Maybe you didn't work long enough yet? Requirements should be pretty simple for this.
Yea so I can tell you that money is a tiny problem to have. Even so, I don't expect any benefits from the government because it mostly does not apply to people who work hard. Never had benefits for unemployment, parental leave, home buyer grants, child care, etc.

I didn't meet the 2- year waiting period. Been here for over 2 years but they told me my first visa didn't count. Tough luck.
