Install A New OS on Your Android

Lineage OS is an Android based operating system, for mobile devices, which gives you the ability to update your phone with the latest software. Lineage supports a wide range of mobile devices. In addition, some Lineage OS variants require you to have a certain Android version on your phone, in order to install software. Go to Lineage OS .ORG and then click devices to view supported devices.
In this video I will be using a moto one 5G Ace Motorola phone. It was originally loaded with Android 10, I received one free upgrade to Android 11. Then the 2nd half of 2024, Android 11 was no longer supported. Afterwards, I began to look for an operating system that was compatible with my cell phone. There were a couple, but ultimately I chose Lineage. If your device is not listed, click Other model and it provides additional information.
There are definitely several things, that you should be aware of. First, variants list different features. You should ensure you select the right variant. I don't have a moto g 5g nor a dual sim. I have a moto one 5g ace. So I chose that variant. You will need a PC and a phone to complete the change. before I updated anything, I clicked through all of the links and reviewed the packages. so that I could be prepared before I started.
I also reviewed phone specifications, in order to ensure my phone matched, the information which was listed on the the page. Please be aware that the installation instructions don't have the actual download builds. Click on downloads, in order to download the package, before you follow the installation instructions. I downloaded the boot, recovery and the VB meta images. The installation instructions do have additional downloads, that you'll need in order to successfully install the application on your mobile device. including Google products.
To clarify, not only do you need to have the phone unlocked by the carrier, you also need to have the bootloader unlocked. I purchased my phone unlocked, from Motorola . However, to install another operating system on the phone, I also needed to unlock the bootloader. The Lineage OS instructions do provide a general unlocking process, but you may also need to go the the phone manufactures website for additional instructions. In my case, I went to the Motorola website. Motorola detailed what you needed to do specifically for your bootloader to be unlocked. Once I followed those instructions. I was sent a link within one minute. so the process is fairly fast and it didn't inhibit installation.
The Lineage OS instructions were very detailed. I believe you will successfully be able to follow instructions, in order to install the operating system, if you follow them correctly. However, I also used a RUclips video, which was very helpful. I will put the link to the RUclips video in the description of this video. Overall I rate this operating system a 5 out of 5.
