If you're going to sit in the garage of one of the richest cities in the world eating food from gordon ramsay you're not concerned about the price tag. it's cheaper than i expected.
I just can not wait for Max and a comment he will hopefully make on how thrilled he is-NOT-about this entire greedy circus!! I hope he will feel like the World Champion he is!! Last year he said he felt like a ‘clown just standing there’

Sadly Vegas is Vegas. It shot itself in the foot by being initially overpriced, under staffed, not looking after the locals and the dedicated specators. One hit wonder.
Sadly, you're wrong. Prices for tickets event dropped about 20% since November of last year. pricing is similar to other US races now and because the hotels are walking distance to the track its easier, quicker, and cheaper to attend. EVERY new F1 event had issues.

As a Las Vegas local, and an avid F1 fan since I was 8 years old...I hope they don't sell out the race this year so prices will go even further down, and maybe I can afford to actually go to a race for once and get decent seats!

It certainly feels like the insane razzamataz of last season is gone and its' critics have likely accepted that it does work as a race and maybe one of the better ones. I see this one as with the visuals of Singapore with more overtaking. While more and more street - circuits is not what is wanted, i think Las Vegas could become one of the most rewarding ones.

Tickets don’t start at $2000. The LH44 3 day tickets for the West Harmon Zone were $700. That’s grand stand seating. GA tickets for 3 days were $500. Maybe 3 day Main straight Grandstand tickets were $2000. That will probably drop because they aren’t selling out 3 day tickets. The main grandstands weren’t even full for qualifying last night. They’ll be full for the race because of single day purchases. F1 has to get the hotels on board though. They were much better this year but F1 can’t impose fees on hotels with track views. You’d be surprised by how many people are here that didn’t even know the race was happening. That’s an indication the hotels did a better job.

What is so unfortunate about Las Vegas, it is not so much about the race but what happens around it (at least last year) such as the glamour happening. The stars and other famous people that you normally never see at F1 are really squeezed out here. And that it is not affordable for the average person to watch it in person and everything is blocked on bridges etc. as is possible like in Monaco, that is what you get when you race on a street circuit. The vibe is just off and because the residents hate what that track has done to the city I feel it’s hard to get hyped to go there. I think it was a big mistake to build that track. I think each year it will just get less and less attendees.

First - I appreciate your excellent coverage. As a Las Vegas local the reason I personally strongly dislike the Las Vegas Grand Prix is the way it commands public space for a private event for days at a time. The biggest insult are all the barriers attempting to block any glimpse of the action for those who haven't paid and the scores of security guards hustling people past any spot with an unobstructed view of the race course. Last night I heard the entire race from my window without ever seeing a single car. Instead of sharing in the excitement, it was quite dystopian.
Simple answer to the question in the title… yes. As an American I was embarrassed by all the carrying ons last year and then f1 media tried to prop it up as “one of the best gp of the year” and the reality is it just wasn’t.
99 overtakes, the most in any dry race since 2016. Overtake of the year in final corner on final lap. Looked like Max might not win on pace. How was it not one of the best races of the year?
Well, I think for visitors of the track that want toview the racing, street races never are great. You just do not get to see the overall situation on the track like you would e.g. in Brazil. And not a particularly large section of the track either.
It was one of the closest races last year. The distance between the top 3 was only 2.24 seconds, only the Australian GP had a tighter top 3 finish, a number of races last year were won by over 30 seconds,
Live in Austin and I’m soooooo glad I get my F1 fix every year 20 minutes away. Like Vegas (been over 20 times) and absolutely no way in hell would I go to F1 weekend in Vegas. Or Miami for that matter. 🙄
I for one as some from the US love the Vegas race I still think the track surface needs work but the low level of grip makes things interesting & kind of levels out the playing field IMO not to mention it was one of the best races last seasons I plain on going to the race next yrs if everything works out.
It’s too cold there at that time of year. Went to Miami in 2022 was hot but overall they did a good job. Other people I know went in23 and 24 and had a positive experience
The Dinner on The Paddock kinda sums it all up. Don't know when that was held, but it was 55°F at 6 PM and 48°F by 8 PM last night. They had a banquet in what is nearly a parking lot in conditions that likely chilled the food before they could finish it. The race starts six hours after sunset in conditions that barely allow the race to be practical at a time that makes it unwatchable for most of the local fans.
Cut down the black tarps off of the side of the roads and reduce the sidewalk security by half. I was staying at a hotel on the strip and had a terrible time because of the yellow shirt security. That is keeping me away this year.
@@nberge6 Why not? How do you sell General Admission tickets if people can just stand beside the track? It's a business at the end of the day and I'm sure if we look at where sponsorship signs end up for other racing series, they tend to be placed to block views from outside.
@@gturner38 I excuse your ignorance in not going to the 2023 Las Vegas gp. There was no general admission area. I had a room with a track view but the real problem were the security guards bullying people.
I'll be honest and say here that there is nothing more off putting than the bobastic over the top irellevant crap we saw last year. Laaaast year the F1 Event as a whole was nothing more than a side show, a necessary evil to have so that we can showpiece Las Vegas and the supercilious "celebrities" who are there for nothing else but to inflate their already over inflated egoes. Seriously, F1 could have done a considerably better job in Las Vegas with the amount of money they spent, and could have had a dedicated legacy track, meeting every sustainability parameter they set themselves and set the new norm for F1 as a whole. Their circuit could then have done MotoGP, Indy Series, F2 and F3 and a host of other categories like IMSA or WEC too. The current circuit is a lame duck flat track, abhorrently expensive and phenominally expensive .... barricading, closing off, gantry set up and removal, shutting down .... disruption all round that disrupts everything. Sustainability could have been assured by dedicated rail infrastructure for not only the fans but equally, every team too. Hubs from the Airport and from city center would link the track directly.
Ferrari incorporated that same sort of lighting effect into the Peroni sponsorship activation at the Canadian GP in downtown Montreal by shining the "spinning" lights on the wheels of a show car while playing engine noises.
I'm curious to see what attendance will there be this weekend. From all the emails i've received inviting me to the Las Vegas GP this weekend, it seems that the ticket sales are not going according to the plan.
I was so excited for Vegas. The first time I saw the prices I was crushed. I thought this year would be just as bad. Hopefully next year prices stay low and I will definitely go
Sort of, the first year it sold out right away so we bought tickets early this year, but close to the race there was still good places and seats to be had. Not sure if it jumped the shark, but it was still a success.
I understand the Las Vegas Formula 1 team worked very hard in year 2 to make the event better than year 1. Our experience was good last year and phenomenal this year and we felt the organizers listened and improved many aspects of the event. Congratulations LVGP for making this very special location for a race even better in 2024! I highly recommend this F1 race to anyone who enjoys F1. It was worth every bit of money we spent on the race.
I loved the broadcast last year. I love Vegas anyway, so getting to see the helicopter shots with all the lights and sights, F1 cars roaring around, and the possibility of seeing Max on the top step winning his 4th consecutive? This is a race to watch for sure.
As you know, when you get off on the wrong foot like Vegas did last year, it takes a lot of work to change people's minds about an event. Another crazy thing to me is the timing of the race. The only people that seem to like it are the FIA and Las Vegas Tourism. LVT are trying to get the best of both worlds of the tourism by pushing the race back. That start time makes the race lose it's local standard racing fare and for a lot of fans, like myself, turns into a record and watch later event. We'll see how it goes but overhyping an event is hazardous business.
Between Kym's updates and Amanda from Swell Entertainment/Girlypopgo reviews on the Vegas event, they're both channels I feel give in depth and fair, no bs info about it. Keen as to see if it picks up for the weekend.
I thought hullabaloo and razzmatazz was what Las Vegas was all about. Without that, Las Vegas is a pretty sad place. Actually. People posting that it was cheaper to fly to an F1 race in Europe than it was to attend the Las Vegas Grand Prix just because of the prices of tickets and lodging. It's the American way.
I think many of us who still watch your Vegas coverage is because you do great coverage! F1 viewers are stuck watching the race because we are dedicated F1 fans. WE don't have to like Vegas..
For Max to be 4 time world champion, he does not have to score 3 more points than Lando... Rather, Lando has to score 3 more points than Max to mathematically remain in the race for the WDC (and thus Max can not celebrate it yet).
in my humble opinion, Las Vegas GP is one of the best in reflecting on the real speed of the cars. Maybe it's due to the camera work, but it looks intense.
I’m a die hard f1 fan been watching for 20 seasons but i don’t think it’s worth more than $500 to me to see a race in person. That $500 is basically the cost of the flight and not even f1, food or accommodations. I have a dozen other hobbies where the cost of seeing a race would go way further and bring me more enjoyment. I’m okay with that, has never deterred me from watching a race on f1 tv.
The behavior of the staff last year was a disgrace to those who attended and paid for a premium event. Instead of receiving the experience they expected, they were met with rude behavior, insults, and a completely artificial atmosphere. Events like this should not be hosted in venues that lack even the most basic quality control. Guests were treated more like cattle than valued attendees. It's truly disappointing, and I hope this venue is removed from the calendar soon-perhaps replaced by another epic and historic track in the USA.
You seem like a great guy! Did you grow up in WA? I live in British Columbia but I rode motorbike from Cairns to Uluru then Coober Pedy Adelaide etc back i summer of '86/87
Lmao they were literally kicking people out from watching the Practice session because it was "too late" after they had to take the extra time to fix manhole covers that should've been addressed and taken care of well before...... Not to mention overpriced, understaffed, and a cringe-worthy overproduced driver introduction. Yeah this doesn't surprise me and honestly, glad people realized.
The Rich Play People have Hijacked certain F1 races as an excuse To Party. Miami and Las Vegas tracks are not good for racing. I live in Phoenix and looked at the cost to come to Las Vegas and for about the same "Monies" I can go to Brazil( A Real F1 Track) and Shanghai China for about the same Monies due to the "Jacked Up Prices" in Vegas - Also in Shanghai after race weekend I can do Disneyland Shanghai
They killed me last year..! I have a suite paid for at Caesar's for 5 days and I'm still undecided on going to the race. I may not even use the comp FP & Quali tickets..
For real fans it never had its hype. We want to see these cars on real tracks showing off it’s aero and full capabilities, not on a flat street circuit
F1 (European centric racing league) = HYPE, Glamour, Celebrities , exotic and exciting intl cities locales, expensive, VIP oriented, lees exciting racing Indy (American) = down to earth, affordable, family oriented, lots of middle America circuits, easy to meet drivers, garage access for minimal ticket cost
The US racing scene would be better served by dropping the horrible ill conceived Las Vegas circuit in favor of a purpose built one similar to COTA or Monza. Even rural Watkins Glen, in upstate NY, would be a better racing venue.
F1 is a European centric racing league. An American conglomerate company owns F1, but the Euro's run/manage F1 racing all over the world. The American open wheel league is called Indy Racing. The Americans run Indy. The Euro's run F1. Re: Las Vegas They have a road and oval at Las Vegas Speedway. Multiple American races there annually.
last years fiasco on Thursday last year I think turned a lot of people off of Vegas, and maybe its because I'm getting older, but the time is a turn off too. who wants to go to an event starting at 10 at night???
The only worthwhile track in the US for F1 is COTA, Austin TX. Vegas doesn’t need F1 and F1 doesn’t need Vegas. Miami, nothing worth mentioning too, in my opinion. 😊
Vegas last year did what vegas does. Overpriced everything and hyped up. Nobodys buying it. MGM and Caesars lost big money last year and arent planning more this year. Bizarre LV gets another us race and we get danica. Nobody wins. Its too cold and late for fans. Media have no idea about f1 and americans still bitchin andretti got the finger. I just hope Villeneuve stays home and dhuts up. All he says is nasty.
@@sadmermaid If you're a fan, you're already hyped for this weekend. You don't need the extra extravaganza to make you want to watch the GP. I enjoyed the music last year but it's better to keep it as a side event and let the drivers concentrate on their work.
@@gturner38 PR stuff is fine as long as its not going in the way of their work. They were overhyping the event last year and the drivers weren't happy. Live in Austin and I’m soooooo glad I get my F1 fix every year 20 minutes away. Like Vegas (been over 20 times) and absolutely no way in hell would I go to F1 weekend in Vegas. Or Miami for that matter. 🙄
Kym, it was good that you thanked those ladies in your outro...
I for one as some from the US love the Vegas race I still think the track surface needs work but the low level of grip makes things interesting & kind of levels out the playing field IMO not to mention it was one of the best races last seasons I plain on going to the race next yrs if everything works out.
they did a driver intro in texas a few years back that was perfect
66 pages of ‘VIP’ non paying tix. !?! 1Am start ! 6A London ! 45 degrees F ! Gonna be a Cold F1
It’s too cold there at that time of year. Went to Miami in 2022 was hot but overall they did a good job. Other people I know went in23 and 24 and had a positive experience
Thanks for your videos Kym, always great production quality.
Interesting take on the vibe this year!
Cut down the black tarps off of the side of the roads and reduce the sidewalk security by half. I was staying at a hotel on the strip and had a terrible time because of the yellow shirt security. That is keeping me away this year.
Black tarps are at every street GP.
@ well maybe they shouldn’t
@@nberge6 why should you get to watch it for free whilst actual f1 fans pay for their seats and tickets ? thats what the black tarps are there for
@@nberge6 Why not? How do you sell General Admission tickets if people can just stand beside the track? It's a business at the end of the day and I'm sure if we look at where sponsorship signs end up for other racing series, they tend to be placed to block views from outside.
@@gturner38 I excuse your ignorance in not going to the 2023 Las Vegas gp. There was no general admission area. I had a room with a track view but the real problem were the security guards bullying people.
99.5% of Las Vegas residents will gladly rid ourselves of this shitshow. We don't need it, and we really don't want it.
G'day Kym, just loving your content here from the UK, watched every video since i subbed 6 months ago, keep it up bud
Awesome! Thank you!
I went last year and had a blast. I’m hoping for a great race with things a little tighter at the front in 2024.
Kym another top platinum Vlog, you cover all aspects of the F1 events, that’s why “we do love your show” How are the new Canons going? Cheers Buddy
No complaints thus far
Ferrari incorporated that same sort of lighting effect into the Peroni sponsorship activation at the Canadian GP in downtown Montreal by shining the "spinning" lights on the wheels of a show car while playing engine noises.
Love your videos, thanks Kym!
You are so welcome!🤗
I'm curious to see what attendance will there be this weekend. From all the emails i've received inviting me to the Las Vegas GP this weekend, it seems that the ticket sales are not going according to the plan.
GA tickets are 1k including fees...
The "Deals" are not in the room with us.
People remember the damn high cost of attending this event!
You neglect the local population you lose.
So much tacky overpriced s..tuff.
Great insight. Thank you
As you know, when you get off on the wrong foot like Vegas did last year, it takes a lot of work to change people's minds about an event.
I would like to see it but I don’t feel like freezing my butt off watching a night race in Las Vegas.
Between Kym's updates and Amanda from Swell Entertainment/Girlypopgo reviews on the Vegas event, they're both channels I feel give in depth and fair, no bs info about it. Keen as to see if it picks up for the weekend.
We shall see Kym.
It had its issues last year, but it was a fantastic weekend, capped off with one of the best races of the year.
Bestest F1 coverage channel on RUclips!!! 😊
True! Tiny mistake by Kym, but quite relevant!
I've kind of lost a bit of interest without Danny Ric but still watch every now and then to see how Oscar goes
in my humble opinion, Las Vegas GP is one of the best in reflecting on the real speed of the cars. Maybe it's due to the camera work, but it looks intense.
Bad thing for the Las Vegas GP, Good thing for the sport.
It never had hype. Its not a race, its a show
F1 OWNS THIS RACE... This is their show.
@@esciteach7997How did they paid you to type this ?
Idk it was a pretty damn good race last year.
It was a great race last year. Yes, it has a show, but so does the Indy 500 and Daytona. Le Mans has concerts taking place during the race.
Imagine Yuki being sent back by the TSA... WTF is wrong with this country
Very strange to read that story. It is the usa though, enough said!
Too much Disney! Donald Duck, Cinderella and Mickey Mouse. Not much realism. 😅
This is so typical.
Last year: "Its OVERKILL! They are ruining F1 with all this glitz!". This year: 'What happened to the GLITZ? "
Interested in your broadcast Kym.
You make it interesting.
The fluff in Vegas, not so much.
You seem like a great guy! Did you grow up in WA? I live in British Columbia but I rode motorbike from Cairns to Uluru then Coober Pedy Adelaide etc back i summer of '86/87
I love overkill of Las Vegas!!! Thanks for sharing.
As an american I hate that the race will be in in the middle of the night. Equivalent to an Australian race as far as watching on the TV.
Its one of the GPs that I am not bothered if I miss. Add to that list the next two races after LV
The race turned out to be a good one last year though!
Absolutely correct, these last three events are so cringe.
Big hype for me was that BIG BALL!
Rest was "another venue" in dark - can't see anything anyways so no idea where it is 😆
They killed me last year..! I have a suite paid for at Caesar's for 5 days and I'm still undecided on going to the race. I may not even use the comp FP & Quali tickets..
For real fans it never had its hype. We want to see these cars on real tracks showing off it’s aero and full capabilities, not on a flat street circuit
F1 (European centric racing league) = HYPE, Glamour, Celebrities , exotic and exciting intl cities locales, expensive, VIP oriented, lees exciting racing
Indy (American) = down to earth, affordable, family oriented, lots of middle America circuits, easy to meet drivers, garage access for minimal ticket cost
My favorite part of Las Vergas is the celebrities & famous RUclipsrs ❤️
The US racing scene would be better served by dropping the horrible ill conceived Las Vegas circuit in favor of a purpose built one similar to COTA or Monza. Even rural Watkins Glen, in upstate NY, would be a better racing venue.
Exactly my thoughts. Make it like the Nuremberg Ring. Loads of sand just outside of the strip.
F1 is a European centric racing league. An American conglomerate company owns F1, but the Euro's run/manage F1 racing all over the world.
The American open wheel league is called Indy Racing. The Americans run Indy.
The Euro's run F1.
Re: Las Vegas
They have a road and oval at Las Vegas Speedway. Multiple American races there annually.
We have two purpose built road courses in California: Laguna Seca and Sears Point.
last years fiasco on Thursday last year I think turned a lot of people off of Vegas, and maybe its because I'm getting older, but the time is a turn off too. who wants to go to an event starting at 10 at night???
appreciate your down to earth assessment of the apply named BLING PRIX
Really interesting insight to what's really going on, thanks for that! Would never see this on Sky Sports
Seems to me like its just turned into a normal F1 race without all the Americanised circus.
This is one of the reasons why we Americans don't like foreigners! "Americanized" circus, you say! What the hell would you call F1 then!?
With all the Vegas glitz it sure seems dark. Maybe they should emulate Singapore track lighting.
The only worthwhile track in the US for F1 is COTA, Austin TX. Vegas doesn’t need F1 and F1 doesn’t need Vegas. Miami, nothing worth mentioning too, in my opinion. 😊
Look at Susie being a photographers dream mind, pleased to see you mate.
I think come race day its going to be full Vegas, thanks for the update!
Hopefully it’s a sell out!
Danica and ruddy crank Villeneuve😢 Oh joy ! I think they get their outfits at a thrift/ charity shop in the Ozarks. 😅
Such a great event. Other races should take notes.
Money. I would have went but pricing was insane on top if hotel and food etc.
It's better to have fans around than a bunch of people who just came for the hype.
Is there not room for a little hype?
@@sadmermaid If you're a fan, you're already hyped for this weekend. You don't need the extra extravaganza to make you want to watch the GP.
I enjoyed the music last year but it's better to keep it as a side event and let the drivers concentrate on their work.
@@leilegion It was a side event last year. It was on the media day when they would have been doing PR stuff anyway.
@@gturner38 PR stuff is fine as long as its not going in the way of their work. They were overhyping the event last year and the drivers weren't happy. And its not a side event when drivers are getting pissed and asking them to do this and that and highlighting events they don't need. Those events happen on the side, not as part of the main event.
