Awesome vid nice to see more working class hot hatches on the channel love seeing 30-40k hot hatch videos but sometimes it gets a bit stale with the same German motors on the channels need some more ST’s,VXR Renault RS’s on the channel 😁 owner seemed sound aswell and knew his stuff built not brought love it

Tidy build that, few points i would do. Build the gear box out and add an LSD. They really need it once you start making decent power. Brake upgrade is needed as the factory VXRs fade fast once up to proper fast road pace. 310s decent power from a VXR, when you start going much further than that you start needing really deep pockets. Highest i have personally seen was 475 but that was a fully built engine the lad had about 12K into.
I am building a 1.9 estate, 300hp 450 ftibs at 45 psi boost.
Started the build in august and this is the spec so far.
GTB 2260 converted to vacuum actuator on a tubular 4-1 manifold, 63mm boost side pipework into a custom 63mm inlet manifold. EGR, swirl flaps and antishudder valve deleted.
4 bar map, 80mm maf, AEM filter. R80CP3 high pressure pump 327 injectors insignia fuel rail with 2200 bar pressure sensor off a landrover.
Upgraded intercooler, a Provent system to handle proper crankcase scavenging (keeps the bottom end cool.).
Brembo 4 pots pads and discs, Lowered 50mm on Eibach progressive rate springs. Gearbox was rebuilt and upgraded with a larger endcase and bearings, new gears and syncros. Gizfab breather kit 3litres of millers 75-90 CRX+ LSD oil. Quafe LSD and a TTV single mass flywheel with a Helix autosport sprung clutch. 50% throw quickshifter kit, gear tower raised 50mm.
Prosport gauges to monitor the vitals, full ICE upgrade with pioneer dab 230, vibe amps and door speaks with 2 Trex 15 inch 3000w subs.
Still more planned for this year, Bilstien shocks, full 3 inch stainless straight pipe to twin exit. whiteline roll bars bodywork and will be finished in raptor paint.
At this point its about compromises, i could make more power but not without making boost lag a real issue. As it is it comes on power quickly, the powerband is massive and it drives like as well as a stock engine around town.
Finally someone modding their car sensibly to the limitations of a FWD car.
Tidy and 300bhp is all good without a gripper diff

They are pretty bad handling i know i use to own one and will easily spin up 3rd gear but with the right driver n mods they can be made alright handling, the sound and the excitement when driving one tho is something else

@andy harper I've had a Nurburgring edition for 7 years mine did handle shocking put up with it till the next mot rear bushes were absolutely knackered so i fully powerflexed the car with a RARB and Dap springs car was like it's on rails on the twistys which is what I prefer to drive over straight line speeding now has a wavetrac diff which has made it even better 😜
As I said I changed my brakes in mine first thing I did really cause they were shocking lol
@@mattc_82 i never bothered messing with mine handling wise i bought it with a polly bush rear end n that was it, i liked the challenge if im honest, I've drove my mates who has the ids suspension and a rear roll bar but it still wants to spin up into 3rd, my megane has a diff only spins the wheels in 1st so i can imagine it be a big difference on the vxr

🤔 self built 310bhp Astra… they are 240bhp standard. Getting 70bhp from a modern turbo car isn’t much.

Yes they are boring cars I don’t like them never did they just look rubbish to me but I would say well done to the owner who built this and it look so clean but sorry not my tipe of cars but well done 👍👍
@@x58evo2puma7 they look rubish compared to what a s3, focus st or a golf gti cause all look boring, as for driving s3 and golf gti of the same era are definitely boring i know I've drove them and focus st the 5pot sounds amazing but they need a clutch after a stage one map the engine needs a block mod for it to take over 300bhp and the inside is shocking
