I have seen where there is a 290hp tune for the B48 and they say nothing else is needed. I worry in doing that due to everything I know when more pressure is added thr temperature of the plugs being used needs to drop to avoid detention. In tou 295 tune did you have to swap out to clloer plugs?
@@lang1031 Hey, So on my car I've used the GP3 spec plugs and gapped them accordingly. I'll go and have a look for the plug code and the plug gap that I run and get back to you
@@F56_Marc Sweet. I would think if you get OEM plugs for a GP3 from BMW you should not have to gap them that should come preset. I do like the idea of running GP3 plugs however it should be a colder ugly with all of the extra boost it would be running. Good thought.
@@Mr_Yanna there is talk of a b48 + electric high performance car but again assuming 400hp is obtained in the f40 BMW that transmission is its current form the weak link

2 engine code the S runs A the BMW JCW is B with is lower compression they suffer with LSIP with is Shame as there the same rods and pistons as the 140I b58
LSPI* Low speed pre ignition It’s like super knock when the piston is on the way up pre ignition happens with puts bad strain on the engine the first thing to go on the B48 is the ring lands they snap off forge should help this

The GP3 is a weapon at 308 bhp but is reliable and will last . This motor running 400bhp will be in+out for repairs too much power in my opinion but probably a hoot to drive.
What b48 engines have blown? If there even are any, I'd love to know why - my money's on a bad tune on an un-built car. The JCW variant can handle 300hp with pretty minimal mods, I'm not surprised fully forged it's pushing 400 no prob.

how unreliable it will be, that engine wasn’t meant to go past 300ps for daily. 400ps id guess it will cut the lifespan to 30k miles or so. Engines goes for 3.5k.
Wdym, it's just upgrades to turbo, bigger intercooler and fuel injectors. None of this will break or wear out, it's designed to handle 400hp. Some stock Minis like the GP3 which has the same 2.0T engine are 300hp off the lot

Yeah the stock Manual Trans can’t handle that torque… the build seems super off. Just seems like a tune on a stock car. It’s also way too quiet

Nah the gearbox and driveshafts will give up first or even the clutch if the engine is forged its practically bullet proof at that power
