Don't store your passport in your carry-on suitcase when it's in the overhead bin. If someone takes your suitcase, you're going to to seriously out of luck.
Yes, good advice! I guy took my luggage bc he said it looked like his. And I have to buy all new makeup and brushes for my trip bc I didn’t get my luggage back until after my trip since he took a transfer flight to Texas.
@@islandgurl4123 I use a lock on it also. Plus I put a piece of color tape with initials on both sides and small strip on handle side or on handle. Easy to see.
Great tips. Thank you! I would add using the restroom before you board your flight. It could be an hour before you have access to a restroom on the plane.
Yesss once Using the restroom right before a boarding the flight a 2 1/2 hour flight I was so happy that I did because I had khaki pants on and I started my period and I caught it if I would’ve sat on a 2 1/2 hour playing it would’ve been a disaster and I would never have known about it as I walk to the airport at my destination but empty your bladder before you get on a plane most definitely
Yes dress up! As an American I used to be casual, but the culture of my husband dressed business casual, and oftentimes are given compliments for their comfortable but dress attire. Since then, I’ve continued this way, and receive many compliments and sometimes an upgrade last minute!❣️
My ten tips I. make sure before you go through border control , you sort your belongings in your carry- on bag into plastic bags for example cosmetics , metal items , electronic items into different plastic bags so if they need to be checked , they can access them quickly . 2. Lock your money , bankcards and valuables in your bag with a small combination lock because there are thieves who steal peoples valuables because often when the bag goes through the security scanner machine ahead of you because you can't see what is happening ahead of you . 3. Always leave for the airport and give yourself lots of time because delays on the road etc can cause you to miss your flight because you never know long the border control queue will be once you get to the airport 4 . Airport food and drinks are often very overpriced often more than 5 times more than you can buy elsewhere in the same city , so to save money , pack your own drinks and food before you go the airport . 5 . Once the boarding call is made , try to get up closer to where the boarding queue starts because if you are near the end of those that board last , your carry -on bag may not fit in the overhead lockers because they are completely full and they will put the bag with the checked luggage underneath the aircraft and it is possible that the luggage could be lost or delayed.and you could lose important travel documents etc . 6. Make sure everything is removed from your pockets before going through security as it will save you the time of going through twice . 7. Make sure you carry some warm clothing with you while on board as the temperature inside the aircraft can sometimes can be too cold and also make sure your clothing is comfortable for sitting down on your trip . 8. Always make sure anything you take into the destination country is legal for that country for example prescription drugs you may be carrying also in some countries they may go through your phone or your computer to make sure that the content is permissible in their country . 9. Always make sure you are at the right boarding gate by checking on the screen regularly because often they can change the border gate very close to the departure times and sometimes the new boarding gate can be long distance from the first displayed boarding gate . 10 . Always make sure that your passport and boarding tickets are in a safe place on you board because I have seen people at the people being in a panic because they have lost their most important documents because they have been careless .
I keep Xmas gift packs of toiletries in the heavy duty clear PVC shower bags to reuse for travel. I try to take a carry-on bag only as I on a business trip wear my suit 2 days or taking a suit pack with casual work out gear & cheap sports shoes. I find taking 2 business shirts means a wash in the bathroom sink & iron & I am good for a week adding a few ties in the suit carrier's pockets. I like to dump the contents of my pockets into a large zip lock bag as I go through security check point - these are reusable & in a rush I can grab the sealed bag & go as I replace the items in my pockets.
@@aoefeable These all stay under any limits & here in Australia - we don't have any issues ...................... yet. The stick deodorant does not count as does the shaving creme stick. These are more like sample sizes but in a solid form - we have not gone so anal on restrictions but things can change.
@@aoefeable You have to freeze the drinks, sip them if partially melted right before security. Saw where someone said to let them know you have frozen bottles going through.
I was shopping with my sister and brother-in-law we got separated in the airport and then I see on the overhead screen that her gate had changed. I texted them and we met at new gate. I also saw a suggestion to put your phone and other valuables in the first bin when going through security. Also do not allow somebody to crowd you while waiting for your items to come out. A woman that was behind me decided she was gonna stand in front of me waiting for items to come from scanner. I asked her politely to move.
I always bring facial moisturizer, lip balm and saline nasal spray to combat the dry cabin air. I always fill my water bottle and make sure I have water throughout the flight. I’ll never forget a time where I had to wait over an hour for water at my seat. My medication easily dehydrates me and it was brutal. Never drink plane tap water, rather get the bottled spring water.
Not Haribo sugar free candy- but my husband once had a work lunch the day of our flight from Toronto to Paris and decided it would be a good idea to have seafood bisk for his meal. I gave him the side eye when he told me because I thought it was the most ridiculous choice to eat the day of an international flight. The flight over was fine for him, but once we got to Paris the next morning and began sight seeing- he spent the whole day running around Paris in a panic looking for public toilets while I sat around waiting in various parks and churches for him. On one occasion he came back minus his shirt - as much to his dismay, he found there was no toilet paper left.
I just read an amazing story on an Amazon review about those Gummi Bears - your poor husband, is all I can say - why is that product not banned - thx for your story - Cheers from Canada 🍁
So the issue with the gummy bears is that they cause diarrhoea? It is beyond annoying that people have SUCH a problem being specific about a normal human body function that EVERYBODY does🙄
Not sure if it's altitude and intestinal pressure changes, dry air, stress of getting to, through, and past the airport and inability to relax on flights, etc, that might impact any random individual, BUT, I have had no terrestrial problems with Albansese World's Best 12 Flavor Gummies. So, I suspect I'll be ok on a flight. I typically get the ~30 oz bag, at ~$7.50, not the 4 oz bag at $4.40. I can wipe out out 8 to 20 oz of Albansese in front of my computer while burning up brain energy designing things. Personally, Haribo and Black Forest are not what I've bought more than once. Haribo is too stiff for my liking, almost like hard chews (the round ones) at the theaters. Black Forest SMELLS nice, but I found it too "dissolve-y". I've even chowed down on Albanese and had plain black coffee numerous times. To be honest, the first 3 or 4 ~4-oz bags gave me sugar-high-like feelings, but not as much as I would get almost regularly with the Safeway clear-container packaged ones I suspect are Albanese repackaged for $5.00+ in ~ 6 or 7 oz weight. (But, for some reason, the Safeway gummies seem to either have more real sugar, or they have a fake sugar my body doesn't tolerate ~20-50% of the time.) To be clear, I'm only talking about gummies and MY OWN body chemistry/gut fauna. Your own experiences may vary by what you eat proximate to gummies, your health, fitness, etc. Chews! Umm, cheers.
1. Pack things you need (earplugs, meds, etc) in your personal item bag - not in the carry on that will be stored in the overhead bin. 2. Bring a snack/drink 3. Don’t assume anything (headphones, blankets, snack) is provided for free 4. Dress comfortably, bring contact solution, glasses, or moisturizer to mitigate dry air 5. Make sure all of your devices and batteries have a full charge and that you have the proper plug-in charger and cord 6. Download some media or reading content on to your tablet before your flight because you may not have any online access 7. Don’t try new foods before your flight…..let that sit right there…..
@@davidmoser3535 yes and then I summarized it so people can remember everything she said...visual, audio and kinesthetic presentations aid in memorable learning.
Thanks for the tips. Could you clarify the dimensions of the hand carry bag. How many items and how many kgs are allowed for hand carry? You mentioned Personal item bag and carry on bag. Could you elaborate how many kgs would be allowed in 1) international sector 2) domestic sector ( internal travel for U S ). Thanks
@@Xia-hu I don't see any issue asking it in a comment section. The people are extremely helpful. I'm asking as per their personal experiences. There is a dimension mentioned for carriers but we were allowed a bigger dimension in Asia, UK and Australia. Don't know if the same applies to the US.
@Mike's World Na Thanks a ton. Really appreciate your best wishes and your clarifications. The 19" standard trolley is practically useless for us as it eats up all the weight allowance. The 21 " trolley allows us to pack efficiently . Our only concern is that the US carriers may not allow it . What do you think is the best course of action? Take care
Compression socks / leggings These will come in handy for long flights there will be a good chance you may get some feet and leg swelling. If you take your shoes off during the flight you may notice they feel super tight when you land. Compression socks will help tame that down a lot. P.S. I only recommend this for very long flights or if you suffer from leg swelling as it is.
One thing I would like to add here. There is such thing like security surveillance at the airports. So, a passenger who starts to repack the bags right before checking them in is highly likely to draw unwanted attention from security. This leaads often to "lost" luggage stories, tighter than ever security measures directed exactly at this passenger and other uncomfortable things. So, prepare your check-in bags and hand bags in advance.
Yeah, when I was Mexico a few years ago, I can only describe what the baggage handlers did to my bag as an explosion. I had to catch the transfer flight, so I quickly purchased a crappy overpriced case and transferred all my belongings to the new case. The two guards with machine guns were eyeing me rather suspiciously and creeping ever closer as I'm sure I looked suspicious as hell. When done I left my destroyed bag next to a trash can as it was too big to go in it. By the time I made it to the gate area the old bag was gone, which was probably no more than a minute later. A random unattended blown out bag in an airport might make some people uncomfortable and they got rid of it right away. Made the flight and didn't get shot, so I guess it was a good day.
Happy to say that on my recent flight with Korean Air (14+ hours) I got 2 full meals, pillow and blanket all totally free! As well as free wine!! They only down side was between the meals u rarely would see an attendant even to get water
I wear comfortable smart casual clothes, acceptable anywhere. A business acquaintance was once travelling in t-shirt and jeans, and turned up at the business meeting the next day wearing these, because KLM lost his checked luggage when he changed planes at Amsterdam. Also, if you choose the right carry-on luggage, there are outside pockets for the things you need during the flight, so you don’t need to open the whole thing up. It’s much easier to lose one of two bags you are carrying than a single bag, so I always try to travel with one bag if I’m not checking luggage.
As a pilot family, we all fly with a roller and a personal. In the personal goes all liquids until TSA, which leaves room for snacks after TSA, masks/sanitizing wipes, meds, pj’s, entertainment, important docs, cords, backup batteries, an empty water bottle, and any sleep aids for the kids like a stuffy or blanket. We all wear fleece jackets that act as a pillow or blanket on the flight as well. For 7+ hour trips I will bring a glorified fanny pack, because many times I can put the extras in there, including compression socks, toiletries, sleeping mask, earplugs. It’s never stuffed full, and have never been stopped by gate agents. I will also carry at LEAST enough foreign currency to get me through my first day at our destination. Exchanges aren’t always open when you land, and thieves watch at ATM’s. And since we are usually non-revving, we have to dress up. 😇
My wife always wears a blouse, skirt, and jacket when we fly. I always wear gray slacks, a white shirt, a tie and a navy sports jacket. We started flying in 1968, and we refuse to down-grade our appearances. You do you, we'll do us. By the way, looking classy never hurt our flying experience and has gotten us (the gate attendant told us) bumped to First Class at least 30 times in our years of flying.
You can allso buy the portable go chargers for your phone at target or wal mart for about $ 10..put it in your purse or carry on...one charge on it is givin you about 10 hours charge time..an they are rechargeable....
I invested in a new Fanny pack that I can wear across my chest once I’m buckled in my seat. It’s convenient for storing my headphones, cough drops (great for dry throat on planes), charging bank, my passport, credit card to buy food on board, lip balm, mints and hand wipes. And I never fly without my travel blanket!
Yes, even if you're not allowed to have an additional bag. I wear it beneath the jacket or clothes, and money and credit card in a belt. Did this successfully already, works a treat. Those bags are called body or security bag and flat. They go nearly under the arm/at the side.
Wow I remember when we had free meals and snacks in domestic flights as well as all international sadly not in domestic flights unless you upgraded to business and or first class
Great video as always. I always bring with me the travel pillow , wired headphones and an airline blanket from a prior flight. These do not count as your personal item or carry-on item allowance. Even if you have the right charging cable sometimes the outlets at your seat just don’t work. Always make sure you’re items are fully charged at home and bring your own battery power pack. Regarding meals, it will usually state on your ticket if a meal will be provided. I usually find that on international flights if it’s with a major carrier that partnered with a European airline and technically you are on that European airline they provide meals and free wine, beer, champagne ( ie booked with Delta but operated by Air France or KLM). I recently flew to Italy and it was an Air France flight booked thru Delta. Not only did they provide free dinner, free snacks free alcohol but they also provided free breakfast as well.
Yes, dress up - but also comfortable. I use my Airpods on the plane, instead of a second wired set, by bringing along an AirFly dongle. It not only will work as an excellent transmitter for the sound on the flight entertainment screen, but if you're renting a car and it doesn't have a way to connect to your iPhone, you can use it to transmit your phone audio to your car's entertainment and/or navigation system.
and one more thing I would add is that, no matter how much you prepare, things might still go completely different to what you planned. I did basically everything you said here, and more, since I've been watching you videos, and still had a miserable flight. I couldn't fit my backpack under my seat because of a stupid ife box, and the overhead bins were completely full, so I had to put it under my neighbor's seat, who slept most of the flight. and there we no meals on an intl flight. and the stupid ife was also broken. thankfully I had a meal just before boarding, so mostly I just had to deal with the boredom. I'm not saying you shouldn't prepare, but try not to stress out too much, and accept that sometimes things are completely outside of your control.
I travel a LOT and yes it’s always something!!! Bags dont always fit under seats.. sometimes (like bulkhead rows ) there is NO place for your purse even!!
yep, can something add to that - 'cause i was on a airport, the water-fountain (a big airport, and ther was only one in that "wing", and that one was broken) didn't work, so i had to buy a bottle of water... all 'cause that it was a bit horrible. but, they work on that airport, so it could be, that they will build maybe one more when that section is under construction. i even didn't had a meal while on a short international flight (i mean, obvious, 'cause the flight-time was just a bit over a hour) - but at least got on that flight a water-bottle and a snack. for my long-distance international one, i got meals included - so that wasn't a problem, but that airport there was a maze - so, if you want to save time, look if you can find a map of the airport-terminal - so that you don't run around and maybe even look sad, when the plane leaves without you.
@@crashoverride6413 tip: if in Europe, water in the washrooms are usually drinking water, at least in most EU countries, so you can fill your water bottle up there too.
NO DRESS UP. These are all very good tips. I DO wear jeans when I fly, but they're both stretchy and at least one size too big to allow for my body to expand during flight and to allow for more things to fit in them. Sometimes you can't even count on the airline's web site to know what will or will not be on the plane. I just got back from a round-trip I flew in first class, and was surprised to learn that they did NOT supply blankets on a red-eye but DID supply them on a morning flight(!). If there are food choices, they never have a list of ingredients on the web site. If you're lucky, the flight attendants might have them on the plane, but it's hit or miss. If you've got life-threatening food allergies, your best bet is to bring food items in your carry-on or, if you can, buy them at the airport (airport food places are far more likely to have ingredient lists).
There's many videos on here from "flight attendants" that say to dress up so you have a chance of being upgraded. Apparently those who appear "comfortable" will most certainly be overlooked. An A-to-C adapter and power bank are probably good items to have in your personal item.
dont agree. upgrades are usually made by the carrier based on the level of your ticket class and/or the status of your milage program. the most expensive tickets classes and the highest mileage program levels get priority on upgrades. the decisions about an upgrade are also usally made just before boarding but not after inspecting somebodys outfit. the staff just calls the passengers to be upgraded to the counter to hand over the new boarding pass. I dont know of anybody who has been refused the upgrade after appearing at the gate counter due to an unappropriate outfit.
I always bring my own snacks or grab fast food on my way to the airport! Last trip to Tx I just drank water bc I was fasting on way back I got can of soda. Fill up water bottle once past security. Bring a fully charged power bank! I have plenty audios and ebooks on my kindle app on my tablet and phone.
behind those charging stations can be skimmers...two way connectors... one to charge and the other to download....all your personal data.... enable app lock for banking and personal folders on your mobile...
I do dress up but I am also very comfortable. On the clothing vein, don't under-estimate how cold it can be on the plane and dress accordingly. Last flight I saw a girl in a vest top and sandals she looked so uncomfortable because the aircraft was so cold. I dress in layers to that I can put on and remove clothes depending on how I feel.
Yes yes yes! I forgot my sweater in Minnesota and took a delta to Hawaii my home and they didn’t have a blanket on the whole plane. I wanted to cry it was so cold. And I’m over 70 so I wasn’t wearing shorts or sandals just Pants and a top. This time I bringing two sweaters and a hoodie that I’ve never worn in my life just in case
No dress up. Nice athletic wear pants and nice hoodie on long haul flights. I also wear compression socks. I also bring lots of snacks and refill water bottle. Last year flying Air Canada on the Toronto to Athens leg got both dinner and breakfast for no extra charge. Going to Madrid next week AA and states Chicago to London leg meal is included.
I like to board with my headphones - pen & charging cable in my shirt pocket. I scored a free foldable water bottle at a trade show so it goes through security before I fill it up. I keep a battery bank with me that stays with my tablet. If meals need to be paid for I always have cash ready in my pocket to pay - rather than try to find my wallet. When I travel for work I take a compendium with my tablet + $60.00 in cash in the zip pocket.
I just flew China airlines to Taipei and then Bangkok got food twice in a 12 hour flight on the return flight I got food also very roomy planes if you get cold they have blankets and little pillows

Nice list for complete beginners. Bring two sets of headphones and don't forget an airplane adapter to make sure you get stereo. Most new planes do not require them but you never know.
First time I came across a flight that didn’t have food not even to purchase was southwest 8 hr flight and I’m diabetic poor stewardess brought me a bunch of the snacks they hand out (so nice) being from Canada I didn’t know about this type of airline we have them here now too but didn’t back then
Some or most airports in the US seem to allow you to bring outside food with you through security (such as granola bars, chips, etc). On a few flights, I was never asked about this stuff, even though they knew I had it in my carry-on bag (they searched the bags but never said anything). So I would say buy snacks before you go to the airport and pack them on your carry-on bag to consume during the flight. Obviously drinks are not allowed but most foods generally can be bought through security and on the plane. My suggestion for something to drink is to bring an empty water bottle you can fill up at the airport. If you do this, then you don't have to buy any food or drink at the airport (I think some of these rules were relaxed because of COVID especially the ones where you are sometimes / now allowed to bring outside food on the plane, as they likely understand some people are concerned about health and cleanliness and would rather buy their own food or bring it from home). For most flights I don't dress up and usually wear "Wind" pants because they are more comfortable, and a t-shirt if it's warm enough (and I'll bring a sweatshirt too, even if it's summer because sometimes the aircraft can get chilly with the AC running even on hot days and especially on longer flights where your body has time to cool down to the airplanes temperature with the AC running; plus a sweatshirt or light jacket also make a great pillow if you need one, which I tend to bring a small travel pillow anyway along with ear plugs). I rarely dress up for flights, unless it's a short flight and I won't have time to get dressed prior to the flight. Then usually I'll just wear a T shirt, dress pants, and bring my collered shirt in a backpack to put on later, but otherwise am partially dressed up if I"m going straight from the airport to a meeting.
About food... I ALWAYS carry a variation of foods for the airport: hard boiled eggs, cooked bacon, almond flour tortillas, sandwiches, cheeses, crackers, strawberries, apples, blueberries, cooked quinoa... can't think of more, and they have never taken food away from me! I was born in a third world country and I dont care what people think of me... Im better off eating healthy and free 🤭
Something I didn't learn until my most recent trip, because I dumped my ice out of my cup - you can KEEP your ice in your cups when you go through security! The TSA agent directing the lines told me as I was dumping it 'Hey, you can keep....your ice" I follow a special diet, so I always have Lara bars, teas, granulated honey packets and other snacks in the event that the airline has food I can't eat (like it has tomatoes or peppers in it - I'm allergic) Never have been stopped for having such snacks.
Yeah I didn't know they did until I was flying back from Las Vegas once and I saw a family that had things like candy bars, and small boxes of cereals for their kids (which I know they didn't buy in the airport) and i asked and they said that yes you can bring food through security as long as it passes TSA guidelines (ie. mainly apply to fluids) and is reasonable (you obviously can't bring a carry-on full of food that exceeds carry-on weights/sizes for example. But I always now pack a few granolla bars, and/or snacks, and then bring a refillable (but empty) water bottle through security and then fill it up at one of the fountains. Haven't needed to buy any food at an airport in probably the past dozen flights or so.
I actually had several ask me about a dressy blouse! It was stretchy, easy to wash and dry and my other clothes were more hiking clothes which were harder to dry!
I used to love flying, but with all these do this, not that videos going on YT, I hope I don't need to fly again. It was so exciting flying back in the 60's, 70's and 80's!!!
Regarding buying your own snacks and drinks at the airport - if you are flying to the U.S., it's possible that the drinks will be confiscated before boarding because of the concern over liquid explosives. This happened to me in Chile, despite purchasing water after going through the security screening.
It can be tricky to find a way to fill your water bottle at the airport. Some have water fountains or filling stations and some allow free refills at food outlets but sometimes none is available. Don’t be afraid to ask at a Starbucks or another outlet. It helps if you’ve bought a drink from them first and you ask really sweetly.
No dress-up. I wore a suit once for a flight from Denver to Charlotte to Miami a few years ago, thinking it would save me some time before a meeting. Besides being stared at like I had two heads by the surrounding passengers, it was highly uncomfortable, even with the jacket off.
We just flew from Canada to Amsterdam and Amsterdam to Abu Dhabi via KLM. Free meals, snacks, booze, blanket and (crappy) headphones. Also a free kit of little toys for our toddler.
Exactly. We flew from Canada to Amsterdam in July and we got dinner and breakfast along with free drinks plus blanket at our seat and earphones. Not sure what crappy airlines people are travelling internationally that don’t provide meals.
What airline doesn't serve a meal on an international flight? I fly all the time on all different airlines, and never had I had to pay for a meal. Some of these "hints" are pretty common sense, unless you have never flown before.
I just discovered your videos and love them! This is a bit unrelated but over my many flights to Europe I found a way to really reduce jet lag. I drink nothing but lots of water, (and an occasional cup of coffee) for the entire day before my flight, the day of the flight, and during the flight. This has cut my jag lag time to one day instead of 3 or 4. Hope this is helpful!
Just FYI, many Hawaiian Airline flights do not take any sort of wired headphones. There is no longer any sort of plug in. They will only accept Bluetooth headsets or earbuds.
For the USB/USB-C thing, just buy an adatper that goes from USB to USB-C (you can buy them cheap) or buy a USB to USB-C charging cable and you shouldn't have any issues. Most places do still use regular USB as it's most common and most devices either have a converter adapter or you can get one. I would say it may be helpful even to bring a small (say 10,000 mAH) battery pack, especially for long flights. Personally I just turn off my phone during flights since I can't do anything with it anyway and just watch things on my tablet or work, which the tablet is not mandatory when I get off the plane if the battery is dead (but I would need my phone to make calls, and look up directions, reservations ,etc). So a battery pack can also be a life saver especially if you plan to use your phone during the flight.
'Pack items you want in a small backpack that you can keep with you during your flight.' The backpack the passenger was boarding with at 1:03 is not hardly small. It is big enough to carry Carlos Ghosn. It is bigger than the passenger is. If that is small, she would need a pack mule to carry a 'large' backpack. ;-D)
Yeah I have a small backpack that I can fit my iPad plus everything else I need, I don’t use a roller carry on unless I am just going away for a few days.
Please don't wear fragrances or use scented lotions on the planes. Some of us are allergic. On the ground, we can step away and remove ourselves from the situation. I can't do that on a packed plane.
Thank you. I too am allergic and respiratory arrest is not fun. For that person who asked why you should stink, try taking a shower if you think you stink.
Everything provided by the airline during your flight will be disclosed in your purchase agreement for the ticket. I do feel that if IFE is not provided in the seatback, at the very least wi-fi should be provided in this day and age. I also fast the day before the flight(s) and finally eat somewhere near the gate no matter the cost.
I found some surprisingly good looking, yet comfortable pants. They are pull on, elastic waisted pants with a little spandex in the fabric. Yet they don’t look like yoga pants or leggings. And they have pockets! Talbots calls them everyday stretch straight leg pants. Beta brand also carries nice pants for travel, as does North Style and J Jill. I recommend buying them early enough to alter if needed. On top I layer, preferably with a sweater that has pockets over a comfortable tee. I love your videos - such practical advice! Please keep them coming!
Beta brand has Gorgeous pants and they come in extra short so I don’t have to alter them. I prefer a long dress or Athleta Brooklyn slacks not joggers. Always bring a sweater or a hoodie
I’m not much of a snacker but I could see the need to pack snacks on longer flights or during-mealtime flights. A go-to snack I love is a good ol’ PayDay candy bar but I just realized this would be a terrible idea to bring on a plane in case of allergies!
Flying one on Wednesday with my kid Berlin to Singapore on Scoot Airlines. Had a few meal options for around 10€, but my kid is a picky eater and I know he won’t touch those offered, so not paying the price and eating right before boarding.
@@submarinerswife1114 When I'm flying with low cost airlines I just get a KFC or BK or McD burger or two packed. Cheap and reliable though not particularly desirable for those with finer tastes.
No dress up; sweat pants, always and sliders with socks make it easier through TSA. Always, always, bring a change of clothes, underwear, and a manual toothbrush in your backpack. In the event your luggage gets stolen, or misplaced for 24 hrs. I try to travel prepared
They make little blue-tooth plug in devices now that you can put in the headphone jack in the in flight entertainment system and connect wireless earbuds to them that way!
I actually carry a briefcase rather than a backpack. But I agree pack what you want during the flight in whatever you put under the seat in front of you. I am reevaluating and may start parking a small backpack again. I wear a suite when traveling for business, but I am very casual when traveling for vacations and personal reasons unrelated to work.
Great information. I also take a small self charger (it’s shaped like a tiny creamsicle) just incase there are no ports and I’ve not been able to charge a bit before getting on the plane. I’m tiny and finding they’ve returned basic seats close. If you need extra room these seats are now extra. Don’t expect help from staff getting suitcase into overhead bin. Thank goodness for all the passenger gentlemen and women who’ve helped me in the past 8 years. I just returned home last week. The 2 flights were around 1-2 hours. The first was longest and early morning. Free drinks were available. Alcoholic were extra. The 2nd and shortest had nothing served. The pretzels available tasted as if they’d been in storage during COVID and now brought out. The 2nd plane was older. No screens or charging. Seats crammed together. I’m a pretty regular flier so all these things didn’t ruin my trip though they might someone else’s. I can’t use a backpack anymore. I wish I could. I have a c-pap which is a hassle. My first ones were so heavy for me I took to packing them in my regular checked which is a no no. I currently have a travel size that’s great and my new regular one. It’s much less of a hassle getting in the overhead bin. My underseat is a roller by London Fog. I love it. It fits under the seat but I try to get things out before we take off now there’s less room between seats. I’ve had to use a wheelchair these last years and it’s easy to request them when getting ticket. My suggestion is have some tip bills available for your “driver”. They make very little and I’ve always found them pleasant and helpful. Having a TSA Pre-check can make the airport experience easier.
I’m a 60s baby who was used to dressing up for flights. My last trip I wore a comfy sweater dress and boots home. Contacts: sometimes I wear them when I fly, sometimes not.
Yes Dress Up! I always wear my suit. I’m not fancy and I sit in economy. However I noticed that I am treated better in all circumstances from social, convenience, technical, etc when I dress proper and speak calmly / properly. I am given upgrades sometimes and free alcohol / food sometimes. It’s a plus.
My husband picked out a bag of snacks. I tried to warn him to stick with something plain and simple, something he's already eaten a million times before. But he wanted to try some spicy something or other. He started having an allergic reaction to it just before boarding the plane.
I wouldn’t wear a super baggy top again, I think it caused me to have to endure a pat down, also I will not wear ANY jewelry ever again going through security.
I always fly business class, especially on long, over ocean trips. I prefer to wear smart casual leaning toward dressy. A sport coat is nice to wear and the air staff will always hang my jacket so it arrives in much better condition than if I packed it in my bags. Someone looking unkempt may make them feel comfortable but it is not the look I wish to project. And thanks for your tips videos, you do have suggestions I never thought of, so keep up your good work. The idea to put items you want readily available in a separate small bag or backpack, easy to remove from the carry-on is brilliant. Thanks again.
I love business class and I have a card for a free upgrade. The problem is I can get two tickets on a foreign carrier as compared to one on the carrier I can upgrade. I travel with 3.
Yes dress up...comfortable but sensible and modest. Just use common sense. A light weight jacket is a must. I was on a flight a couple of days ago to a location that was 106 degrees. I still needed a jacket on the plane.
0:41 STOP RIGHT THERE!! The overhead bins are not meant for suitcases! No wonder I can never fit my carry-on in the overhead bins. They are jammed full of selfish people’s suitcases. Cabin crew should insist these be checked in.
Yes dress up. My sports coat carries the stuff that would be in my pants and shirt pockets. It's also more comfortable when the AC kicks in on the plane.
I forgot to get my earphones out of my carry on so I figured to bite the bullet because they were only $3.50 and it wasn't a long flight. It was mostly to block out some noise anyway. They're GREAT! I don't know what brand or anything but best $3.50 I've ever spent and totally didn't expect to get anything but the "thank God" feeling when I didn't need them anymore.
I choose to wear smart casual because the airport lounges have dress rules. Also layers to allow for temperature fluctuations. Comfort is necessary too. ✈️ Love your no nonsense pointers.
Oh no, not the sugar free Haribo gummy bears! 😬 Great advice as always. I wonder if I’ll need an adapter to fit regular wired headphones into the plane’s headphone jack. Some airlines can be a little “vintage”
the biggest mistake I made recently... wrong seat I normally sit on the wing was on more leg room seat I felt sick almost immediately. 2nd one was I did not have my medication or anything with me. then I ate food that just got sick for 15 hours motion sickness. I like to be comfortable while traveling. to be honest I'm scared to fly again....sadly I use to like to fly......
I had to look it up. Boy this made my day, I can’t see through all the tears. However, I also feel kinda bad. I’m from Germany and I’ve never seen sugar free Haribos here. Why are we doing this to the world?
I have not seen size restrictions (within reason, of course) on liquid hand sanitizers. I always bring a package of hand wipes and Wet Ones also make single packaged hand wipes.
Yes dress up. But I buy super comfortable dress pants from Torrid which is designed to be non wrinkling but still soft and has a flexible waistline. Worth every penny. Paired with hells and a nice flowing top, you'll be surprised how comfortable you can be.
I take a Bluetooth transmitter receiver so I can use my I pods with the inflight entertainment. The transmitter plugs into the headphone jack and then my wireless earbuds receive from the transmitter. Worked great on recent international flight. Cost ~$15.
Megan lol ty for the laughs I did google the sugarless gummies and must say you are awesome for even sharing that lol 🙂, love your avatar at the opening too, hope you have a great day, greetings from ON, Canada 🙂
Is there no weight limit for cabin baggage flying internationally? If you fly airNz the cabin baggage allowance is 7kg, an one personal purse or laptop bag. Current most flights allow a 23kg checked bag on economy flights and some tickets a free meal.
On Air New Zealand the carry on and personal item together must be under the 7kg weight limit. Same with most other airlines within and between NZ and Australia
the “airfly” is awesome for using wireless headphones/airpods on flights! it’s a bluetooth device that plugs into the headphone jack on the in flight entertainment system that allows you to connect your own wireless accessories
Airfly pro or your preference of bluetooth transmitter… now your awesome Bluetooth headphones work great! Another great video. I’ve used may of your methods and hope this is something you may use!
You can get a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the 3.5mm audio jack in your seat and that will let you use your existing wireless headphones/earbuds/etc. To ensure that devices are charged: 1. Charge when you have the chance. If you have time before the flight or during layovers, find power and charge your stuff. 2. Bring a portable battery pack so you can charge if you can't find a free outlet in the airport and/or there are no functioning outlets in your seat.
Included with the suggestion to use charge up in the airport should be a caution against using the USB ports. Those can be pirated. Only use your own plug in connection between the electric receptacle and your devices.
You can use eye drops for contacts. Yes the humidity is down to ten percent however it doesn't hurt to use eye drops if you still want to keep contacts in your eyes .
No food, not even a snack during a 12-hour international flight is unacceptable. Any airline that does that should warn passengers before boarding they need to have their own snacks with them. Many people have blood sugar issues and/or have to take medications with food.
Dress in layers. On a flight from Vegas to London the air conditioning was broken. We were in the tail area for 1 hour 30 minutes strapped in waiting departure. The only water we had was what we carried on board. 110f outside parked in the sun. When we reached cruising altitude the plane was extremely cold. I always wear a tank, a button front blouse, and a zip up hoodie, scarf, and leggings. Gives me lots of options. In my carry on I have extra tshirt, underwear, leggings. Been on 2 flights where my clothes got dirty. NRT-LAX severe turbulence and the man next to me threw up on me and himself multiple times. IST-LAX someone on previous flight had peed my seat soaking wet. I sat down and didn't know it until my pants instantly got wet and I smelled urine. No other open seats on the aircraft. I also travel with a big trashbag so was able to put a barrier between my change of clothes and the seat. They just turn those long haul aircraft back around with very little cleaning! So gross. I wear disposable gloves to go to the toilet onboard too.
Dress comfortable but neat. I like to bring an extra long sock to put it cover my no shown sock when I was in flight because it can get cold on my feet for a long flight.
Or put a lock on it like I do cause I’m that paranoid especially if I fall asleep.
Thank you!
@@islandgurl4123 I use a lock on it also. Plus I put a piece of color tape with initials on both sides and small strip on handle side or on handle. Easy to see.
@@alissagonzales735 that’s a smart idea. Thank you 😊
Great tips.
Most planes I know have bathrooms.
Yes dress up! As an American I used to be casual, but the culture of my husband dressed business casual, and oftentimes are given compliments for their comfortable but dress attire. Since then, I’ve continued this way, and receive many compliments and sometimes an upgrade last minute!❣️
Moi aussi.
My ten tips
I. make sure before you go through border control , you sort your belongings in your carry- on bag into plastic bags for example cosmetics , metal items , electronic items into different plastic bags so if they need to be checked , they can access them quickly .
2. Lock your money , bankcards and valuables in your bag with a small combination lock because there are thieves who steal peoples valuables because often when the bag goes through the security scanner machine ahead of you because you can't see what is happening ahead of you .
3. Always leave for the airport and give yourself lots of time because delays on the road etc can cause you to miss your flight because you never know long the border control queue will be once you get to the airport
The only issue I see with your list is #4, you can’t go through security with liquids over 100ml.

Ok funny.. but NOT funny and I’ve kinda learned not to eat much before ANY flight !!!! Learned my lessons!!!
(But, for some reason, the Safeway gummies seem to either have more real sugar, or they have a fake sugar my body doesn't tolerate ~20-50% of the time.)
To be clear, I'm only talking about gummies and MY OWN body chemistry/gut fauna. Your own experiences may vary by what you eat proximate to gummies, your health, fitness, etc.
Chews! Umm, cheers.
1. Pack things you need (earplugs, meds, etc) in your personal item bag - not in the carry on that will be stored in the overhead bin.
2. Bring a snack/drink
3. Don’t assume anything (headphones, blankets, snack) is provided for free
4. Dress comfortably, bring contact solution, glasses, or moisturizer to mitigate dry air
5. Make sure all of your devices and batteries have a full charge and that you have the proper plug-in charger and cord
6. Download some media or reading content on to your tablet before your flight because you may not have any online access
7. Don’t try new foods before your flight…..let that sit right there…..
Did you watch the video

Thanks for the tips. Could you clarify the dimensions of the hand carry bag. How many items and how many kgs are allowed for hand carry?
You mentioned Personal item bag and carry on bag. Could you elaborate how many kgs would be allowed in
1) international sector
2) domestic sector ( internal travel for U S ).
Take care
Compression socks / leggings
These will come in handy for long flights there will be a good chance you may get some feet and leg swelling.
Yes dress up but comfortable. For long international flights, it’s a long knit dress, cardigan and a scarf and comfortable slip on shoes.
That must be the reason that there is a very nice menswear shop selling suits just outside the customs area at Schiphol.
Thank you for taking the time to share this! It's a pleasure to have you on the channel, Karin.
Great tips!!! All true and necessary
No for our upcoming 8 hour flight. Xylitol sometimes acts like a laxative and is often used for sugar substitute.
I fly business international or first domestic...no one dresses up except people flying for business
Battery drain is why I always bring a paper book to read on the flight. But i am 65 so I am used to it.
I’m 72 and I get it😊
and one more thing I would add is that, no matter how much you prepare, things might still go completely different to what you planned.
I still bring a book.
I noticed that those electric box takes up a lot of room. I try and remember to check for that. The window seat never seems to have them.
Ask in advance for a kosher meal even if you are not Jewish
Carry medication for your allergies..... especially in the event of a severe reaction. Try rescue remedy or similar
Also be aware of USB ports at the airports. They can be great vectors for spreading spyware on smartphones and tablets.
behind those charging stations can be skimmers...two way connectors... one to charge and the other to download....all your personal data.... enable app lock for banking and personal folders on your mobile...
I just flew China airlines to Taipei and then Bangkok got food twice in a 12 hour flight on the return flight I got food also very roomy planes if you get cold they have blankets and little pillows
just curious, how long did it take from landing in Bangkok to passing thru immigration and retrieving your luggage?

The TSA agent directing the lines told me as I was dumping it 'Hey, you can keep....your ice"
I follow a special diet, so I always have Lara bars, teas, granulated honey packets and other snacks in the event that the airline has food I can't eat (like it has tomatoes or peppers in it - I'm allergic) Never have been stopped for having such snacks.
Sounds like a scam of the airport. Food and snacks purchased past security are cleared already and should be allowed on the flight.
Same thing happens in Malaysia too.
The Amazon reviews on the Haribo sugar-free gummies are pure gold - you'll be entertained for hours! Great list, BTW, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Sorbitol is a game changer if you are aware the known side-effects xx
1:56 the green one is so good I always travel with it
I just discovered your videos and love them!
Great tip!
Fair play to you, alcohol is for before and after, to celebrate. Best one or two glasses Champaigne.
Just FYI, many Hawaiian Airline flights do not take any sort of wired headphones. There is no longer any sort of plug in. They will only accept Bluetooth headsets or earbuds.
Great video, subscribed. Also, bring two bottles of water in your carryon. Even in first class they're stingy with water.
Empty bottles, fill them after you go through security
Thanks for watching!
'Pack items you want in a small backpack that you can keep with you during your flight.' The backpack the passenger was boarding with at 1:03 is not hardly small. It is big enough to carry Carlos Ghosn. It is bigger than the passenger is. If that is small, she would need a pack mule to carry a 'large' backpack. ;-D)
So that's how Ghosn got out of Japan!
Yeah I have a small backpack that I can fit my iPad plus everything else I need, I don’t use a roller carry on unless I am just going away for a few days.
😊
Please don't wear fragrances or use scented lotions on the planes. Some of us are allergic. On the ground, we can step away and remove ourselves from the situation. I can't do that on a packed plane.
Why should I smell because of you...get your own plane
A go-to snack I love
is a good ol’ PayDay candy bar but I just realized this would be a terrible idea to bring on a plane in case of allergies!
We really appreciate the clear and concise explanations in this video. 🤩
I love your fun, to the point, truthful examples! So wonderfully presented!
Thank you for every bit of info your share:)
Ok the international airlines which had a 12 hour journey with no food and snacks needs to be named and shamed.
@@submarinerswife1114 Hey, I’m flying from Singapore to Berlin on Scoot. I plan on sneaking some fast food on the plane.
@@crisyorke1328 - You don’t need to sneak the food - you are fully allowed to take what you want.
Yeah, the last flight I took I made about a pound of granola to snack on. The TSA guys thought I was kinda wierd, but I like my granola better 🤷♀️.
No dress up; sweat pants, always and sliders with socks make it easier through TSA. Always, always, bring a change of clothes, underwear, and a manual toothbrush in your backpack. In the event your luggage gets stolen, or misplaced for 24 hrs. I try to travel prepared
Excellent.
Great video .!!! You very informative
Thanks! Glad you think so!
WOW! Thanks for the heads up about the haribos.
Love your site and all of your advice, keep us flying safe, comfortable, and informed 😎
hey!! I love your channel! I'm going to Dublin from Rio and was wondering what about jewelry? it can go in the cabin bag??
They make little blue-tooth plug in devices now that you can put in the headphone jack in the in flight entertainment system and connect wireless earbuds to them that way!
Make a packing list days before you fly. Keep the packing list when you leave the Hotel.
There are tiny USB-A to USB-C adapters. I'd recommend what's called a USB condom adapter. The USB condom adapter has the data pins removed.
Of you don't mind my asking, which travel CPAP do you have? I have been considering getting one.
Cant take him anywhere
Alas, that's not always the case. I flew with a jacket in First on my last four air trips, and only in one case were they prepared to hang it. 😞
It’s a five million dollar miracle of modern science, I’m not wearing sweats.
Eat light before a flight period. I always fly early flights so I take snacks for when I do get hungry.
Just got bk from London, and i can say im a vet now! Personal bag is the key!
Good to hear! Hope it was a great trip!
I like Air-Asia where you can order your food on there website online before the flight.
You will get if first and your choice is for sure available.
Dress up depends on flight length for me. Florida, yes. South Pacific, no.
Oh no, not the sugar free Haribo gummy bears! 😬 Great advice as always. I wonder if I’ll need an adapter to fit regular wired headphones into the plane’s headphone jack. Some airlines can be a little “vintage”
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, Patricia.
the biggest mistake I made recently...
wrong seat I normally sit on the wing was on more leg room seat I felt sick almost immediately.
Hi! How about hand sanitizers? Is it still limited to 100ml or less? Thanks!
Thanks so much!!
Tell us about the gummi bears??? I just see had shake so why they sell at the new stand after airport security
Very informative , lucky that I’m extremely well travelled and I rarely forget anything you’ve outlined . Great information.
Another great and informative video Megan! Thx!
Included with the suggestion to use charge up in the airport should be a caution against using the USB ports. Those can be pirated. Only use your own plug in connection between the electric receptacle and your devices.
great stuff as usual lispy. keep up good work with the 100+ flights.
You can use eye drops for contacts. Yes the humidity is down to ten percent however it doesn't hurt to use eye drops if you still want to keep contacts in your eyes .
Definitely an option!
No food, not even a snack during a 12-hour international flight is unacceptable. Any airline that does that should warn passengers before boarding they need to have their own snacks with them. Many people have blood sugar issues and/or have to take medications with food.
What kind of headphones do you recommend to bring for the in-flight entertainment that don't take up a lot of room?
Love your content, I could nearly binge watch you…
Wow! That is a great compliment! Enjoy watching.
