  • @MFEGoingDeep this hidden gem can be found deep in the forest in Katahdin Ironworks. This obviously isn’t a vast underwater area to explore but I thought it would be neat to have a look in the pool below the falls. Reflecting a lot while visiting and then making this video. From thinking back to hearing the stories from my Dad being brought here by his Dad long ago camping and fishing, way before I was even a thought. To the times I have visited this place over the years and also bringing my son to see it. To all the countless others that have made memories here as well. It’s certainly a very beautiful and tranquil spot 😊
    If you haven’t subscribed to the channel yet I would greatly appreciate your support and as always thanks for watching! 👍🐟

    Nice! I was surprised no fish waiting for goodies to wash down on through!

      I was expecting there was going to be 🤷‍♂️ there’s all kinds of other little pools and runs all up and down that where I can’t really maneuver and look with the drone, I’m sure there was a few around!

    I caught a nice Salmon from that pool some 20 years ago.

      I never knew Salmon to be in there but makes sense as it connects to the pleasant river and that would be as far as they could go. Cool!

      One of my wife's relatives works at the Green Lake hatchery. He told me that they were trying to restore the Samon population in that area,
      I was kidding him about how fat the Brook Trout were in White Brook from eating the Salmon fry.
      Thre's a great pool at the White Brook camp sites on the road to Gulf Hagas. It's full of fat Brook Trout.

    Pretty interesting that this video could be so great without a single fish in the video. I have always wished I could visit the place I fish, but underwater like another fish. Watching the way water moves directly under some plunges and boil surface is really an education. Oh, now I understand why fish how and why fish might live there. Thanks.

      I appreciate you saying this cause you get it! Besides the history I have with this location I figured it would be a given to see some native trout in the pool. I was actually shocked I didn’t see any as my experience had always been at least a few small ones there hanging out. But watching it after the fact it’s like this is still neat, have to at least make a short video out of it 😊

      If you start running out of interesting places to film maybe you could move over to New Hampshire and Vermont Lake Champlain would be VERY interesting!!

      @@MFEGoingDeep Can't wait. I used to snorkel it but it's far too dark, be careful of the currents m8, liked and subbed I love this type of content especially in my back yard.

      The lights will help! Yeah that’ll be the key is going when the water is lower and a little less current. It can handle some but not when it’s rip roaring through there. Thanks for subscribing! 👍

    IM SURPRISED there are no trout or any other kinds of fish in there!!

    • @MFEGoingDeep
      @MFEGoingDeep  14 дней назад

      I was too! Usually always some trout swimming around in there. Could’ve just been the timing, someone may have just caught a few out of there and no others had moved upstream yet.

      @@MFEGoingDeep I have been thinking about this, I wonder, are there any large and steep falls below these falls? If so, maybe the ONLY way fish could get there is if they either were stocked in by the Main fish and game or sombody else,or maybe a large hawk or eagle could drop a few over the years, VERY unlikely tho, looks to ME as a VERY good place to drop in a line , ( maybe fished out?? you think??? ).

    • @MFEGoingDeep
      @MFEGoingDeep  14 дней назад

      My guess is it had been fished recently and there had been a rainfall to raise the water enough to let more trout move up and into the pool. The waterfall here would be the only major barrier to this point

    Talk about freestone. Plenty of oxygen nothing to eat for the fish.

      I know they definitely don’t shy away from a worm and spinner that’s for sure. They see a meal like that floating by they’re going for it!

      @@MFEGoingDeep That's what I find interesting. Brook Trout especially are both simultaneously skittish and voracious.
