Great show but occasionally I have to laugh at some of the lines when Tony was being given a bollocking by his his boss and he said to him"Your a wreck, your home life's up the shit and you drink to much" I could not help laughing at his insight considering Tony's life has never been any different than as he explained it at any time during the show, with Detective work like this I am amazed they sort out anything haha
Nothing like a warm welcome. I think I can say with certainty that was nothing like a warm welcome. Could they not find a more damp ridden office for them?
At least you aren't trying to get him stoned to death for adultery this time. You might have a point (as much shown as fiction on TV usually has some truth behind the stories.)
Didn't like it??? I am surprised the HO let the BBC broadcast it, and/or didn't ban it!! Leaving aside Clark's personal life, there were some very hard hitting topical storylines. For its time, early'90's, it was pretty ground-breaking TV. Still appropriate today too.
The outcome of this episode is supposed to display the honesty of police? The very Department which is supposed to prevent corruption purgers itself to protect the reputation of an abusive policeman and exonerate him and the entire Nick who were complicit in the murder of that police officer. I LIVE IN A CITY WHERE THE POLICE WERE SO CORRUPT THE FEDS HAD TO COME IN TO CLEAN IT UP. I bet there isn't a single police department which doesn't have at least some crooked officers who are protected. Allow them to all cary automatic weapons like in the US and you have a recipe for tragedy.
The episode isn't "supposed to display the honesty of police". It's made quite clear that the decision not to pursue the complaint was not taken lightly. It's a morally ambiguous situation, with strong arguments both 'for' and 'against'. Ultimately, Clark is clearly unhappy about brushing the facts under the carpet, but what's the alternative ? If the truth were revealed, an aggressive thug like Keogh would likely win a large pay-out and public confidence in the Met would be harmed. Norton's colleagues, who seem like decent people who were appalled at the violent behaviour of their workmate, would also likely lose their jobs. Is that really more desirable than what actually happened at the end of the episode ?
Bilton and Standish were getting their arses kicked by that thug Keogh and Norton dealt with him. Id have wanted them hung out to dry for what they did!!!!!
Jesus the dialogue and writing in this show can be so cliche and incredibly cheesy at times huh?! That opening sequence in the parking garage between the WPC and the detective with the whole preserving his dignity and the response was cringe as hell. Actually every scene Chief Inspector Boone was in was brutal.
Absolutely a brilliant series thank you.
Surprised at the low number of likes...
Great series. thanks

Oh shit, a young Ser Bronn of the Blackwater!!
I'm willing to bet Home Office didn't like this series very much.

instead of putting more unrelated comments, why not go read the background of that era ('70) in uk police. it might calm u (or not).
@@orinkay838 It's early to mid 90s.
