Phish fans are insane when it comes to details. Its as simple as a deep love of the music and the community created. As an old school Deadhead Jerry Garcia guy it makes me so happy to have John in our Universe!
I think it can all coexist in a pretty awesome way. I agree! I’m thankful to JM for getting me to listen to more Grateful Dead, just like I’m thankful to Dave Matthews for his collabs with Trey that have caused me to listen to Phish!
I don’t play, but am very intrigued and love the gear talk. Definitely in for merch! Love trying to convert people into the Mayerverse, especially the ones that think of him as the your body is wonderland guy.
I haven't seen much on stage footage of this, but there is a good chance the on-stage amp is on and it is simply a cable to a cabinet in the iso back stage. An amp is not usually in the iso, but rather the speaker cab.
Yeah, I should have been more specific about using the terms “amp”, “cab,” and “head” as interchangeable. I’d have to check JohnMayerGear again on IG, but I think you’re right. He’s not running any combos. Appreciate you watching!
Hey! Great channel! My guess is that the amps are feeding cabs in that crate. It would surprise me if the amps onstage weren't being used. Especially considering that he changed one recently. Having them onstage would allow him to easily and quickly tweak them if needed. Still, only a guess. He even might have another amp in there as well.
YES! The authority is here. I’m honored! I think what you said makes sense. Can’t see him ever using a dummy amp. Does he have a small combo on stage too?
Yup. They are hidden behind the screen...which, up close, isn't a solid screen like an LCD panel in your home. There are millions of these small LEDs in clusters that make up the screen. If you were to be close to it, there's actually quite a bit of space between them, so that's how the speakers are mounted behind it and are able to be heard through it.
i would want to go to a keith urban show and sit by one of his amps and hear him play guitar for 3 hours as much as i love john mayer i loveeee keith urban too!! also im pretty sure i have those same in ears which is cooL!
I'm catching up on the pod 😆 appreciate the shout out brother!
Dude! Absolutely. Need to have you on as a guest to talk about your BLK1 documentary!

Awesome! I knew there'd be people out there in that category. We'll definitely do more of it.

Great views on this, btw!

@@EverythingMayer not right now. The most recent setup is an UltraPhonix head, a Twin Reverb and a Dumble ODS
So are there banks of speakers behind the screen in the sphere? I guess I assumed that was the outer wall of it. I have never been there (yet).
