@bettycogswell9851 First he put gun in closet by the front door, while they would be in bed. So dumb! But then took it out afraid Richie would get it. Bullet in music box with loud music. Then Laura sneaks out of bedroom behind Rob who has loaded the gun and doesn't know where she is. Ends up getting robbed anyway. 🙄😖🤷♀️
Dick Van Dyke's comment and gesture about, "Mark Seven", and the police detective's bewilderment, might have been an inside joke. Mark VII was the name of Actor/Producer Jack Webb's production company that produced the, "Dragnet", crime detective TV series. Barney Phillips, the actor playing the police detective here, was a regular on, "Dragnet", playing one of Jack Webb's detective partners.
An Electro sink center. Our neighbors had one of those, it had a red light button for hot water, and blue button for cold and built in scrub brush. Not really sure what else it did.
Frank Adamo played dozens of roles in the DVD show because not only was he an actor, but he was DVD's personal assistant behind the scenes of the show.
Johnny Silver..the photographer is in some eps too..the waiter at the restaurant where Rob and Laura are and Jerry walks in with that tall blond and not Millie.
I always wondered why Richie's room was on the other side of the house from Rob and Laura. In situations like this (if it had actually been serious) that would be so dangerous.
Pickles Conway; former showgirl. This episode could never air today. With Jerry "Helping" Rob and Laura with a rifle and ammo through the bedroom window.
yup - all safe & secure. Front door locked & chained but Jerry can show up and pass a rifle through the open window. Maybe go check on Ritchie first?? 😏🤔
My husband would say it's in the script (it was funny the first time he said it but after 48 years...🙄) but I believe it's because it adds to the storyline and/or comedic presence. Example: The laugh it gets when Jerry uses the gun on the blinds to wake them.
Something is not right here. They are afraid of a burglar but the window in the bedroom is open. How else did Jerry, their neighbor give Rob the rifle.
While this is funny, it also gives a great message regarding gun control, when Rob decides to hide the gun, terrified by how close he came to nearly shooting Laura.
Well. Trading comments : I love the dock van dyke show. The gun was only dangerous in a scared persons hand a trained veteran would know that firing a bullet into the air, the bullet has to come down as well as putting a joke in your roof. Then. Why wouldn’t Laura stay put. Why follow around your husband without him knowing she is following him?
Yeah, hee, he, haha....it was a "just" .22 bullet that killed my son days before Thanksgiving of 2007. Oh, but it was "just" a .22, it couldn't do any harm, isn't that just the funniest thing?!
@@jb6712 STAAAAHHHHHPPPP you're so dramatic and 100% a troll. Nobody here said a .22 couldn't do any harm. The statement was that it's "only a .22". Stop starting drama.
@@Kim-bp1kbI'd say that stating how funny it is that everyone is afraid of a .22 is implying it really can't do too much harm. Otherwise, there'd be no reason to be afraid.

Two entirely different types of comedy. Neither Ed O’Neill nor Dick Van Dyke would be able to play the other’s character. I think both of them are brilliant actors for the type of work they do. 😊😊😊
Decades before. And there's no comparison between DVD and Ed O'Neill, so what was the point of that useless comment? They are two very different kinds of actors; different methodologies, different forms of comedy, different deliveries...everything between them is different.
He's in a funny episode of the Andy Griffith show too..when Barney sorta accidentally knocks him down on Main st and the police capture him...he vows that he will be back to "get" Barney.
@dennisandry1632 Yes! That was a hilarious episode of "The Andy Griffith Show!" After he told Barney that he would get him, he breaks out of prison and then Barney does everything that he can to avoid him. When Andy finally figures it out, then he gets the bad guy, but he gives Barney the credit.
This is a good episode. Love it when the door opens and you hear the music box play.
One of the few series that makes me laugh out loud. DVD's physical variations and timing are golden.
I love Dick Van Dyke's physical comedy!😄 Thanks for the upload.💜

This is a good one based on a real experience of Carl Reiner.

Burger running around in your neighborhood you lock them both the front door but you leave the freaking bedroom window wide open makes perfect sense
And they're so confused as to how the burglar got in, when Rob at the end easily comes in through the rear basement window. LOL.
Burger?
Yes. The very dangerous Burger, who robs houses, and leaves a trail of ketchup and lettuce behind.
