    I would like to share something with you guys. It was around the year of 97' . I was into underground, and freestyle. My friend and I left Michigan to go to see Eyedea at a Scribble Jam in Ohio. It was near Cincinnati, if I remember right. Lots of cool people I didn't expect to see like Brother Ali, Carnage, and Sage Francis. Finally my favorite freestylist hit the stage, and killed it. When Micheal was done with his set, he came down from the stage, and walked through the crowd embracing all his fans, friends, and peers. He walked right up to me, greeted me, and asked what I thought of his performance. I told him it was great. He thought he did mediocre at best, lol. We shared a laugh, and I told him how far we came to see him. It was that moment, that everything else disappeared to Micheal. The fact that we came so far with hardly anything really made a difference to him. He bought me a beer, and sat at the picnic table bullshittin with me for a half an hour. I honestly never thought anything like that was gonna happen. That made my whole year. I can't say I knew Micheal like a close friend, but I can honestly tell you, that he has a heart, and he cared about people. He was beyond just the music. He was walking inspiration. Rest in Peace. We miss you, man !!

      Great story bro...only thing is how could he buy you a beer when he was only about 16-17 in '97. Not trying to be that guy. I don't know maybe they didn't card him 'cause he was Eyedea.

      Ariel. Because even tho weve never met Mikey. He was so open about the pain he was experiencing. That you could feel it if you really listened. You feel so close to him and like you know him so well because essentially he is the same person as you and I that's what all of his music is telling us that we are all interconnected and all is related all manifestations of one single mind even though you feel like it you're never alone that's what he's trying to tell us listen to all of his music all of it has the same common thread that someone somewhere is here for you and does care and does love you just the way that Mikey would have loved you had he gotten the chance to meet you

      So sorry. Jesus. My father died in my arms in a hospital. It was so bad. It got so surreal...After he was dead, a nurse had the audacity to take my dad's work boots, and put them in the center of the hospital hallway for my mom to take home. My mom cried for days straight holding his shoe...I will NEVER FORGET her and I sitting in these two chairs in the hallway; crying our eyes out, in complete disarray, only to turn to the left, and notice two boots in the center of an eerie, silent hallway. We couldn't even speak. to ask who, and why...It was so surreal. I felt like I was in a nightmare...

    "Isn't a person just a collection of their mistakes and their kind of undoing of their mistakes? I mean.. what else are you? You're always just a reaction to the bad parts of yourself I think and I think that that is kind of like a driving motivation behind any human being that wants to continue to grow and live life as they are looking at their flaws and trying to go beyond them. I think that a person essentially dies when they think that they have found themselves. Unless you want to admit that you yourself are NOT an individual and are just part of a whole movement of ideas and thought and culture and humanity and furthermore the universe.. unless you REALLY feel like that and you're walking through walls, you know, you are always trying to find yourself. And it's usually a person who believes that they've found the answer, found the end, that there actually is a psychological end. And then what's the point of doing anything after that?"

    My only wish is that I've heard about Eyedea sooner, only this year have I really got into his music.
    He's been a great inspiration on both my life and my music; his legacy shall live on through the people he inspired.

    I just watched this for the first time and wow man… just wow. I found Eyedea this last year, totally changed my entire perspective and kept me away from the ledge. I love you Mikey. This video out of any I’ve seen, has brought me the most peace and also pain. Sadistik is a fucking legend. ReyeP

    Just like he said at the end...what is a person when they have achieved their purpose? They're nothing, they've reached what they need to and have moved on. I like to think that there is an answer in that, to all of you who ask why Eyedea had to die so early. His death was a tragedy, and it marks the loss of one of the greatest musical artists out there, a friend, a family member, a role model, a consultant, and so on, and yet, I like to think that maybe he isn't with us anymore because he reached his purpose and fulfilled his existence. And he moved on, perhaps into lyrics, or another person, or a planet, or even another galaxy, or maybe simply as rain, and yet no matter what, Eyedea will always be with us.

    • @ferrinheight
      @ferrinheight 5 лет назад

      that is the point exactly. if we ever need anything at all he is here for us, more so in death than he could ever be in life.

    • @erichanson604
      @erichanson604 3 года назад +1

      @@ferrinheight I don't think that's the point at all but to each their own. To me, it sounds more like bettering yourself is the driving force for living life and doing anything and when you think you're perfect and have everything figured out (which is never actually the case) you lose that motivation.

    "On and on and on and on it goes, when I'm nodding off an awful lot to songs that you had wrote. I want to honour all the art and progress that you showed. I miss my confidant and honest talks alluded on the phone with you Mike."
    Wow!!! What an amazing 4 bars, to an amazing song, in tribute to an amazing person. I can't tell you how true those words are to me (minus the talks on the phone) and I'm sure are to many others. Thank you very very much for this song. I've listened to this over 100 times by now and it still gets to me every time. Eyedea will live on through his music, family, friends and his fans. RIP Mikey

    Sometimes, life reminds me that it's hardest before a big change. moving forward but never forgetting. I will always remember my little girl. I won't forget her, just can't hold on to it. Others will more than likely hear this song and think of their father, mother, brother, sister, friend.... Just know, celebrate their life, don't focus on their death, and smile. It's what they would want you to do.

    I have always loved this song. It means more to me now than it used to because I lost my best friend last year. He's the one who introduced me to your music. So when I listen to this now I think of him and it's a beautiful form of allowing myself to grieve. Your music is amazing and I'm so glad he shared it with me. 🖤
