A smooth sultry jazzy type of R&B feel to hit that hit airwaves not only on video music, but in the R&B radio airplay too. You don't find music like that in our era.

I'd forgotten how amazing this song is. What an amazing voice! Robbie Nevil was born with one hell of a soul bone buried deep in his brain; I remember thinking at the time that this was the best funk/soul I'd heard in YEARS, and the video captured the trashy Sideshow Vintage that was everywhere. And he's probably the only musician to ever use a Tilt-A-Whirl as a percussion instrument. Classic Depression-Era,Long Beach Oil-Well Kitch! Timelessly delicious! And brilliantly written.

andie monroe Same here. I remember thinking this was Kenny Loggins when I heard it on the radio, then I saw the video. He cut 2 great early CDs. Had a crush on the Asian woman in this video.

My wife looked at me like I was crazy when I knew the lyrics and starting singing this... lol.. never knew who the artist was till now... damn , I miss the 80”s and 90’s... life was way easier and simpler...
Fall/winter of 1986 as a little kid (4th grade) growing up in the 1980s watching this video and singing along to this song on MTV! When MTV was actually all about music! 1980s music had si much harmony, melody, message, and a super cool overall vibe!
I used to groove to this as a little boy while riding with my pops in his car, so grateful he exposed me to different kinds of music, I'm 34 now, miss the 80's culture that I was introduced to during the early 90's.
It’s good as an adult too. No need to be cool and act like you understand anything as a kid. You didn’t. You are replaying it as an adult and unwilling to move off your original idea that you got it as a kid. I watched Popeye as a kid in 1980 at 3 and I didn’t get it but it left an imprint. Stop acting cool
This was my all-time eighties hit by Robbie Nevil at the time when I first heard it, I said to myself this would be a top ten hit not only in the pop but R&B section. This was by far a feel good hit when music was true music in the eighties.
I came here to relax after a rather long walk from Boston to Natick, Massachusetts and back. I felt the lyrics 'C'EST La Vie, that's just the way it goes" would be fitting lyrics for a 55 year old male seeking to stay fit. Actually, I typically walk much farther...I have walked from Portland Maine back to my hometown of Hollywood, California in the past. This was just a 'test run" in light of my having recently gotten over a foot injury and wanting to push the envelope physically..."that's just the way it goes..."

hotmama love ... not true at all. Nevil's next single, "Dominoes," hit #14, and the third single, "Wot's It to Ya," hit #10! Nevil is NO one-hit wonder!
57 yo professional musician. Love the greats of many decades. This is my favorite song!
close is donna lee - charlie parker
I was 9 or 10 yrs old when this came out😂This was my Jam and still is to this day❤I need a time machine to go back to the 80s 😊those was the days!!
classic … I almost forgot about this song but as soon as I heard it .. I instantly remembered…. and the video still looks good as well.. it’s crazy to think that this came out around 86 ….. time flies
Listening January 22, 2020. I miss this type of music. I grew up in the best decade watching music videos on MTV early 80’s 🤟🏻🎶
Amen amen rock on
I’m back listening and watching this cool 80’s tune 🖤🤟🏻🎶
andie monroe Same here. I remember thinking this was Kenny Loggins when I heard it on the radio, then I saw the video. He cut 2 great early CDs. Had a crush on the Asian woman in this video.
@@seanswinton6242 Never thought about it, but you're right, he _does_ sound like Kenny Loggins.
When you hear a song the video comes up to that song
I remember this when I was s kid in elementary school.. heard it on old school jams and it brought me here. My wife looked at me like I was crazy when I knew the lyrics and starting singing this... lol.. never knew who the artist was till now... damn , I miss the 80”s and 90’s... life was way easier and simpler...
Antony Jackson in 1986 i was 7 and remember this song so well....
like ones say--things can only get better, RIGHT! Tell me when. L.O.L!
Antony Jackson I lived my teenage years in the ‘90s, miss that decade, now, ‘80s’ music is my absolute favorite 🥰
@@lilienlambare I was born in the 70's, 80's music just had a resonant beat in my perception.
Let's not the 60s as well.
Fall/winter of 1986 as a little kid
(4th grade) growing up in the 1980s watching this video and singing along to this song on MTV!
When MTV was actually all about music!
1980s music had si much harmony, melody, message, and a super cool overall vibe!
89s was the best era for music
I used to groove to this as a little boy while riding with my pops in his car, so grateful he exposed me to different kinds of music, I'm 34 now, miss the 80's culture that I was introduced to during the early 90's.
Same! I'm 17 and my dad always plays his 80s CDs in the car. Makes me miss an era that I wasn't around for.
80s
It’s good as an adult too. No need to be cool and act like you understand anything as a kid. You didn’t. You are replaying it as an adult and unwilling to move off your original idea that you got it as a kid. I watched Popeye as a kid in 1980 at 3 and I didn’t get it but it left an imprint. Stop acting cool
@@jjgreen5206 No one is trying to act "cool" just sharing memories... but thanks for your opinion.
80's were definately the best decade to grow up in! Still listening in 2021!!
This song fitted right into those "work hard play hard" late 80s!
So true. I miss the 80s.
They played it on Snowfall and I flipped it’s been in my head since , we 💃 our little hearts out when this came out❤
Same 😂
Watching Snowfall now season 6 and heard it, which caused me to look up the song and see your comment. 😂
What a 1980's masterpiece, I love ♥ this song \ music forever!
So glad no one tried to remake this. One of a kind classic. And whether in a Walmart, or a Jewel, I cannot help myself to not sing along.
Robbie Nevil - C'est La Vie :Tanto tiempo ha pasado y este tema sigue siendo una obra de arte musical.
I always loved this song. I really never realized how awesome his voice is!
Happy 65th Birthday Robbie Nevil!(Born October 2, 1958)😃🥳🎂🎉🎊🎈🎁🍾🥂👍👏🙌
I remember back in 86 when it was released and it brought great memories.
This was my all-time eighties hit by Robbie Nevil at the time when I first heard it, I said to myself this would be a top ten hit not only in the pop but R&B section. This was by far a feel good hit when music was true music in the eighties.
One of my childhood favorites! Still sounds good in 2024!!!
Yup! This song sticks with you.
This song just sounds like the 80’s
I bought the single in 1986, played it on my record player on repeat until my mum begged me to play something else 😂
I have the album. Lol!
HA HA HA.. I LOVED PLAYING THIS 45 SINGLE TOO
So did i..lol
The 7””Single has wots it to ya on the B side I think???🤔🤔🤔🤔
Play on play on
I miss the 80s. Worked at a radio station for 3 years then. Best time of my life! Everything about the 80s rocked!!
The 1908s. Best decade to have been alive.
You’re actually still alive, a century later?
I came here to relax after a rather long walk from Boston to Natick, Massachusetts and back. I felt the lyrics 'C'EST La Vie, that's just the way it goes" would be fitting lyrics for a 55 year old male seeking to stay fit. Actually, I typically walk much farther...I have walked from Portland Maine back to my hometown of Hollywood, California in the past. This was just a 'test run" in light of my having recently gotten over a foot injury and wanting to push the envelope physically..."that's just the way it goes..."
For some reason this song takes me back to the glory days of 1986....
Love it back then in 1986 ...still loving it very much in 2024...
I love this song. I'm 78 baby. Still a classic
Sing it Robbie!!! I love this song 💖
Often overlooked jam from the late 80s! Great stuff!
This song has such a simple yet infectious bass line.
This is timeless. Never thought I would hear it shopping at Walmart!! Couldn't wait to download on my playlist. Oh yeah, I'm 78 and I miss the 80s too. 😊 young at heart and still full of P&V. 🙃
I was nine when the 80 started and goddamnit it was fucking amazing!! We had everything. Music, tech, clothes a future. Fuck today!
