Dude I hope you recognize just how much you're doing for us. It's actually insane that you would go so far to create this for us and making it free. Really love ya man.
I greatly appreciate you making these dctls available for us who aren’t able to pay for expensive dctls. I looked over your website and saw some that you are charging money for. I’m happy to buy them, but I don’t really know what they do. If you could make videos on those would be amazing. I would love to see what they do. I would be happy to help support your business. Your heart is in the right place and I appreciate that so much. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment! I've been very busy with other aspects of my life recently but I totally agree that there should be more demos/videos. I'm currently reviewing many of my tools and how I run this business since I've been hanging out in Cullen Kelly's space and have learnt a lot of new things. Hopefully that means that plenty of new stuff will be happening here soon :)
Sir, as a person who is trying to make it out of the bottom, I cannot thank you enough. I hope you receive everything your heart desires. Thank you, thank you, thank you a million times over!!!
This is a really complex split tone dctl. I love how it maintains midgrey and rolls it off in the highlights and shadows! Thank you for sharing it for free. I'm trying to learn coding dctl:s myself and I agree with you on how frustrating it can be when everything is behind a paywall. Love it!
Wow kudos for not only committing to learn all the parts to understand the creative aspects and technical build but also just finishing the tools to the end!!!
Thanks a lot. i'm a beginner and don't know if i need these, so being able to try DCTLs without needing to pay 100-200 Euros (as mononodes want) is great. Send 10 Euros your way :)
Thanks so much! Totally sympathise with your situation, colour grading is such a difficult field to get into and I'm hoping that this helps making it a tiny bit easier. :)
Trying both dctls now as i'm writing@@IridescentColor The splittone one mentioned in the video doesn't work for me though, sadly :) I know what you said in your video about being "available for support", so i'm not asking for anything . Just wanted to let you know. The SATURATOR is awesome - thanks.
@@housepandacrew581 Just tried to download the version from the ko-fi shop and install it and it does work fine for me - I'm not quite sure what could have gone wrong. Does it show up in your DCTL dropdown at all?
Some of you have had issues with the DCTL on Windows. This should now all be fixed so please just re-download the tool from the shop and delete the old one :)
You deserve so much more attention mate! , I will make a video about your excellent tools on our channel "sold out media" thanks for what you do! /Marcus
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you work. I'm stil a student so I can't afford the popular Mononodes' DCTL's so I went around looking for free alternatives and found you. You have already given a lot for the community and I'm sure the community will one day surely compensate for your hard work and dedication. Thanks again!
Honestly, it's a pain to learn and my knowledge is still very scattered and selective. All of Cullen Kelly's stuff (especially the grade schools) is sprinkled with great info. Wikipedia isn't half bad when it comes to basic colour space conversions; also try the videos by QuantitativeBytes to understand hsv conversion better. Sometimes random forum posts like the answer to this one: stackoverflow [dot] com/questions/39118528/rgb-to-hsl-conversion end up being a gold mine. There is a really cool paper on Tetrahedral Color Warping by a guy called Juanjo L. Salazar which you can find online. Just analysing the open source dctls from baldavenger aka Paul Dore on github has helped a lot with the coding side of things. I also got a test membership on Mixing Light to binge watch a lot of Cullen Kelly's content there. It's still a very gatekept voodoo science but I think it's changing, and forums posts can really be a revelation sometimes, as well as lots of trial and error. There is also this page which describes some very basic operations: designimage [dot] co [dot] uk/basic-colour-correction-maths-for-compositors/ Hope this helps at all.
The short answer is: probably! The long answer is: It depends a little bit. One thing to be aware is that the overlay was designed to look right with a transformation from log to a display space happening downstream, meaning that it will look flat and desaturated without any kind of color management. The tool itself should work fine unless you're, say, using HDR footage in linear gamma, as that would result in values above 1 which the tool isn't really optimised for. If you're just using Rec.709 footage in YRGB then there shouldn't be any issues. If you're using YRGB and color managing in nodes instead, it will work just as well! Hope that helps. :)

This is so strange! I think the file must have gotten corrupted when uploading it to ko-fi. I'll look into it later tonight and hopefully fix it!
All good@@IridescentColor You asked the other guy what was happening. Nothing happens at all :)

You're welcome!
Would appreciate if you know where 1:28 was shot, this place looks very familiar to me
Calton Hill, Edinburgh :)
@@IridescentColor Appreciate that mate
How did you learn color science? Can you recommend some places to start with it?

the first dctl of the saturator shaper works very well, but the split tone does not work in my pc
hmm ok could you let me know what's happening if you try to use it?
Hi! I've found the issue and have been able to fix it. Please try downloading it again :)
thanks bro is working now@@IridescentColor
Will it work properly in a non-color managed workflow, such as the standard Davinci YRGB?

Hello not work in my pc
I found the bug and fixed it. Please re-download the tool now and it should work fine! :)
