Illustrator - Textured Pattern - Create a Pattern Swatch with Texture

- Learn how to add texture to an Illustrator pattern swatch and to save it all as a new seamless repeating pattern swatch. I'll show you where to locate free downloadable vector textures to use and how to make these work as textures for your patterns. You will learn how to get a swatch out of the Swatches palette to work with. How to clip it and then add your texture as a transparency mask. Once that is done, I'll show you how to place the new textured swatch in the Swatches so you can use it. I will also explain what textures and patterns will work best with this approach without you needing to do much work with the texture to prepare it for use.

Thank you for this, I've said it before, I have to come to you for solutions I just can't figure out. 2 days of pure frustration with adding tecture into my artwork. Still don't quite understand why we use the transparency for this, but at least I now know one way to do it. Do you have any more classes on skillshare that would be helpful? edited * the key was clicking back in the first box to get back to regular layers, I mean who knew! (smile)
