Really nice review on the case and the way everything integrates together. Your enthusiasm is contagious! I just wanted to mention that any "shoe" that only holds something like a mic or light is a cold shoe. A hot shoe electronically communicates with what is in the shoe, like a flash on a DSLR. The camera tells the flash to fire through the shoe, and the flash then tells the camera it has fired. You can always tell if it's a hot shoe if you see a couple metal dots in the bottom of it. Those are the electrical contacts.
That is an absolute great case! If I can ever GET the Hero 7 mic adaptor I’ll certainly buy this case! Very nice video and I love your excitement...you’re a lot like ME! Stay safe!
DANG!!! I bought the older aluminum one like 2 weeks ago. I didn’t see this one. Just ordered it. Put that little mic and L in my wish list. I use the Rode also. Thanks hiker J.
You, sir, have just stepped up our GoPro game!! Thank you. I made sure to use your link when buying this case. Incidentally we're using the Rode Wireless Go ][ mics with the GoPro and this is perfect because I can put the receiver right on the hot shoe on the top. Thanks!
That is a super-nice set up you have; however, the major CON I have with that microphone you are using is that you have to be directly in front of it. If you are vlogging, like on a nature hike and filming everything around you, your voice is going to be in the back of the mic; I just simply wish it could flip or spin in the direction that I want the mic to be in.
Man this is a game changer housing, Im going to replace my aluminum housing for this one, rite now I have the adaptor velcroed to the front of the housing, so this would be so much better, thanks for posting this
Great case, just ordered one, amazing it has taken so long for someone to come out with a simple and affordable solution to the dreaded GoPro audio brick. Thanks for sharing.
Nice... I rigged up my gopro 7 like your other set up because I watched your video on it.. like you I'm out and about and needed a light weight point of view setup and the way you did it was great .. now I will probably get this one .. looks like it solves the 2 problems with the other set up .. the mic adapter and the dead cat getting in the frame .. Thanks for the video I'm getting one!
So now that you’ve had this go pro case with the mic adapter holder, how do you like it? I mean I know you had an aluminum one, and you thought that this plastic one was a game changer. How’s it holding up?
Love it. I purchase a similar but made of aluminum . One year ago I purchased the gopro mic adpater but I don't find it right now , it is lost somewhere at my apartment due to I seldom used them it was big hangout from the gopro camaer esapecially you vlog outdoor, including motorcycling. Then I bought this gopro case with new adapter alongside. I wish I could have had this mic case for gopro, which means I can save money with no buying the dam over priced mic adapter again!
Awesome set up, Only just purchased my 1st GoPro, I've noticed the GoPro battery goes pretty fast... and i was thinking of getting a power bank to charge the battery while I'm recording... but then i wouldn't be able to use the mic adapter... is there any mic adapter that also allows you to charge the GoPro at the same time?
Great content!, you make me get the best audio set for my GP 6..with this nice case is fantastic and more handy for vloging outside and indoors as well, thanks man!!
I just want to point out the 3.5 L adapter linked is a TRRS mic adapter and is not compatible with the gopro mic adapter. You would need a TRS adapter for this setup to work. Hopefully this will help some people with the headache and confusion, time and money.
Hi Hiker. We have the new IDOLCAM VlogStar V2 shotgun/Lavalier microphone in one, small size, perfect for GoPro, can we send you one to you to play with?
Good question for you... How are you using the 3 pole (TRS) Edutige mic into the gopro adapter (TRS compatible) using a TRRS to TRRS adapter? Doesn't the adapter have to be TRS to TRS (same as mic) in order to work? Thank you
Nice, video. I bought the Ulanzi case, just because of your video. A couple of questions. Do you have a link for the L adapter for the Edutige 001 Mic and a link for the dead cat for the same Mic? Thank you for the video.
Thats the one thing it is missing is a mount for a light. I do have a mount that goes between the grip and the gopro case. It allows me to put 2 gopros side by side, I was thinking that might work. Going to play around with it a bit.
Nice video I need exactly that but I need to go a little further to be perfect for my setup , can the camera be powered up and use the microphone at the same time with some kind of wiring adapter.
Yo Hiker! Great review! Such a cool down to earth guy! He really gets it! Oh Yeah! Lol! Its called a, "Cold Shoe" there's no current wired to the Shoe, exm. a camera flash!
Good ! Now this is awesome ! I use to duct tape the mic adaptor to my helmet ! This just killed the duct tape setup ! Aweszome video just subscribed amigo !
Hey peoples I got this set up for my gopro 7 and it doesnt seem to be working the settings option under preference doesnt show up for me to choose external. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your great review! This case already has been delivered, awsome! Do you know some suitable nd-filters for this case? I haven't found yet...would be nice if you could help! Thank you!
I appreciate your efforts on the video, but what most folks do not say on here is that nearly all external mics for the GoPro cause an unusable static in the recordings. I like you was very excited, but with time, we all hear the reality. Thanks for the post.
I have this. And initially it worked well. But as it 'wore in' so to speak, the audio quality became worse and worse, with the crackling and popping making the video unusable. I suspect it is the contact point between the 'dongle' and the camera, with the flex in the cable being the main culprit.
Really nice review on the case and the way everything integrates together. Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Love the energy and vibe as you review the cage. Thats some positive vibe right there
@JustinBieber haha. i doubt. man's got some good vibes
Love it! This is a game changer for vlogging with the gopro. Thanks man! Ordered one!
This supposed to be a GoPro job.
Awesome case
Found this the other day as well on AMAZON and I'm stoked. Will really help keep things light on my CDT trek. Cheers!
That is an absolute great case! If I can ever GET the Hero 7 mic adaptor I’ll certainly buy this case! Very nice video and I love your excitement...you’re a lot like ME! Stay safe!
Very cool! Looking to build a small setup for some things i'll be doing in the automotive world. This fits the build perfectly! Thanks!
DANG!!! I bought the older aluminum one like 2 weeks ago. I didn’t see this one. Just ordered it. Put that little mic and L in my wish list. I use the Rode also. Thanks hiker J.
I have one of these, Ulanzi really makes great stuff.
Man that case looks sick.. I’m rocking the whole GoPro with a mic setup and now I need that case 🤣
Matthew Mollet Vlogs ... me too mate..., all on that 😊👍
I know this video is old but will this work with the hero 7 white

I LOVE your enthusiasm!
Me too!

Best housing I’ve owned for my 7. Extremely versatile and a perfect fit
Man this is a game changer housing, Im going to replace my aluminum housing for this one, rite now I have the adaptor velcroed to the front of the housing, so this would be so much better, thanks for posting this
Thank you! I was just looking for a case to add an external mic.
Great case, just ordered one, amazing it has taken so long for someone to come out with a simple and affordable solution to the dreaded GoPro audio brick. Thanks for sharing.
Fab.. ordered it within 30 seconds of seeing your video - thanks.

It looks indeed as a solution imo to
Great review! I have the aluminum one as well and like it, but it's heavy for hiking. Just purchased this plastic one...thanks!!!
More videos like this!!! I like the way you show all the accessories. Thanks from NYC.
The energy on this video is just outstanding OMG jajajaj love it
So now that you’ve had this go pro case with the mic adapter holder, how do you like it? I mean I know you had an aluminum one, and you thought that this plastic one was a game changer. How’s it holding up?
Dude, that case is dope!

Oh men! This is awesome! I'm buying one right now!
I know right! I was so pumped to get this.

Hi im stopping by from philippines
I just want to point out the 3.5 L adapter linked is a TRRS mic adapter and is not compatible with the gopro mic adapter. You would need a TRS adapter for this setup to work. Hopefully this will help some people with the headache and confusion, time and money.
Great review dude...
This case is what we've all been waiting for.
Thanks very much
The case holds the mic adaptor. Now, if only I could get hold of the mic adaptor. Never in stock.
Thanks for the great review. I ordered mine today!
Awesome, just what I was looking for, thanks
Hi Hiker. We have the new IDOLCAM VlogStar V2 shotgun/Lavalier microphone in one, small size, perfect for GoPro, can we send you one to you to play with?

Nice, video. I bought the Ulanzi case, just because of your video. A couple of questions. Do you have a link for the L adapter for the Edutige 001 Mic and a link for the dead cat for the same Mic? Thank you for the video.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!
How about adding an additional cold shoe? Like you have on the metal case? Where the lighting goes now?
Thats the one thing it is missing is a mount for a light. I do have a mount that goes between the grip and the gopro case. It allows me to put 2 gopros side by side, I was thinking that might work. Going to play around with it a bit.
@@HikerJ Thank you for the reply! I ordered because you, I think I will glue a cold shoe on the right side of the case. What do you think?
I wanted to know the same thing. I use a slide bar on the top of mine for the light and my phone mount. There has to be a way to mount all three.
Nice video I need exactly that but I need to go a little further to be perfect for my setup , can the camera be powered up and use the microphone at the same time with some kind of wiring adapter.
I love your video style very positive and bright. Hope you have an amazing weekend thanks for the video im definitely going to pick one up.
This is what I've been looking for, thank you for sharing!
They have a pro version just coming out. Has a couple updates. They sent me one and I will post a video on it soon.
Awesome video. You answered about 100 questions. I'm ordering now!
great channel brother!
Very nice. I need this in my life.
Yo Hiker! Great review! Such a cool down to earth guy! He really gets it! Oh Yeah! Lol! Its called a, "Cold Shoe" there's no current wired to the Shoe, exm. a camera flash!
Is there a cage that can handle the mic adapter and ND filter kit? I have this cage but the filter kit doesn't fit.
Wish they would have made it with the round filter thread front. For using an ND filter.
this is awesome ........just ordered one ! ..........great video !
Just a heads up. You included the link to the wrong adapter in the description.
Well... I’m sold!
Good ! Now this is awesome ! I use to duct tape the mic adaptor to my helmet ! This just killed the duct tape setup ! Aweszome video just subscribed amigo !
The BEST! Great vid! Thank you Sir. And I love the ending..."I gotta go vlog."
Absolutely stellar review. 👌
Great video, love your energy
Can you make a video about the best setting for go pro 7 day/night?
Seem like a cool guy. Great video and thank you!
how easy is it to access all the elements on the touch screen? if anyone has tried this can you please let me know! thank you
you have been very helpful thanx
“Oooooh, that’s nice!”
Is it for just the black or would it work with the white and silver to ?
Thanks! I ordered through your link.
Buying one thank you
Is that compatible with the go pro 5 ? How about the door on the side ?
You can't use an external battery charger and mic at the same time?
Really nice review !
Great video looks like a great fit . I bought one of there cube lights very good light
Ya I have a light but might check out Ilanzi's light options too.
So could you use a usb-c headphone jack as an audio adapter?
Hey peoples I got this set up for my gopro 7 and it doesnt seem to be working the settings option under preference doesnt show up for me to choose external. Any suggestions?
Hi Hiker J nice video. Just wondering if I'll be able to use a filter adapter with that case?
I do not think so. I don't have a filter adapter but what I can tell you is that it's a tight fit around the lens with a little overlap in the front.
Hiker J thanks for that:)
Whats the best case/option to hook up a light on the gropro 7?
amazing....
Thank you for your great review! This case already has been delivered, awsome! Do you know some suitable nd-filters for this case? I haven't found yet...would be nice if you could help! Thank you!
Looks really awesome, took a while before there was a decent solution for the adapter
Still its pretty expensive imo
Thanks for showing
Hi do you has to charge the mic adapter? One is for the mic and the other? ?
Muy bien, muy bien la Review, felicitaciones
This is genius!
Now I need that case 😅
so, is this still your go-to case? how's the update lookin :D thank you for sharing this!
I want it! I'm gonna get it. The Gopro adapter is a little pricey but let's do it!
I appreciate your efforts on the video, but what most folks do not say on here is that nearly all external mics for the GoPro cause an unusable static in the recordings. I like you was very excited, but with time, we all hear the reality. Thanks for the post.
My gopro mic and adapter mount is launching next month. Would love to send you a sample to try. Let me know how to do so..
For sure, would love to check it out. Email me at jason@hikerj.com
@@HikerJ will do thx
Hi, Is it possible to setup ND filters for GoPro with this case on?
I did search for ring adapter for this case, but no luck.
Thanks for this review I am so getting this!
Hi. Can you use filters with that setup?
I mountain bike and like to record my band rehearsals. What mic would you recommend?
Can you use the mic adapter for the hero 7 white?
Well darn it, I already bought the car from your last video. LoL .. Oh well, have to buy another one. 😆😆
