This is literally in my top ten of all time PTX covers. It is exceptional and they really are the masters of mash-ups/remixing two songs and making it sound like one.
Love the way the backing vocals sound on this one - I don't listen to this song nearly enough. They really click on this one - peak Avi-era PTX.

OMG, YOU'RE PSYCHIC! I've been binge-listening to this one since last night (but I was so sleep deprived that I thought it was Where Are U now? 😂)! It's such a clever mashup! On good days, I can actually somewhat hit all the notes, surprisingly (even Mitch's!) 😳 They make them sound pleasant for once 🤣

I keep forgetting about this one but every time I hear it I fall in love with it all over again because of the intricacy and creativity of the rhythm in the harmonies. It appeals to the jazzer in me. I guess it's because I'm not mad about either of the songs but then Pentatonix do their thing and well ... you know.
I only know Latch because years ago I was fascinated by a dance group called Boy Band and Dylan Mayoral in particular and they danced to it. A different kind of original creativity. I still follow Dylan Mayoral's work. The guy's a genius and still so young. It makes me sick. {stank face emoji}

I always think of Kirstin in this one as sassy. Her movements, her smile, her sound all add up to her just letting her sassy loose. Everyone gets a showcase moment, which is one of the fun things I love about this one. You can pick out each one and a moment you love individually, plus their amazing together moments.

Superimposing a screen grab of the title card over the video was yet another clever way to get by copyright! Kirstie claims to be 5'4", but I have it on pretty good authority that she's actually closer to 5'0"! With the rest of the group members ranging from 5'10" (Mitch) up to 6'4" (Scott), Kirstie is definitely towered over by the others. She said in an interview once that she always has to wear high heels on stage with them, otherwise she looks like a Munchkin!!
Hey; check out PTX Where are U Now. It came out at about the same time as this one, and it has the same unique, subtle nuances & beats. I think Avi, Kevin and Ben Bram were doing many of the arrangements at that time. Later, they used some professional arrangers, and for me, the music became more commercial and less raw, which may have been the aim, especially after Avi left. BTW, Kirstie is only about 5'4", but she usually wears super high heels, so she looks as tall as Mitch & Avi, who are 5'10" and 5'11 respectively. Kevin is about 6'2" and Scott 6'3" or 6'4" (I've heard both). In Imagine, you mentioned how short Avi looked, but he was standing further back than the others, and Mitch and Kirstie were both wearing heels. When they stand in a row, you can see it better.

That rhythm you noticed is a 3-against-2 time signature. It’s probably 4/4 vs 6/8. The 6/8 is that swingy beat, and the 4/4 is the more straightforward beat. Probably beyond the scope of this content, but it’s a pretty common time signature used when a percussionist is trying to mimic the sound of church bells on a rack of chimes - it’s not so random that the other musicians lose track of the beat, but it’s more like the slightly disorganised sound of bells that are swinging at different speeds.

I think Kirstie is 5'4" and I have to turn off the volume not up when this song comes on. So far in a year of following PTX this is the only cover that I dislike, not their singing but the song itself. Yech
