I bought a tool box and got really into organizing edc gear, especially knives, guns and flashlights because of damn Pinterest back in the day. Seeing how people organize edc gear is a therapy for me.
Hi buddy. The gerstner company was established in dayton oh in about 1906 . They made high end machinists chests. The older ones bring a bunch when they sell . I really enjoyed the unboxing with you and Kara live . I think we should send you and Kara to blade next year. If we all donate a little , it won't be that much . You guys sure deserve it . You two represent the working class in the knife world .
Have been using the $70 Harbor Freight box for a couple years but inherited my Uncle’s Model 52 Gerstner so now I am cleaning and doing a minimal restoration job on it It is much larger and WAY better Thanks for the video pal!
Awesome, I have this chest since more than a year ago, I purchased it after watching a video where Nick Shabazz was reviewing it and I was sold. I purchased it right away with another base module that you can place underneath this chest that will increase the capacity to 3 more drawers (yes I have a lot of knives).
Great new storage, You needed something to store 1/1000 of your collection in, Fantastic channel, Jared, you have so much knowledge. Thanks for sharing it.
Great box! I literally just picked up the GI-T16 last week -- it's the smaller 6-drawer version (a middle-ground between yours and the much-smaller 4-drawer one you also linked to). I'd been hyper-shopping for at least 6-months (and more casually shopping for much longer) for a better way to store my knives, and finally bit the bullet on one of these Gerstner Internationals. Very happy with it so far!
I stand corrected, lol its extremely similar as in the same manufacturer but under a different company name. An its larger drawers, it doesn't have the two in the top middle. But very nicely made, as well as the mirror an nice green felt lined drawers. Thank man love what your doing.
A place for everything and everything in its place! It's beautiful. Thanks Mr Amazing! I've been using the Carhartt tool rolls. They're great, but that's next level! Don't address the haters. They don't need the attention! ✌️
I got one of these last year from harbor freight and really enjoy it as an edc/knife chest. A good value to at $90. The drawers are slightly different but still works really well. Great video 👍
Absolutely, i threw in some links to a few other options some more affordable, i cant get a link to that specific one but they are still some great value options
I need something like this!! Jerad, I'm getting close to hitting 100 knives! Lol! Using 2 portable cases I got off Amazon at the moment but this is so much better! I'm now collecting pens and have an extensive O-light collection too!
That is actually a portable desk designed for army officers. This is awesome that someone thought to use it for tools as we don't consider something this size as portable anymore. I am sure glad I wasn't the officers porter who had to carry and set up all the so called portable stuff of the 18th and 19th centuries.
That is nonsense. Gerstners were made for machinist's tools. The odd drawer in the middle is for the machinist book. This is one is sadly made in China. The REAL Gerstners are still crafted in the USA. This one carries a badge that says GERSTNER INTERNATIONAL.
@@garrockwaters304 I'm not sure but the paper work did say New Jersey I believe but you might be right, along with so many other things being made over seas sad to say
I have a chest very similar to this !! My wife got it for me last Christmas !! The only difference is that mine doesn’t have two small drawers in the middle . Thanks for the video !! Take care brother
This is really nice. I’ve seen the Shabazz collection updates with his but this is really comprehensive overview. Looking forward to your collection video featuring this very nice chest. Thanks Neeves for all of the hard work and attention to your audience. Much appreciated!
Wow. The very next day you have the chest in service, to you and to us. You sir, from that action, I see are trustworthy, have a quality highly prized.
Beautiful stuff brother, you only get things because of who you are by that I don’t mean a knife nut RUclipsr but because you are a genuine nice person. I got a chest more or less the same it was my Grandfather’s work chest it’s nearly 100 years old and still as solid as the day he had it, only thing I will say is make sure to put some of the gel water catchers in there, if you get any sort of humidity in the house. They do seem to suck up moisture out of the air so that’s just a little bit of a heads up for you brother. You will tell easy as soon as you get anyone of the draws start to feel like it’s slightly to big for it’s place that’s your first hint of the water it’s pulling in. I would just oil the whole thing but it’s got so many little bits n marks put there by him and then my father that I wouldn’t want to lose them . Feck look out I’m writing a book lol stay safe and healthy brother 😘👍
Great idea thank you I will definitely do that, lucky after so many knives I got a lot of extra do not eat moisture packets, and it's incredible that you still have that chest, me and another guy were talking about those and how they were used as a military box, I brought up that because they were hand made back then with insane build quality and were so much more durable, heavy as well, I've always been fascinated with things like that since I was a carpenter I cab appreciate the craftsmanship
I had to laugh while watching your video... I also collect and make knives and of course, I have a several Gerstner Machinists boxes... it’s kinda like collecting knives, one or a few are never really enough, right, lol. Great looking knives too along with a great video thanks for sharing.
Here I am seeing the thumbnail and saying, “hey, I have that.” Then I watch the video and Google the brand then realize I have the Harbor Freight version. 🤦♂️ 😂 I can’t complain though as it has served me well. The quality is fantastic. I can only imagine yours is equal to better than mine.
You are slowly becoming Nick Shabazz Jr. Same exact edc/knife box. Pretty soon you'll be wearing a superhero mask to hide your face. 😂 Gotta give ya crap Jerad! Very cool edc/knife box though. Great video once again Jerad!
I wonder why they change something I have had my box for about 5 years but the pins that are blocking your two top drawers don't block mine. They are much closer to the center and the pins are lined up between the middle drawer and the outer drawers it's not a big deal I was just wondering the purpose of moving them to block the two top drawers. Gerstner does make a great product and love the pride they put into it. Great vid thanks for showing the unboxing and very nice gift.
Like someone below has already said you can pick one of these up at Harbor freight for half the price somewhere around 75 bucks. I modded mine by removing all the hardware except the corners, removing the front little table and cutting an inch and a half off the bottom so it didn’t sit so tall on my dresser. I also build a removal tray 1 1/4” deep that sits in the top and creates The space below the tray for my prized knives to stay out of sight.
Just an idea,Use little cakes of CAMFORE,this wil draw all the moister out of your box, helps what ever u put in drawers from rusting, I was a machinist bought my first gerster tool box in 1977,store all my micrometers, indicators, all my Starret tools in LOL u put hand tools in that box u need your butt kicked, mine has one drawer in the middle,Keep your machinst hand book and my Trig book in that drawer

Sorry for the long winded comment mate. Keep up the good work and keep fighting the good fight. J

@@NeevesKnives I seen the harbor freight one. And the gerstner one doesn’t seem to be any more well built. Just very confused at how they arrived at and justify a nearly 400 dollar price tag.
