      im excited for them to expand the scrs linup, hoping an acss happens as well.i dont see a reason to buy any other 20mm tube. Only other one that interests me is an aems, but probably only if i was competing with it. ETA: range toys will still get sig msr's, cant beat the price i just wouldn't have that be a weapon id depend on.

      I got the 510c with the 3x Magnifier for my Ruger 9mm PC CARBINE RIFLE, and it's an excellent pairing. During competitions, I remove the Magnifier and have quick target acquisition up to 50 yards! Thx for the chest sheet info! I also have the HOLOSUN SCS OPTIC for my EDC H&K VP9-SK 9mm handgun. Excellent co-witness!

      I came here to make the same exact comment. I am a first time rifle purchaser seeking information on red dot sights and was very confused about what to get from what is on RUclips. There just isn’t any other videos on RUclips like this at all and I’m so blown away by this one. Very thankful for coming across this video and definitely subscribed. This was exactly what I needed to help make my choice in a first time sights purchase. Answered so many questions I had that I could not get answered anywhere else! Keep up the good work please!

      One thing I noticed when looking through Holosun's site is that there is a bit of a help built into the naming. For example, the numbers are the model ("4"s generally are aluminum, "5"s generally are titanium or a nicer tier), and the letters are like the "trim level" on a car. The "C"s all share the same feature set, the "G"s all share a feature set, etc. So figure out the type you want (403, 503,etc) and then the features (C, B, G, etc). Finally, RD or GD at the end is the dot color.

    I have the 509T on my RUGER 57 pistol and the AEMS on my 9 mm RUGER LC Chassis Carbine.
    IMHO the top of the line AEMS is THE best "red dot" available for almost any PCC.
    -> To get good AEMS eye-to-reticle alignment on a cheek weld I added a MAGPUL MOE 1/4" high cheek piece on the carbine's MAGPUL MOE stock, VOILE"! It's inexpensive and just snaps on the stock very tightly and I have perfect sight alignment.

    Companies like Holosun are always going to walk away with a chunk of my money for one big personal reason. Astigmatism. Holosun's circle dot reticle optics are extremely clear no distortion or fuzziness no matter how high I crank up the brightness. I am not sure why a circle dot reticles makes it magically clear, but it does. Since companies like Aimpoint refuse to make anything that the US Civilian market asks for only prioritizing Government contracts, Aimpoint will never get a cent from me.

    "CO-WITNESS"
    The term co-witness refers to the interaction between iron sights and modern optics like a red dot. While both rifle and pistol optics can be co-witnessed, the term is most often used when referring to modern sporting rifles like the AR platform. Your optic has a co-witness when the iron sights align with the red dot.Sep 10, 2021

    • @dailygrind5575
      @dailygrind5575 3 месяца назад

      Everyone is aware, but, thank you for the unnecessary information that no one asked for. And “co witness” is when you can view the iron sights through the glass of your optic, not when it lines up with the red dot itself. 99% of the time a red dot be zeroed to sit a above the view of your iron sights when looking through the glass. They should not like up at all.

I’m currently thinking that I want to keep the iron sights too (actually plastic) but I have to see how the co-witness aspect works out with the Holosun. Maybe I’ll need a riser for the ⅓ co-witness. I won’t know until I place the sight on the rifle.

    • @ryanpeck3377
      @ryanpeck3377 9 месяцев назад

      Holosun makes a co-witness “low mount” in addition multiple other manufacturers make mounts for it. Including high end manufacturers like scalarworks and unity tactical, which make 1.93” and 2.26” height mounts (for reference absolute cowitness is generally 1.54” and lower 1/3rd is about 1.7” though it can vary slightly. All mounts are secured to the base with screws, similar to the aimpoint micro style mounts (used by most holosun including 503/403, 515) however thescrew spacing is different on the AEMS vs aimpoint style, which is why it needs specialized mounts.

  • @GldenRetriever

    There are like a dozen different 503s and I agree, was very hard to learn them all as the nomenclature wasn't consistent. you had the 503b, 503c, 503bu, 503cu, 503g, 503gu, etc, with the latest being the 503R. not to mention they entirely changed the 515 line up as they were just upgraded 503s and weren't titanium (like you mentioned). Within the 503 line, you had 3 different heights. the solars were the tallest as they all have the battery tray on the bottom, but some of the 503s, like the 503bu (iirc) had a standard T1 height. some top buttons, some had side, some had turret guards and some didn't, etc. none of them had screw in lens caps unlike the 515 line, but that doesn't mean that the lengths were the same in the 503. Also the GU didn't have the acss, which makes no sense as what does the G stand for lol? Kinda glad they slimmed down the line up, but i wish they would have kept the BU and GU. Also would like to try the 530, but I like my AEMSs too much. Don't see a reason to get the 510 and 512 in this day in age. The 510 does have a capacitor in them, which afaik is the only non scs to have that. The 510 is pretty neat on handguns. It would be nice to put the AEMS flip caps on the core as the solar panel is worthless and i can do without the circle dot.

    I have a dozen red dots, a couple of Vortex and only one Trijicon, all the rest are Holosuns. You definitely get value for your money with them. However, my biggest complaint is the amount of parallax you get with the 510c (I got a sample size of two). Manufacturers like to call red dots “parallax free” (which is optically impossible), when in reality they have less of it than regular optics. However, the 510c has parallax comparable to a scope! Great optic for short range but definitely not geared toward precision, even at mid range.

      Interesting. Thank you for sharing. First we’ve heard that

      @@freedomgorilla1 I put my rifle on a sturdy shooting rest that holds the gun firmly in place and moved my head a little: you can definitely see the reticle sway around the target. I also asked my buddies to give it a try and they too got the same results.
      Most of the time with the 510c you won’t experience problems from parallax but, when shooting with a less than ideal cheek weld (like under a barricade) you’ll likely get a POI shift.

    one more thing about the aems that didn't get mentioned is that it has dedicated night vision settings. Not sure which other ones do i just know the aems does and the 503 does not.

    Which one would be the best for eye astigmatism?

      None specifically. Some ppl say green helps with astigmatism

      As a person with an astigmatism… I can say that the Green dot Holosun optics I have are really crisp and clear to me. The Red Dot options are still good but the green is definitely better for my eyes. I have the 510 and a 407k in green and they are awesome optics for the price. I do also have some red ok dots too but much prefer the Green. The 2 MOA dots in red can start to get a little distorted for myself.

    Any chance you have an installed weight for each of these? (Red dot plus mount). Thanks for all the work you put in to this.

      I don’t. But the 20mm tubes are around 5 oz, aems is probably 7-8oz, 510c is i think 12ish oz. For reference a scope w rings is usually around 20-25oz
