I found Gemmel late despite being a child of the 80s. Not sure when he crossed the pond, but I love his stuff. Great fantasy done short and more often than not, stand-alone volumes. Bite-sized fantasy books are so rare, and they shouldn't be. Not every story needs to be 700+ pages.
Best way to read em for me was in chronological order so Legend is book 9. I have not gotten there yet. Only downside is they are all kind of same-y so reading them back to back can cause burnout.
Huge fan of David Gemmell! Cool to see people are still reading his books.
I have read everything by Gemmell. Except the Swords of Night and Day. I kinda don’t want to read it since has died. If that makes sense.

Love the Drenai series. Great stories around 300 pages and they are great for palate cleansing and getting out of reading slumps.
I love this series. I’ve read 5 so far and plan on reading 1 of the Druss prequels soon. This book was badass. Just remember it being so unique.
If David Gemmel is the Louis L'Amour of fantasy who is the Zane Grey?
Robert E. Howard
@@traviscook8111you may be right about that. Nice!
I've never read another author who could pack so much into about three hundred pages. Each book is like a tiny epic story.
You are exactly right
Yep love Gemmell full stop.

Interesting order to read them. Makes sense tho
