Happy to review such a fun book, you deserve praise!
Not really pumped about RUclipsrs trying to write (huh, Daniel Greene...), and with such a cover I would never have picked up that book.
That said, plenty of fantasy races, a world ending story, for adults (not watered down), solid prose (! Much needed for me), I'll probably give it a go, so thank you 🍃 (to you both)🍃
@@ChristmasLore Brian has been an author way before the booktube days haha
@@thefantasynuttwork , I thought as much, but was too lazy to check 🍃
Weirdly enough, writers getting a booktube channel are not getting big ones, it's always intrigued me.
As well as the position, to review your own peers work...I can get why most avoid it. I can also get why you would do it, being a writer doesn't mean you stop being a reader, so...
Have a great day, best regards from...France🍃
@@ChristmasLore appreciated, happy reading!
Damn, an R-rated take on classic fantasy tropes sounds like so much fun, definitely looking forward to picking this up. Thank you for the review!!
My pleasure 😁
You did such a good job here of summing this book up! I’m so excited to get to The Blackest Heart and get more in this world
Thank you Abby 😊
This series has been on my radar for a while, but you sold me! Love your description that it’s a an R-rated take on the classic tropes. Also cool that Durfee is planning to squeeze such an epic series into just a trilogy!
These books are huuuuuge! You'd probably love it!
great review! This pushed things over the edge for this one to go on the TBR for me. I loved the little bit at the beginning about the physical book, too!
Awesome to hear and thanks! I really hope you enjoy it 🤓
You're shaping up to be the best reviewer on booktube. Seriously awesome review!
I really appreciate it, thank you!
my tbr cant do this anymore! sounds like a really great book exploring some pretty cool ideas
Rid our TBRs are infinite as we keep recommending each other things 😂
Thank you for the review. Happy reading to you! 📖🎬📚
Appreciate it!
Yeahhh! Great review, brother! Glad you enjoyed this one!
Thanks!!
I loathe lengthy descriptions but I LOVE these books. He does a thing I call deliberate description. It plays into the story instead of detracting from it. The second book gets darker 😏 I really love Nail. Definitely has more in store for Ava. The Blackest Heart was AMAZING!! I'm going to have a hard time picking my favorite book of the year between The Blackest Heart and Project Hail Mary. "The book could have been longer." Never thought I would agree with this statement. (Edit) I'd also like to point out that this book has a PLOT!! Epic fantasy with a plot?!? What?!?
I really enjoyed TBH as well (filmed this a while back) and was very impressed with how fresh he kept it over all these pages. I did have a bigger issue with one particular thing in book 2 but overall thought it was an improvement over book one. I am really excited to see where book 3 goes!
Fantastic review! I'm starting The Blackest Heart next week and can't wait :D
Enjoy!!
Great review! I own this book and I'm looking forward to reading it. I'm a big fan of Brian's booktube channel.
Thank you!
Great review!
Thanks!!
You've definitely sold me on this book! Added to my ever growing TBR.
The pile never seems to shrink 😅
I'm about 300 pages in to The Forgetting Moon it's a pretty dark and gritty book I love his prose it all just flows together there is a lot of characters but that's fantasy this Trilogy definitely needs to be read by way more people, new to your Channel great review
Thanks so much!
Thanks for actually talking about the ACTUAL physical aspects of the book. So many reviewers completely skip that. I have no book store I can go to so knowing how the book actually feels and what is like helps. Nice to know before ordering online. As for the review, it sounds interesting philisophically.
Thanks!
Mate your reviews are the best! Gained yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you 🙏
Great review, Jimmy! I have this book on my 2021 tbr 🙂
Thank you Navi 😁
Great review!! You sold me (although I've had it on my list to buy).
Thank you 😊
Such a great review! I love how you approached this and yes i absolutely agree with everything you've said =) loved talking to you about this =)
Thank you Joana 😄
Your book reviews are phenomenal!!
I gotta definitely pick this series up. Memory sorrow an thorn as well
Thank you so much
Definitely planning to get to this. He seems really well read and I trust he knows what he's doing.
I hope you enjoy!
Sounds good! I don't know when I will get to it but it is on my tbr.
It'll be there when you're ready 😄
Definitely for fans of Tad Williams and John Gwynne. As good as any modern fantasy I've read. Perfect blend of classic and modern. Loved the review, this series needs a lot more love on booktube. This should've been a five book series.
Agreed!
Nice review, you speak well.
I just finished this book and I was hooked from the first page.. getting stuck straight into the 2nd one.
Thank you 🙏
Great review! I loved this book, and The Blackest Heart. Durfee writes so well. Just awesome, in my book. But the cruelty, what happens to that guy (you know who) ... man that is disturbing. (because you know things like that happen in the real world. I look forward to your Blackest Heart Review.
So rough! Thanks for watching
Yessss Tala is also my favorite character from Forgetting Moon.
She's so good!
I recently read The Forgetting Moon and was definitely NOT Disappointed! I have The Blackest Heart and am eagerly anticipating The Lonesome Crown! I love Brian Lee Durfee's Book Reviews and his writing is even better!
Agreed!!
This will probably be on my wild card list for next year. I don’t own any yet but I think I he will wrap it up in a timely manner.
Supposedly spring 2022!
Just started reading this!
Enjoy!
The exploration of the religious theme sounds interesting. Thank you for the recommendation. I'd like to get to know Beer Mug, that's a great name indeed!
Thanks for watching 😁
Top five booktuder for me. Have this on mine kindle and love John Gwynne so eager to read this series.
Thank you so much, means a lot!!!
Great review Jimmy!
I like that you mentioned the merfolk as that isn't something I've seen often in my fantasy reading. I always thought of something akin to Little Mermaid and couldn't take them seriously until playing Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (Gameboy Advance) where they are a bit more fleshed out and real/gritty/tragic. The religion angle of this intrigues me, along with knowing Durfee's personal connection to Nail gives it a legit feel (I imagine, we'll see!)
If you enjoyed the religion aspect and you're curious about that being explored in a sci-fi setting, I think you might also be interested in Ada Palmer's Too Like the Lightning (Terra Ignota series). I've only dabbled in it (part of my "First Chapter Sampling Sundays / Reading ADD") so I may eat my words here, but so far it has me wanting to continue!
Love to hear more recommendations for religious themes. I'll add that to the tbr, thanks dude!
Here for Jimmy's shirts ...and the awesome book reviews 😜
I have some new shirts I'll be wearing, even some ASOIAF ones 👀

Great review, I have it on Kindle but now that you've mentioned about quality of paperback, I might get paperback 👍
I hope you like it!
My already extensive TBR better not be added to because of this.

Dammit Jimmy! You did it again.
My pleasure 🤣
I'm just waiting for book three to come out before I read. Hurry up Durfee!
I'm impatiently waiting now hahah
blown away by this series
It's so good!!
I have read both books, great epic fantasy.
They're truly epic
Great content! Can you review the second book in the series, please?
Possibly at some point, thanks!
Brian’s 3rd book comes out in November!!
I'm very excited!
Well this sounds awesome i am totally sold and it is narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds so i can get it as Audiobook.
Audiobook is really good!
how many pages are in the paperback? is the book the same sizes as blackest heart and lonsom clown? I don`t mean in thickness I mean in size I have the other 2 books. I mean do they fit in size of each other.
They’re all the same size yes
I probably would've started the series already but for some reason book 3 still isn't available for Irish and UK (I'm sure its unavailability is applicable elsewhere) readers yet.
It had a really strange release
Saga Press are releasing Elric illustrated hardcover s at the end of the year.
Good to know!!
I cant wait for those
Ya he seems like an interesting cat for sure, books look really damn good
Absolutely!
OK FINE! I'll read it, jeez. Lol
😎
It would be criminal to not read this book after hearing such praises😬
It's worth it 🤠
I'm going to watch your video and review tomorrow, but curious is it scifi or fantasy?
Fantasy 🤘

@@thefantasynuttwork one thing I loved about his books is how the prophecy element remains vague, he knows how to keep you guessing and intrigued about the meaning of the dam thing. Btw did you get to a part were there is a battle happening and there are petals flowing in the wind or am i confusing certain parts of different books?
@@benjaminmolina3456 I can't recall actually, but I do agree the prophecy is awesome!
