    The at2020 is a phenomenal mic. It beats i think almost all the competition. I always see these comparisons starting with the at2020 at the bottom for a low priced mic. And then when they go up in price i always prefer the at2020. Yes it has a more layed back low end and a little hyped top end. But its very flat in these boosts, no strange peaks or anything. Use a highshelf starting from 5k upworads to reduce that, and a very wide Q Low Shelf that starts from 300hz downwards for a liitle boost if needed to conter the light low end. With these to eq options and a couple of db (1-4db or so) in either area, you can easily scuplt this mic for any vocal it comes across. Leave it as it for airy Female pop or just tune it a little more neutral for jazz perforamnce. It SLAYES even the u87 its so versatile. The only thing it doesnt do stock is giving that tube sound from a u67 or u47 but you can fake that by using a nice tube Preamp. KILLER KILLER MIC. Dont waste your money on anything else. Has a high self noise though. But so do all the classic neumann mics, and since we also dont record to tape and thus dont have much noise anyway. WHO CARES. Buy 8 of this bad boys and some sm57s and maybe a akg d112 for kick and record ANYTHING you want.

    • @Leonidas909
      @Leonidas909 2 года назад +2

      You've been bamboozled by the hype. The B is the 7b and is dull and hissy, it's a tech thing you can expect way less treble and more preamp noise from it from the lower sensitivity and obvious dynamic mid centric sound.
      The fact that people still have this heavy bias is frightening as the one sounding the best here is bellow 100 and the other with cloud lifter is nearly 600.

      It's the other way around oop

    • @Leonidas909
      @Leonidas909 2 года назад +6

      @@felixgiroux8219 There's absolutely no way the 7B with a given pre has more treble extension and less hiss than the AT2020, it's not up for debate it's just technological spec. You can have fun and grab an analyzer and see how B breaks down after 15k which is known to happen with the 7B (and it's in the specs sheet) and a lot of dyns, when it extends way more in mic A (don't need an analyzer to hear it).
      The hiss is also dependant on the impedance of the mic as seen from the pre and the 7B is way higher and needs way more gain so you'll naturally get way more as heard in B.
      I have both mics and various others routed in high end pre-amps and there's either something very wrong with the setup in this video or she mixed them up (probably the later).

    This is great, you have excellent control, really pleasing to listen to you sing. ❤ Anyway, Can you do a setup for beginners? I’m an award winning vocalist, but I’ve never considered performing at home until recently. I’d love to know what are the essentials for setup to go with your desktop and for streaming on RUclips, tiktok etc. I’ve always just been the voice, I’ve never really played around with mixers, or any other studio equipment, I’d love to get my own setup and make my home office a dual purpose studio ❤

    • @LaceChaser
      @LaceChaser Год назад

      Ok, so I actually recorded a few solo albums w/ one $80 condenser mic. Drums, guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. I used a small 2 port usb mixer as well and it all came out studio quality.
      The mic I used was a “MXL V67”. Green with gold mesh. Looks and sounds like a $1,000 mic, but it was on sale for $70. Now I use an “Audio Technica AT2020 P48 Cardioid Condenser. It was about $120. It’s a bit better for vocals and the other works best for instruments. I use both at once when recording drums or trying stereo surround type sounds.
      You don’t need to spend much on a mixer either. My first one is still my go to audio interface when doing solo stuff. It’s a “Presonus Auidiobox USB 96” that cost around $100 with software included. Otherwise I use a “Behringer Xenyx Q1202 USB” if I’m recording with other people and use Audacity for software because of how simple it is to use. That mixer was probably $150-200 and Audacity is free.
      You can get really amazing sounds with cheap gear. It’s all about how you set things up and the acoustics in the room.
      Hope that helped somewhat and good luck!

    • @LaceChaser
      @LaceChaser Год назад +1

      Oh, and for streaming I’d definitely choose the Audio Technica Condenser and the cheap Presonus USB audio interface and just use Audacity or the included software.
      Just get a pop filter too for like $20-30 and a nice cable. Someone at your local Samash, Guitar Center, or other music store should be able to help.
      P.S. if you will be streaming in a large room or somewhere with other people around/background noise, I would get a Dhnamic microphone instead of a condenser because condensers pick up all of the sounds instead of just what’s in front of the microphone.

    I'm a total noob when it comes to equipment, why does the SM7B clearly have more reverb on the mix? Is that a characteristic of the mic? Or did she accidently mixed it in a different way? Because it masks a lot of the imperfections and the flatness/sharpness of some notes, making it sound so much better than the AT2020, even though it clearly provides a clearer and more defined sound, it sounded much better than it should've had imo.

    Hi ma'am, I want to record my poetry in professional Quality. if I use the original Shure SM 58 mic With Universal Volt 1 Audio Interface. Can I get a good recording? Noise will not come in the recording ? Will I get crisp sound quality?

    Hi. My wife and I will be in the Philippines in a month or two and I would like to purchase the Shure SM7b microphone while we are there because it is much cheaper than in the USA. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got yours or recommend a good place to purchase it from? Thank you so much.

      How.. very clear they have distinct qualities.. mic A is dynamic Mic b is condensed which I prefer because we only hear 3 frequencies low mids & hi’s .. if you want more spacey vocals Mic A if you want more solid normalized vocals almost pre compressed “almost” mic B 😊

      There’s a difference, I have a sm7b and it’s just better than everything else. No plosives and I like the bassy sound. Cloud lifters are cheap so I don’t know what yall are tripping about.

    • @CraftyShawn
      @CraftyShawn 2 месяца назад

      @@terrychen2293that’s because the SM7B is a dynamic that’s the reason you don’t have issues with plosives and you do not need a soundproof room to record in contrast condenser are sensitive also if you get a high-end condenser like the U87 which cost $3500USD you going to need a soundproof room just to record and going to have issues with plosives if you do not use proper microphones technique

    You don't really need a cloud lifter for the Shure SM7B you just need a good interface. Like the goxlr

    • @AG-le4ok
      @AG-le4ok 2 года назад +1

      The goxlr is by no means a good interface (talking about audio quality) the Apollo Twin (the one she uses in this video) is by far a better audio interface. The reason you use a cloud lifter is to get a clean audio signal. You will be fine without it if you use it to stream, record a podcast, gaming or make a RUclips video, but for musicians it's very important to get the cleanest signal possible, that's why you'll find a cloudlifter in most studios with the sm7b.
      But you are right, for a streamer or your average content creator a cloudlifter is almost dumb to use because most of them don't need that quality anyways, and if they have a goxlr they definitely can use it without a cloudlifter

      Focusrite is enough.

    • @thenewgamers7382
      @thenewgamers7382 2 года назад +3

      Actually the goxlr provides everything you need. Anything you'll need just by the software alone, and the interface with the voice changer is fantastic, the adjustments of a noise gate, editing your highs, mids, lows, frequency, and the ability to add more clarity and it has the extra 50DB the Shure SM7B needs. It has anything and everything that is recommended. Like WTF are you talking about. It's a $600 interface. It's totally worth every penny. I personally use the GoXLR paired with the cloud lifter for better vocal performance in the studio and it's even better. But everyone has there own opinions, likes and dislikes, or whatever. But just know that I I will not agree to disagree. I was just making a simple statement for those looking for a mid setup combo of studio and podcast vocalization.

    • @AG-le4ok
      @AG-le4ok 2 года назад +1

      @@thenewgamers7382 Yes. My bad, probably my statement looked like i said the goxlr is not a good interface in a "it's trash" kind of way but I didn't mean that, I mean that it's not a good interface if you're using it for singing (and music in general) because the video is about audio equipment for signing, not for podcast or streaming. If you're not into music then it has good features that might help you a lot, but if you're a musician/producer you won't even use those features because most audio engineers will prefer the raw audio from the mic and do adjustments with special equipment (just like a RAW photo, a photograper will prefer the raw file, wich looks flat and ugly for most people but it's the most versatile for editing, however, for certain people and scenarios a jpg from a smartphone will do fine and even better for those who don't do any kind of post production).

    SM7b needs very expensive equipment to drive to its full potential. Otherwise, it's just wasted. Rather go for a MV7 if you are still concerning with the mic price, rather than other equipments.
