I tried to hire a car at LAX through Thrifty after an overnight flight from Aus and it took me 5 hours to get served. Welcome to the USA. 🇺🇸 What a nightmare 💩
I did Auckland to Buenos Aires in 2001, arriving same day hours before we left! On QF in a 744. In an exit row seat. What an adventure! Great vlog, love to see more interactions with your family, and how they perceive the luxury of your travels !
Are there other f1 Photographers out there? I ask because I feel bad for them because Kym iIllman is killing it with these blogs. This is one Monopoly I do not mind.
That domestic business class flight is absolute robbery! Looks closer to budget European airline standards than mid-distance business class! Great video as always though Kym! Appreciate the effort and production value that goes into your content
European business class is literally economy class with blocked middle seat. The domestic hard product is literally bigger with more leg room, that’s much better than European budget carriers and business class.
Spent so many hours perth airport!!!! Great to see the tips and tricks - was lucky enough to have carry on for an hour transit from LA-Miami-Rio so avoided the changeover issue!!! Enjoying the channel!! Hoping the fire at Cervantes stops heading south Kym!!!
Love all your videos, Kym! The F1 vids, travel vids, behind-the-scenes vids, it's all awesome! We always look for you during the F1 broadcasts and usually catch several glimpses of you every race weekend; we yell out "and stay passionate!" every time. I just received my order of your bucket hats in both colors and love wearing them. Keep up the great work!
I have never crossed the international time/date line, but I sure lost a day or two in my drinking years. I am in southern California so this is about as close as we get in the corse of the year. enjoy your time in the states and in las Vegas. Stay passionate
7:30 You mustve been really tired Kym, you dont lose a day going east over the International date line, you gain a day! As a fellow Aussie its always one of those fun and yet perculiar things we get to do when we fly to the west coast of the USA, we arrive before we left!
Love Kym’s videos! Did make me wince a little when he pushed open the screen on the A380. I see a few people do that - it’s not very well labelled but there is a button that opens and closes the screen automatically. Not a big deal of course and glad to see he still likes the qantas product.
Very good Kym. All I have to do get some time to visit your great land. We live on the east coast in North Carolina near Raleigh. Our son did a semester at a university in Australia years ago. He covered the country and loved it. Thank you for sharing your trips.
I've been making mental notes of how you rate food and while I understand the integers, I am often bewildered and very amused by how you assign the decimals. Keeps my interest piqued. Definitely more engaging
Singapore Airlines, is by far the best airline for everything. Especially redemption for premium seating. Crew is the best, Airport is the best. Revenue is exceptional. Local staff in Australia made 7mths Bonus this year.
Not from London. Literally a mile walk from check in to the lounge. Made that mistake with a young family and pregnant wife in 2016 and never went back to using them.
4:55 Hello Kim, I really enjoyed this Video 👍I just wanted to Point out that Emirates and Qatar are Both very profitable Airlines so for example Emitates made a 3 Billion Dollar Profit last year alone
Hi kym we flew from Vagas to LA last month on a airline call JSX. They were great small 30 seater jets it was from a small airport so very quick, easy and cheap you would like it they fly around other places as well.
Tonya is a P1! Well obviously someone like to travel QF alot. I figure that you may travel more but you fly different alliances and you also use points when you can. Good to see that Qantas First has a seat that can stack up to the competition, I personally don't care if there is a door that only goes up to shoulder height or an open suite that QF has. I have only had 2 good steaks in the air. QF from LHR and EK from DXB. Evidently the secret is the ground kitchen needs to only sear it on both sides as the heating process on the plane galley will then cook it to medium rare. However some countires food standards won't allow this so the meat must be cooked further then it will be overcooked when it is reheated.
Hey Kym Enjoy your travel and behind the scenes videos. Just with international transfers having to clear customs and immigration in the USA I have heard the reason they do it is in the case that if a passenger has to leave the airport due to a cancellation or delay and they need to be accommodated in a hotel. Also when departing the USA there is not customs and immigration check point like in the USA.
Kym, when you land in LAX as a Qantas Gold or above, you can also go to AA flagship lounge when you have an Alaska Airlines ticket too. Definitely an upgrade on the Alaska lounge.
The old 737 aircraft that Qantas runs between Perth and the east coast are shocking for such a long flight. At least you didn't get the oldest aircraft in the Qantas fleet - a 22 year old 737 that routinely travels to/from Perth.
In regards to people saying you shouldn’t review Emirates, I think that is probably just mostly xenophobia. I think the fact they are state owned is commendable given the level of product they offer. I mean, in the UK our government can’t even fix a pothole on the road.
You’re right, nobody in their right mind would choose AA. I really want you to hub through SIN and try Singapore Suites (via The Private Room at Changi).
I do Perth to Sydney, then overnight at the airport Rydges; AC Sydney to Vancouver to Calgary. Total travel time about 36 hours but you don't arrive all knackered.
Thats not bad. Last year Sydney to entering the hotel 26 hrs 10min. From Perth thats impressive depending when the clock started. Mine was walking out my door in suburban Sydney. I would have wanted a delay to enjoy the first lounge in Sydney.
Highlight for yourself Kim must be the arrival of the Canon R1 production cameras to compare against the pre production R1 cameras and your current R3 bodies in both still and video output
Do you start booking as soon as the F1 calendar is confirmed, or do you set up alerts on Google Flights and book as the prices improve? There must also be a family meeting to figure out who is going where, and where will the holidays be. This sounds like there's an excel spreadsheet involved.
Kym, you should do a video on what you would do if F1 hindered your ability to do business and make money for almost a week (every year, and you knew it would happen).
Kym, quick question for you…. How difficult was it for you to transition from driving on the left hand side of the road in Australia to driving on the right hand side of the road in the USA after a long flight ✈? I’d imagine it could be quire a challenge if your tired from a long flight and have jet lag.
Still amazing how we went from some bipedal beings walking out of the Rift valley in Africa, to living all over the place...organising our silly sports where we move a set of 20 cars, 10 teams, loads of support staff and photographers all over the world in metal tubes in mere hours / days. All the while receiving fans also from all over the world.
I have crossed the international dateline 10 times. Does this mean I am ten days younger ? I will be shifting my birthday ten days into the future to compensate ? Is this correct, Professor Brian Cox ?
Great videos Kym. From a fellow Perth dweller. I don’t know how Qantas justify charging the same from PER to east coast for business on a 73 as they do for the A330. Also, which airline reward program do you get the most benefit from?
I once left my wallet in the seatback pocket and wasn't able to get it back unfortunately. Luckily was only out about $12 in cash and was just inconvenienced by not having ID and credit cards physically handy. Jace is lucky!
Having a steak in an air plane is like having the vegetarian option at a steak house. It's not a rare event that it'll not be a particularly good meal.
There's a high chance I controlled your flight into or out of Vegas, depending on which way you go! (I'm ATC) Enjoy the weekend Kym!
If so, you’ll be happy to know it went without a hitch
I love ATC videos on RUclips man . Straight props to you folks , you are friggin wizards .
Thanks Kym where would F1 be without you!!
That’s very kind of you to say!
Finding and returning the headphones is top notch service. I would've just assumed they were gone forever.
That has to just about be a world record for getting through LAX immigration and customs!
I tried to hire a car at LAX through Thrifty after an overnight flight from Aus and it took me 5 hours to get served.
Welcome to the USA. 🇺🇸
What a nightmare 💩
It is exceptionally quick but I had a similar experience a couple Of weeks ago so can confirm it’s possible
If you have Global Entry, it’s that quick. I walked out of airplane to the custom for Global Entry and no line. Scanned my face and walked through.
45 minutes June 2023 arriving on Emirates.
That 45 minutes was waiting in the Queue for immigration.
Still beats Miami...
I live vicariously through Kym riches in these videos LOL...
I did Auckland to Buenos Aires in 2001, arriving same day hours before we left! On QF in a 744. In an exit row seat. What an adventure!
Great vlog, love to see more interactions with your family, and how they perceive the luxury of your travels !
Plenty more to come
Are there other f1 Photographers out there? I ask because I feel bad for them because Kym iIllman is killing it with these blogs. This is one Monopoly I do not mind.
Michael Potts F1 Photography is out there, but he does not post as frequently as Kym.
I remember my trip to Sydney. Las Vegas to Sydney on Quantas. I was not expecting all the humidity. Welcome to Vegas!
The intro of this video was really cool Kym! (First 11 seconds) Its been nice watching you become more engaging in your filmmaking!
It’s a never-ending grind and I’m glad you enjoy it
Nice to be reminded of the gate to transit to International at SYD Domestic, thank you. Enjoy the F1 festivities!
That was definitely the most enthusiastic “Stay Passionate” in the history of the channel!!
Love all your videos, Kym! The F1 vids, travel vids, behind-the-scenes vids, it's all awesome! Thrilled to hear that Cory. Many thanks.
Loved seeing you with the family, wife is very cute, son got your hair ❤❤❤
Just brilliant Kym
Thank you for taking us along for another impressive journey.
Appreciate that!
Thanks for setting time aside to share your travel experiences, Kym... much appreciated. Have great time in Sin City.
Thank you! You too!
Hello Kym, so lovely to see you and thank you for sharing, it's like I'm travelling with you! Greetings from Greece 👏❤️
And back at you
I have never crossed the international time/date line, but I sure lost a day or two in my drinking years. I am in southern California so this is about as close as we get in the corse of the year. enjoy your time in the states and in las Vegas. Stay passionate
I'm always appreciate of the work it takes you to do these vlogs, Kym. Thanks for all the dedication to the sport and keeping us entertained. :)
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words.
Lancelin would never get on RUclips without you!
7:30 You mustve been really tired Kym, you dont lose a day going east over the International date line, you gain a day! As a fellow Aussie its always one of those fun and yet perculiar things we get to do when we fly to the west coast of the USA, we arrive before we left!
Of course you do. My error.
Love Kym’s videos! Did make me wince a little when he pushed open the screen on the A380. I see a few people do that - it’s not very well labelled but there is a button that opens and closes the screen automatically. Not a big deal of course and glad to see he still likes the qantas product.

I’m flying there suites next year and can’t wait

Your F1 Content is AWESOME! keep it up!
4:55 Hello Kim, I really enjoyed this Video 👍I just wanted to Point out that Emirates and Qatar are Both very profitable Airlines so for example Emitates made a 3 Billion Dollar Profit last year alone
Well, my US audience tells me it’s not fair to compare those airlines with US airlines. So maybe it might be fair.
ouch , that bump with the head in the end...
Bro how are not as big as house ! That was a lot of food. Great video
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
I appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome to the US Kym! I really enjoy your videos!
Cheers! Thanks for watching.
I know a four letter word followed up that head knock. 😂
Great video as always, love the pilots watch you’re wearing.
Brilliant video, thanks Kym 😃
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can’t wait to see some Vegas photos with an R1
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this....what a great travelogue.
damn 7k + for 1 R1 lets hope it lives up to its price, Kym!
I don’t think I could build one for that money, though
You’d think with the amount of flying you do you’d be use to the low overhead lockers 😂 great video.. enjoy the LVGP 👌
Love these travel vlogs!
Good viewing Kim !
Hi kym we flew from Vagas to LA last month on a airline call JSX. They were great small 30 seater jets it was from a small airport so very quick, easy and cheap you would like it they fly around other places as well.
Noted
Jayce following in Kym’s habit of leaving behind items everywhere 😂😂😂
0:44 I put up that Display.

Enjoy to see Max winning the championship again!! 🎉
That headbump in the outro looked painful, but still made my day. Sorry Kym. 😀
Kym, when you land in LAX as a Qantas Gold or above, you can also go to AA flagship lounge when you have an Alaska Airlines ticket too. Definitely an upgrade on the Alaska lounge.
Thanks for the tip
Enjoy Lost Vegas , those a 380 a nice long haul and the Airbus350 is very nice as well. Enjoy the dry heat ..😉
Static electricity is a big problem here as is a dry throat
More like dry cool at this time of the year. The desert cools off quickly in fall/winter when the sun goes down.
Quality Kym👍
If you get a chance, the Cuban sandwiches at McCarren are fabulous.
Those ticket prices are insane.

Big trip mate! Was in Lano on the weekend for for a birthday party 🎉
Did you get out to the dunes?
You’re right, nobody in their right mind would choose AA. I really want you to hub through SIN and try Singapore Suites (via The Private Room at Changi).
Doing it mid next year. Can’t wait
@ good timing, they’ve just upgraded the champagne list again. Will be on there next feb (second time, but it’s a huge treat for us), LHR TO SIN.
another travel vlog 😍
Yep. You get one every time I go from race to race.
I do Perth to Sydney, then overnight at the airport Rydges; AC Sydney to Vancouver to Calgary. Total travel time about 36 hours but you don't arrive all knackered.
Montreal is a similar grind for me when I go from Australia
@@KymIllman I have a daughter who moved to WA so I'm there once or twice a year.
Who's that lady doing the "stay passionate"? She's great haha!
“Where are your headphones Jase?”
“Pre-boarded”😂😂😂
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
LAX immigration has vastly improved over the last few years. I have the Global Entry pass so most times I am out of there in less that 45 min
Thats not bad. Last year Sydney to entering the hotel 26 hrs 10min. From Perth thats impressive depending when the clock started. Mine was walking out my door in suburban Sydney. I would have wanted a delay to enjoy the first lounge in Sydney.
Clock started in Lancelin, 90 minutes north of Perth
Highlight for yourself Kim must be the arrival of the Canon R1 production cameras to compare against the pre production R1 cameras and your current R3 bodies in both still and video output
Hi Kym. Wondering what camera/lens/mic you use for your walk around vlogging?
Canon R5 mk2 and rode ntg
I love Australia, ready to help an Australian woman to immigrate to the US if she can get me to Oz
Viva Las Vegas!!!!!
I got tired just watching all those flights. i'd arrive dead 😂
That ticket price...I almost fell out of my very economy-class seat ☠☠
Good morning Kym.
Do you start booking as soon as the F1 calendar is confirmed, or do you set up alerts on Google Flights and book as the prices improve? There must also be a family meeting to figure out who is going where, and where will the holidays be. This sounds like there's an excel spreadsheet involved.
I do and we use Google Drive
12:36 is that one of those tesla trucks behing kim? In the wild!
Kym, you should do a video on what you would do if F1 hindered your ability to do business and make money for almost a week (every year, and you knew it would happen).
R1 review please Kym 🙏🙏
I’m interested what does Tanya do for a living to rack up so many points?! 😮
Kym, quick question for you…. How difficult was it for you to transition from driving on the left hand side of the road in Australia to driving on the right hand side of the road in the USA after a long flight ✈? I’d imagine it could be quire a challenge if your tired from a long flight and have jet lag.
You have to do immigration and customs at the first landing point in the US because pre-911 domestic flights departure gates weren’t secure areas.
Next time try JSX from LAX to LAS. Semi private jet service.
Noted
Marvellous happy you can afford the business class but as an average retired punter I'd love to see what the basic flight was like.
Las Vegas GP tickets were reduced in lead up maybe slower sales after Ricciardo departure about month out...
I have crossed the international dateline 10 times. Does this mean I am ten days younger ? I will be shifting my birthday ten days into the future to compensate ?
Is this correct, Professor Brian Cox ?

Beggars belief
Hi Kym, did you had any trouble adjusting from Right-Handed cars to Left-Handed Cars when you travel?
Never
I could never eat as much as you did. :-)
Kym have you ever taken the Australia to New Zealand to New York direct flight from Qantas
I have
Good vedio mate 😊now on the way back do it in economy class in the middle seat and the middle row😂
That would’ve been me circa 1987
Vegas traffic is already bad, I can only imagine how much worse it is this weekend
I am a stay passionate 😃
I once left my wallet in the seatback pocket and wasn't able to get it back unfortunately. Luckily was only out about $12 in cash and was just inconvenienced by not having ID and credit cards physically handy. Jace is lucky!
Kym actually looks like the lead singer of the pet shop boys go figure
My son Jayce had his photo taken with the man you speak of in Hong Kong many years ago
It’s 9k but you don’t get qantas first class lounge and spa
Qantas all the way ❤
Having a steak in an air plane is like having the vegetarian option at a steak house.
It's not a rare event that it'll not be a particularly good meal.
Hi Kym, I'm would love to know how you handle customs with your camera gear. thanks.
that is one reason I have not gone to Bathurst
Ouch!
You coulda done it in 2 flights? Perth-London on Qantas and then London-Las Vegas on BA or Virgin?
Better get onto Neil Perry about the steaks !
