introduce myself
Personally, I just wanna puke at this amount of difficulty.
I will never even begin to understand how humans can be so good in this. I raise my hands up, I surrender. Totally inexplicable.
This made me upset.. I’m struggling on summit 13 and this is what I have to do later? 😭
Did you do it?
I’m so happy I beat it! It’s really fun, I’m going for the golden strawberry now!
So it took me nearly *5 hours* to beat this
Edit: Also this is the only level so far that I was tempted to use assist mode on. I didn't use it though.
Took me 4h 40min. 1450 attempts. Got me doubting myself.
@@leopignataro it's pretty tough. Good luck on chapter 9 if you decide to try it (I think it took me 8 hours on my first try).
@_______ yes, I did! Very challenging indeed, but IMO no single screen is anywhere as hard as this one.
I legit spent like 80 minutes in front of my computer playing the last level non-stop, 362 deaths... holy shit dude definitely the hardest level I've seen until now (I'm afraid of chapter 9)
i havent even beaten all of the B-sides yet, wow.
I actually thought 5C was harder than this too. To be honest, 8-B was the hardest for me. But this is the level most people think is most difficult.
literally the reverse for me... lol
5C was really tough at first but then somehow at the 13 minute mark it all just clicked in mind lmao.

You know devs were giving no mercy with having to do that pixel perfect wall jump on that little block 1:06.

Well here's the thing - since i am pretty bad at corner bounce (can't get it consistently) i just dashed to the right side of the block and then did a neutral jump to get the crystal. Never failed to do that :)
This level is the reason Madeleine has anxiety
I gotta ask, how many attempts did this take?
I don't have my computer right now so I can't check, but if memory serves I had 108 deaths.
You are gud, Git gud. It took me like, 500 deaths to do the a-side on this level. And I had to assist mode the b-side.
Damn, it took me ~1700 deaths and 6 hours to do just this C-side
A little under 2 hours (after getting to the third screen in 8 minutes may I add) and a little over 650 deaths.
Bro i just did it today and it took me like 5 hours and over 1000 deaths...ive been known to be a super patient guy...and even my line of sanity was beggining to run thin
Is this the whole level? Like, does it not have the iterations of every area like the original summit?
PS: Still loving your content.
Yes it is the whole level, all C side are composed of 3 area, wich are absolutly insane, i died 500 times on that last screen...

Fair warning, it's a tad long.

And I congratulate all with me.
P.S. I agree
That third screen is the one that finally broke me. Maybe I'll best this game one day.
You can do this
i discovered the assist mode just at the end if this chapter, and im like, well fuck it, its the end of the game, let me just slow this down to 70% so i wont accidentally dash into the spikes for the hundred time.
And remember: You can do it
No

Feel like the b side for this was way harder. Maybe if you're counting no deaths then this is though.
I actually agree. I thought the L7 and L8 B-Sides were both harder than this. Most people I've talked to have said they thought this was the hardest level, though.
I’d say this is harder to beat than the b side, but the golden is wayyy more difficult on the B side. Way too long to be doable for me
