Hi Sathy, I appreciate your wonderful work. I have been a great rail fan since 1995 at the age of 10. I was so fascinated to watch the WAP 1 and WAP 4 locos for the first time hauling the legendary GT EXP 2615 back then. Travelled in TN EXP(SR King and the big boss) several times as it is the top priority train between MAS and NDLS for the right timings and limited halts. I believe the speed of the train was reduced to 110 prior to which it had done 125. Also wish to thank Mani Vijay sir for his videos that I watched way back in 2005 on Google videos (RUclips wasn't available back then I guess)

I have been traveling in Tamil Nadu Express form past 4 years. The only problem in this train is it does not overtake GT express for 9/10 times so if GT is late Tamil Nadine is also last. N it has the best security in all SR trains.
Overtaking G.T. express is not a big deal as there is not even 3 hrs gap in timings in their departures from Chennai central, I.e., g.t departs at 7.15 pm and tn departs at 10 pm but, gt is having atleast 20 - 25 more stoppages enroute to New Delhi than tn express and in fact, gt reaches NDLS at 6 am whereas tn arrival is 7 am, 1hr after gt express arrival in NDLS. Factually speaking, gt express wins this race down under...👏👏👏👍
Good information... but the video in the beginning is not Tamil nadu express . Thank you.... I m traveling in this train since last 30 years .. one of the fastest non Rajdhani train of those days. Some how I love TN express so much.
Nice video .. yes it is one of the iconic trains of IR. I have traveled in this train back in 1979 when it was hauled by a single WDM-2. It had very few stoppages .. Nagpur -> Bhopal -> Jhansi -> New Delhi ( note .. no stops even at Itarsi , Gwalior and Agra ! ). The train was actually faster back then and its timings would probably compare very favorably with the Chennai Delhi Rajdhani of today . I still fail to see why this train has not got LHB coaches as yet ..

Yes this is one of the most popular train in central railway between ND to CHENNAI nd this train is first India superfast train between Nd to Chennai before shatbaddi express which is run between Bhpl to Nd.nd at present time this is known as southern king train on no 1 nd we always travel for Chennai from this train ,good timing nd only 7 stopage between N.D TO CHENNAI Centrl
Teegaon is a technical stopfor attaching bankers for gping up the Teegaon-Chichonda 1:67 gradient. The bankers are detached at Chichonda for 12621. Similarly for 12622, bankers are attached at Darakhoh and detached at Maramjhiri.
Wikipedia says this train is accident prone.. because of its high speed , after major accident they reduced its speed in 1981. This train was rajdhani part 2.

It was also introduced in 1976 with unique livery of Skyblue and cream colored coaches, never seen on IR thereafter. It used to cover the distance of 1970 kms in 28 hours.

The history is................. 121/122 TN Exp, 123/124 AP Exp, 125/126 Kerala Karnataka Express all had 14 coaches with single WDM2 LOCO operation, when they were introduced. 125/126 used to be split in Jolarpet. One half to Bengaluru and one half to Thiruvanthapuram. TN was tri weekly and AP and KK were bi weekly. In 1979 April when the new time table was introduced, 121/122 was converted to 21 coach train with twin WDM2. Then by April 1980 both KK and AP were converted to 21 coach trains. There used to 2 rakes for TN, 1 for AP & 2 for KK. The 3 trains used to have a crack schedule which was better than today Chennai or Blr Rajdhani. TN used to depart NDLS by 7am in the morning and be at Chennai Central by 1250pm next day. AP used to be in Sec'bad by 545am next day morning, leaving NDLS by 7am. After an accident near Sirpur, buffer times added and the schedules became loose. The 300km stretch between NGP and Itarsi was single line excepting for the steep sections like Teegaon to Chichonda and Maramjhiri to Darakhoh. In 1982, before Asiad, TN was made 4 times a week as was AP Exp. Kerala was bi weekly and Karnataka was bi weekly - being separated. AP and Karnataka used to share the route via Sec'bad. Karnataka used to run as per the Blr Rajdhani route. TN used to leave NDLS in the morning, as also Karnataka. AP and Kerala used to leave NDLS at 2pm. AP and Karnataka used to arrive NDLS at 0740 hrs in the morning. TN and Kerala used to reach NDLS at 1250pm. There used to be one train called Jayanti Janata Exp which used to run five days a week from NZM to Cochin - the days Kerala was not there - leaving NZM at 0915hrs. In 1987, all 4 trains were made daily. TN got the schedule of today, AP got to keep its then scehdule, Kerala got the schedule which is almost as of today - but Jayanti Janata was scrapped (only to be introduced as Mangala Exp in 1990 via BZA, Gudur, Jolarpet. Later Mangala was routed via Konkan). 3 Karnataka routes came up. 2 days a week via Sec'bad, 4 days per week via BZA, Jolarpet and 1 day a week via current route. In April 1989 time table, Karnataka became all 7 days via current route. Schedules kept on changing like this..........There is a lot of history which is different from what you have described.....TN / GT used to run on WAM4 between BZA to MAS, then between NDLS-ET. It was during 1993-96 sometime that ET-NGP was electrified. So while TN/GT used to run MAS-NGP on WAM4/WAP4, AP used to run on 2xWDM2 from SC to ET. Hardly 100 electric locos were made in that time period. Mumbai to NDLS was being put to electric traction and there was lot of demand for electric locos from that route....
