As someone who used to clean aircraft interiors....I always made sure I did the best job possible in the time allocated.....If many passengers were not as disgusting as they are...then cleanliness would be less of a problem.
Yes. I am shocked as I walk towards the exit how much trash is left on the seats in spite of ample opportunities to dispose of garbage before the plane lands!

If companies don't impose these things....your profesionalism is very well welcome, however, your professionalism alone can't garantee that all passengers and all workers are beinf properly treated.
Re: overhead bin - a great tip I've heard is that you should put your bag in the bin across from your seat. So you can actually see your bag when people open the bin.
Absolutely. I had another passenger spend ages fiddling with luggage that was next to ours, above our heads. He was not only trapping us in our seats, he could have been doing any number of things to our cases (without us been able to see). Ever since then I've always put our cases a row or two in front and across the aisle, so we get the best possible view.
Yes, drinks. I usually have 1 soda (ginger ale) and I fill up my water bottle in the airport prior to boarding. I try and wipe down my tray table, armrest, and seatback prior to sitting down. I also use the cocktail napkin opened up like a placemat so that nothing actually touches the tray table. Flight attendants will give you a few extra if you ask nicely. As for luggage storage, most of the time I pre-board and store in the overhead bin above my seat. I do like the idea of putting your luggage in the bin across from you.
@@BoltRM most carriers allow you to board out of position if you have small children, or need some extra time to get down the jetway. When they call for pre-boards, you just line up. I need extra time to walk down the jetway, as I have a balance issue. I pre-board on most flights, except Southwest. They actually do pre-boards after the A group.
@leeannkleine6120 thank you for elaborate explanation. Never thought of it, but I always wondered how these people got here before me. Thank you once again 😀
Yes, drinks. I will usually have a coffee. I also take a Gas-X as I tend to get that "inflated" feeling when flying without even having a carbonated beverage.
Thanks for being open about breaking some of your rules. Although I hear and agree with your tips, sometimes it is hard to not drink that carbonated soda even at the cost of an upset stomach. I do appreciate your thoughtful suggestions, especially about putting luggage in front of your seat and not behind. Thanks for sharing your valuable travel knowledge. Oh, I'm also grateful that you hate germs :))
Yes drinks, but not alcohol, coffee, or tea. I love Iceland Air, because they serve the best bottled water. I do drink caffeine soda, if the brand is European or one I can stomach. I do take off my shoes, but use cheap fabric slippers that I can toss into a bin when I reach my destination. I store a second pair in my checked bag. I do not have smelly socks either. My husband does, but he is usually at the window, since I prefer the aisle. I hate it when people extend their leg onto my armrest in the aisle seat, with only their socks on. I have shoved them off, after politely asking them a couple of times to not do this. I also avoid pushing my seat back into recline while the party behind me is still awake. I just treat others the way I would like to be treated. I hate people who take your advice about a bin in front of you and stuff their luggage in the first available bin and walk about 10 to the back of the plane. That makes people like me have to sometimes wait until everyone is off on a short connection to get my overhead bag.
Yes drinks, particularly just one (or even two on a longer flight). I agree with the science you mention, but everyone is different, and I seem to do okay with just a moderate amount of alcohol. When I fly international carriers, I make it a point to sample whatever their highlighted national drink is too - it adds to the fun of the experience. Cheers.
To start with anyone traveling today and going thru major airports on a regular basis should/must have: Global entry, and Clear. I always carry a Bento Bag V 3.0 (underseat carry-on), Away Carry-On (overhead), and a 24oz. Grayl water bottle, a Trtl Pillow, alcohol wipes (wipe everything), a Bluetooth transmitter for your headset/pods, a power bank and a travel blanket. I pack a light down just in case I have to sit on my travel blanket. I always wear active wear and Nikes or similar. I never drink or eat anything from the plane especially their water and ice. I bring my own food/sandwich/coffee.
Yes drinks but I would bring extra water. Also if you are heart attack or stroke prone (I’ve had both in 1 day) I was told that walking after sitting 45 minutes in an airplane is best to avoid DVT.
I always close the air vent lol It's too annoying, but that theory sounds like it makes sense because it keeps flow of air in front of you instead of keeping it stationary. I'll keep low/medium next time.
When I clicked on you I was hoping to hear your opinion on coffee and tea. I have long heard of the nasty water in many AC. In my mind it is ok cause the heating kills the nasties, I have no idea if that is true. I just can't do a 17 hour flight without a few beers.
Your expressions on the thumbnails of your videos are just amazing. It always gets me, and makes me laugh. A lot. You could string the photos together and make a calendar. T shirt? A little merch on the side? Anyway, always well presented and humorous, thank you.
Hi Megan, Greetings from a fellow Canadian and what looks like a fellow Cockapoo owner 😊 Been watching lots of your videos lately as we are travelling for the first time in a few years to Europe for a 3 week trip in the coming weeks. Some great advice, thank you !
Megan, you're wonderful. On morning flights I don't have any alcohol. The only water from the plane I use is when I wash my hands. Sometimes I see your dog in the background. It reminds me of a question about having pets traveling with the passenger. What are the regulations from the airlines and countries? Would make a fascinating video. You really do have a pleasant voice. Calming. Again, thank you for the videos. They are sure informative gems here.
3:25 I wore my contacts for over 15 hours on a flight, not good. My Hands were not clean to touch my Eyes or Change into a Spare. if I took them out, I wouldn't have a place to store them to go back in plus, they were one time use, so yeah, I was in trouble.
A couple of days before I fly, I make sure I’m particularly well hydrated. I have a glass of wine and something that helps me to sleep since I mostly fly out in the evening. Then I drink the expensive bottle of airport water. Coming home is usually all day time, and I might have 2 boozy beverages. I also drink more water. I fly from California, so all my flights out of the country are longer.
I had to store my carry on in the over head a couple of seats behind me on my last trip to Egypt. I paid for the front row so I could get off first to get through screening. When we landed I just asked the guy that was under my bag to pass it down for me.
The last few times I’ve flown a filled plane all the passengers were so helpful. Many were calling out asking who’s bag was who’s and getting them to owners while waiting to deboard so there was no hiccups. Also letting anyone who had an immediate transfer flight leaving soon deboard first so they could get there asap. Everyone was so helpful my last few flights it was a joy traveling, even though I was coach and the plane was booked solid.
Love to travel and just found your videos. Thanks for the tips. We always bring disinfectant towelettes with us and immediately wipe down everything around us. We each buy a bottle of water in the airport to take on the flight.
I always take 2 x collapsible water bottles I fill after going through Security Check Point. If I going into an Airline Lounge I will get some bottled water there or refill those containers from inside. Dehydration soon creeps up on you & the option to sip on water as needed helps alot. I fly business class now as I was tired of the herds of passengers trying to push past to use a restroom.
Have a small bag with stuff you will need frequently that you don’t need to open your bag and disturb others. Like with gum, eye drops , lip balm , moisturizer, charger , ear buds , wipes .
Hi Megan. Thank you so much for sharing a lot of tips about how to use AirBnb and alternatives. Could you make a ***updated*** video about (solo) travel safety tips? Nowadays it's never a bad idea to watch our backs because there were massing shooting in much safer countries like Norway and Denmark....Sorry to hear that shooting happens monthly in Ottawa as well...
For the first tip, this is why I generally just pay extra to board first (partially since I do carry camera equipment onto the plane in a carry-on, I really like to have it near me -- doesn't have to be above me necessarily, but I like to keep it within the same row or up/behind one row at most, but not in another part of the aircraft alltogether. But one way around not having to seaprate yourself from your bag is to board first or early (and sometimes paying the premium is worth it especailly if you have valuable stuff in the bag). In my experience, if you board early enough and claim a spot, they likely wont require you to move your bag from where it is, so it's important to board early on in the process. Generally within the first or second boarding group for coach for example, or if you fly SW, you want to be in A-Group. REgarding, water I guess I'm glad I never really get warm drinks (like coffee) on planes. I only stick to soda or cold water, which in all the cases I can recall, they came from sealed containers (and as an added note, if they give you a can of soda or bottle of juice, use a cup. Don't ever drink directly from the can or bottle; and if you MUST, then clean it off first, but pretty much every airline I've flown on, they give you an empty cup to use and I've even been told by flight attendants not to drink from the can, which makes sense). The thing about alcohol does make sense, but the soda and carbondated drinks may or may not impact everyone as well. A good small fitness thing you can carry on with you would be a resistance band that you can use at your seat if you can't get up. You can do all sorts of small exercises while sitting that can help, and you probably won't bother anyone next to you. 2.5 hours before landing might be a bit excessive IMO. I would say maybe 1 to 1.5 hours before hand may make sense. Even after long 8-12 hour flights, I've noticed that from the time most pilots turn on the seat belt sigh to landing ranges from about 30-60 minutes. So if you set it to 90 minutes before landing this can work, but I think 2.5 hours may be too far ahead. And this is important especially if you are traveling overseas as you may not have the option to use the restroom before going through customs and sometimes that can take an hour itself after leaving the aircraft.
Do you think compression socks are a good idea for long haul flights? I’ve just had a 2nd stroke and need to fly from Manchester to Atlanta Georgia and I’ve been twice but never tried compression socks xx
I will probably have hot tea and hope the heating process might kill germs. I like wine but leaving it alone when we fly to Amsterdam next week! Bringing my own refillable water bottle and after security filling it with an airport water cooler!
Try ordering a less popular drink like a ginger ale or cranberry juice. Flight attendants will be more willing to give you the whole can if they think no one else will be taking the leftovers after they serve you.
Yes Drinks. I fly Business Class and take advantage of the perks that come with that. I rarely turn down a cocktail and especially like the preflight drink. My last flight was international on American and I was very happy with the food and drink. The seats were not very good though, 737 Max.
Be careful of drinking champagne on a plane. I made this mistake on an Air France flight. I was so happy about returning to Paris after a long absence that I just had to celebrate. A few hours later I was so uncomfortable that I had to go stand in the galley. Luckily the crew was not busy at that time and were very sympathetic. It was a long night with no sleep.
I would also add….try to drink all your beverages early on rather than late. Using the bathroom early on is better on long flights as they tend to get nasty the longer the flight continues. Who in their right mind would go in the bathroom 🚽 barefoot or in socks!! Thanks for your professional advice as always.
Kids, young adults. Uninformed & careless people? Given the time and circumstance of the happening. Broken shoes? But Changing diapers on the tray seat?!! That’s a big NO NO! And it never crossed my mind until now. There’s always a “what-if” But still not a good thing to do. Responsible parents better wash that tray with soap and water or Clorox wipes before leaving. There should be a sign that reads pls clean tray before disembarkation.
As an adult male, I need to _go_ every 2.5 hrs or so, so I go about 40 min before landing. If flight is late (half the time), then you may not have time to go before making your next flight.
Holy shit, I’m an aircraft cleaner and the thought of someone eating from the tray table without sanitising it first horrifies me. I personally give every table in the rows of seats assigned to me a clean if they have dried coffee or other drinks, crumbs, butter or anything else visible on them. But unlike my colleagues even the ones that look clean to the naked eye two quick swipes with my cloth, half the table per swipe as well as one complete swipe of the niche it fits into when upright and secure. This ensures the entire surface has been sanitised and at least the passengers in the 6-8 rows I’ve done will have a properly clean table. I also brush crumbs off the seat cushions before crossing the seatbelts. I don’t know if it’s just me being picky, but my philosophy is to clean the rows to the basic standard that I would expect if I were a passenger. I’m also careful about the standard I clean the galleys too since it’s a food prep area. As for the lavatories… they are always some level of disgusting. Getting that fully clean during turnaround just isn’t going to happen. Best I can do is make it tolerable for future users.
My pet peeve is when someone brings hot food or smelly food on a plane. It's disgusting to have to smell greasy, fishy food bc some inconsiderate jerk won't eat it will waiting on their flight like normal people do. I bring a bento box of healthier dried snacks and a piece of fruit. Yes, I'm drinking unless its too early in the morning or a business trip. I do buy a big bottle of water to bring on board to sip on during the flight, especially a long haul.
Yes to drinks-alcohol and coffee. I have been on hundreds of flights. Never caused me a problem to drink alcohol or coffee. In fact, it makes my trans-Atlantic flights much more pleasant.
The one thing I stopped doing was having the big meal offered at the start of an overnight flight. Generally, it never digests well. I prefer to wait to eat until beeakfast.
Thanks for the tips. I always bring disposable shoe covers on my trips and where them over my old socks. Then I throw these all away as soon as I get off the plane. Always works.
Question so if we have our own water bottle but we have to pour the water out before we board is it okay to bring ice on while boarding if not what do we drink while on the airplane if we can’t drink the water or drinks they have
I do not drink that much alcohol, but on long haul business class flights, I do believe it is OK and adds to a pleasurable experience. I also will typically takeoff my shoes, and sometimes my socks, and take advantage of the airplane socks and/or sandals. Again only in business class, but definitely a nice perk. Your videos are great. Thank you.
If you're a woman/young adult, it's usually 'okayish', but as a man, I would never take out my shoes. Usually, my feet are 'okayish', but I'd never wanna give a bad example and encourage people with more 🧀 feet to do the same. Private jet? Do whatever pilot won't forbid you, but public airlines?
I have been a frequent flyer up until 2018 when my job changed. I always did take my coffe, a gin and tonic, beer with my meal. Never been sick on a flight, bot salomella in Bangkok, bad stomack in Istanbul.
Using hand sanitizer before removing contact lenses could very well sting the eyes. I haven't done this but it just seems that one could irritate the eyes. What is your opinion on this ? And I enjoy you videos !
I appreciate your concern as a contact lens wearer. Simply give yourself more time for your hands to completely dry. It’s not like you’re in a hurry to go anywhere.
I carry a small travel size sensitive baby wipes. So i can sanitize my hands then I use the perfume free baby wipes to clean off any residue prior to removing my contacts. I only do this when traveling and unable to wash my hands.
Off topic but important for any host. There are signs, not there is signs. Grammar is still important, especially with so many people watching and listening
I just flew from Alaska to England. On my 9 hr flight from Seattle to London, I saw 3 people with their shoes off: 2 socks and 1 bare feet use the toilet🤮. I used disinfectant wipes on the tray table and armrest. And hand sanitizer before I ate. I didn’t see anyone doing this practice. It’s like everyone forgot their Covid practices.
I drink FRUIT JUICE - tomato usually, and ask for a slice of lemon (if they have it) TIP - Did you know you can ask for 2 drinks? You don't have to accept only one drink...
Wait I'm confused does that mean it's not good to drink tea on planes? The hot water is full of germs? I Hope not cause I love having a tea it's a comfort. Thanks for your great videos as always!😊
I definitely echo others in saying I also drink alcohol and coffee on flights. If I'm in a class that gives out booze for free, I'm not turning it down! Lol. On long haul flights I do take off my shoes, but usually to put on compression socks and slippers. And only at my seat (I'm usually in business class on long haul flights). I never go barefoot, and never walk around in just socks. If I have to go to the restroom the shoes go back on! And i don't even like putting my tablet on the tray table before a Clorox wipe has gone over it. I was like this pre-pandemic. I would wipe down the tray table, arm rests, entertainment screens, buttons, air vent, etc. Anything someone else might have touched. You can't get it all and it's not like i go around in a hazmat suit, but I've never gotten ill after a flight. The only thing I do that most people probably don't is close the air vents. I get SO COLD on flights and yes, I dress in layers, even when going to a tropical location and I'm always freezing on flights. Even if I point it away from me I just can't handle the cold air blasting near me. I have a short flight coming up and I'll have to test to see if I can handle not completely closing the vents.
I won't be "enjoying them". But on a long flight is quite long without caffeine (i get horrible headaches). I don't drink alcohol and carbonation normally, but it's a long flight. So I don't think I can follow this one.
While boarding a plane, it is pretty much impossible to stow your carry-on in a bin further to the front of your seat. First, your'e not going o know if the bin at your seat is full until you get there and backing up while boarding is impossible. Secondly, depending on how close your seat is to another class division, you may not be allowed to stow your carry-on forward of your seat. Third, the boarding process these days is more related to the type of ticket you have purchased than the location of your seat. Bins forward of your seat may already be full when you are boarding.
I bring my own water on to the plane sometimes 2 liters. I also bring my own tea. The jury is out on caffeine dehydrating you. Recent studies suggest it doesn't. All good tips
I have a 16 hour flight from Seattle to Singapore, plus flights from Kansas City to Seattle, Singapore to Bangkok and Bangkok to Chiangmai, all within a 2.5 day timeframe. Of course there will be copious amounts of alcohol involved. If I stick with Singapore Slings, I should be fine because most vlogers say they are watered down. I’ll have my sleep sedative with me because I rarely can sleep on planes and expect a full flight. I’ll start taking my blood thinner medication again about 5 days before flying, in both directions.
I'm a frequent flyer and I fly 1st class everywhere into and I drink cold beers throughout the flight. Why not? I pay an arm and a leg for that ticket.
Years ago, I witnessed a passenger trying to find an overhead space for his attache. He pulled several other pieces down, put his up, put back as many as he could, that fit. He then said, holding up this last bag, "Who's is this?" Someone replied, "It's Mine." Our passenger responded, "Here, take it, yours doesn't fit!" You can imagine the ruckus that followed.
Tempting to actually pack an empty thermos in my carry-on, and fill it with coffee before the flight. Is this a thing you can do? I'm going to be flying at 6am, longhaul, and will need the caffeine 😂
@@PortableProfessional Truthfully my flight isn't until September. But since this is my first solo trip, I'm preparing as soon as I can to make sure I get everything right.

Definitely wear them. Have several pairs. Toeless ones are my favorite. The ugliest, but easiest, are the kind that zip.
I always wear compression socks on long drives or any flight. I’m a diabetic. Love them!
@@sandravinup5102 Thank You 💓💛💓 xx
@@CareyIUP Thanks. I am noticing a difference when I wear them if I’m in bed all day compared to not wearing them 💓💛💓 xx
@@sandravinup5102 I ordered myself some toeless ones last night 😂😂😂 I’m gonna be the hottest chick on the plane 😉 lol xx
I never miss your videos ive learnt a lot so thank you for sharing
Cheers from Edmonton Ab Canada 🇨🇦
I will probably have hot tea and hope the heating process might kill germs. I like wine but leaving it alone when we fly to Amsterdam next week! Bringing my own refillable water bottle and after security filling it with an airport water cooler!
Yes on the sodas... the serving size is fairly small with a lot of ice since you no longer get the can. On SW Airlines anyway
Great to hear! Agreed about the seats, it those pre-flight drinks are nice 😊
Wow! I had not been done like that before. Thanks
Very nice tips. Coming from Texas I find your accent very endearing. Best of luck and keep up the great work.
Some planes like the L1011 used to not have air vents. Hated it.
im travelling long tomorrow first time in a long time. this video was very helpful🙏
Yes drinks for shorter than 5 hr flights, and no if the flight is longer or includes a long stopover.
I definitely agree with the drinks. I just rotate through all the juices that they have on offer.
I would also add….try to drink all your beverages early on rather than late. Using the bathroom early on is better on long flights as they tend to get nasty the longer the flight continues. Who in their right mind would go in the bathroom 🚽 barefoot or in socks!! Thanks for your professional advice as always.
Saw a girl do this in my flight from Germany to Singapore 😂 I was legit confused
Yes, absolutely drinks and coffee.
I always sanitize the tray including armrests, never, never walk barefoot.
Thank you.
Yes drinks, but in moderation. Supplement with water. Disinfect everything! Also always wear compression socks. I fly multiple times weekly.
Eating off the tray table is nuts. I see so many people do that.
These things are so dirty
I only fly Domestic i am in america and during the padamick the airline I fly on didn"t offer drinks but yes to drinks
We take Larq water bottles on trips, it has a built in UV sanitizer in the lid. Hoping it helps with the little bugs
Agree
The one thing I stopped doing was having the big meal offered at the start of an overnight flight. Generally, it never digests well. I prefer to wait to eat until beeakfast.
Yes drinks. Great tips, good videos!!
Glad you like them!
OMG I love your accent. I could listen to you all day
Thanks for the tips. I always bring disposable shoe covers on my trips and where them over my old socks. Then I throw these all away as soon as I get off the plane. Always works.
Disposable shoe covers !
Great idea
Yes drinks. Wine with a meal, coffee with breakfast. Never got sick.
Yes Drinks Always have a few beers. Never had a problem from the longest to shortest flight duration. 👍
Wow so beautiful. Thanks for info.
Glad to hear you find the videos helpful. Thanks for visiting!
Question so if we have our own water bottle but we have to pour the water out before we board is it okay to bring ice on while boarding if not what do we drink while on the airplane if we can’t drink the water or drinks they have
Yes drinks. I usually have a Sprite because it helps with my air sickness.
More great info here Megan. Great job!!
Handy tips. Thank you
I have been a frequent flyer up until 2018 when my job changed. I always did take my coffe, a gin and tonic, beer with my meal. Never been sick on a flight, bot salomella in Bangkok, bad stomack in Istanbul.
Yes drinks! Thank you so very very much for your video 🙂.
Yes Drinks...And thanks for the info
Excellent tips. Thanks!👍💕
I'm flying out tomorrow I've checked in online. Airline said wifi may not be available on all flights. Gonna download some stuff on my phone
Or wash your hands...!?
I carry a small travel size sensitive baby wipes. So i can sanitize my hands then I use the perfume free baby wipes to clean off any residue prior to removing my contacts. I only do this when traveling and unable to wash my hands.
@@maremagnus Sometimes difficult on an airplane.
Thanks a lot
yes drinks, non alcohol, and aisle seat
I drink water that I fill at the airport. I also wear pressure socks, it helps with less fatigue for my legs.
Great tips! Thanks!
Right?! Covid or not, always best to be safe! Thanks for watching!
Simple but good tips
Thanks! Nice to have you on the channel!
Good info.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank You.
I drink FRUIT JUICE - tomato usually, and ask for a slice of lemon (if they have it)
TIP - Did you know you can ask for 2 drinks? You don't have to accept only one drink...
@@verreal I order 2 at a time, each time the cart comes around. And you're right, you can go into the back and ask for any of the drinks, any time.
Wait I'm confused does that mean it's not good to drink tea on planes? The hot water is full of germs? I Hope not cause I love having a tea it's a comfort. Thanks for your great videos as always!😊
Thumbs Up 👍
Anywhere I need to fly is going to be at least 3 hours and that's just going from one capital city in Australia to the closest one.
I had a thought while hearing about the vent as I feel the same as you do.... maybe wear a hoodie tblock some air. I'll try to remember that myself!
I won't be "enjoying them". But on a long flight is quite long without caffeine (i get horrible headaches). I don't drink alcohol and carbonation normally, but it's a long flight. So I don't think I can follow this one.
Ohh yes, on log haul flights Gin and Tonic for me, more than one, and ai have never gotten sick......so far
I am usually using penny loafer, still stylish footwear yet comfortable and not tight wearing. I fly long-haul regularly.
Great advice!
I bring my own water on to the plane sometimes 2 liters. I also bring my own tea. The jury is out on caffeine dehydrating you. Recent studies suggest it doesn't. All good tips
This just fed my germ anxiety 🤣 ack!!
I’ve always wondered…I know the bathrooms are small, but is the “mile high club” a real thing?
Some international flights I've been on had bigger bathrooms that domestic US. Still not a member tho 😹
Yes drinks !!! 👍🥳
Yes, drinks
Yes drinks I fly premuim and i always take advantage of free drinks.I fly on virgin atlantic over seas great seats,
No coffee or tea but certainly champagne 🍾. The baby nappy changing on the meal tray made me feel quite nauseated. Thx for the tips.
Yes drinks…many drinks possibly!
Yes, drinks. It’s good to be hydrated on a plane. 😊
Wow! Can't believe someone would actually do that! Hope he didn't get away with it!
Yes drink!
We are the same! 😉
Yes drinks LOL My flight last year, the flight crew gave me a couple free drinks.
Tempting to actually pack an empty thermos in my carry-on, and fill it with coffee before the flight. Is this a thing you can do? I'm going to be flying at 6am, longhaul, and will need the caffeine 😂
As long as you fill it up past security. Enjoy that coffee, Jenny!
@@PortableProfessional Truthfully my flight isn't until September. But since this is my first solo trip, I'm preparing as soon as I can to make sure I get everything right.
