Hi. I started this pillow a couple of months ago, and finished the front side. The backside is halfway finished now, finally, after major health issues for my husband, so I am so happy to finally finish it. I am using a dark orchid red heart yarn and an ivory yarn for the center of the front. You are such an amazing teacher. I seem to be adding an extra dc every round. Does my ch2 count as a dc in every row? If I do a beginning chain of 51, how maybe dc should i have in the 2nd 3rd row?
Do not count the turning chain as a dc. If you start with 51 chains and work your first dc in the 3rd ch from the hook you will have 49 dc's. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching.
The detail is always in the description area below the video. It states: See written pattern for size adjustments: crazycoolcrochet.com/crochet-waffle-stitch-pillow-free-pattern/ The multiple is 2 plus 1.
You're very welcome. Yes, a zipper is a great idea. I would do it manually. Pin the zipper in place (pillow cover right side out) so it doesn't shift. With needle and matching thread use a simple straight stitch, going through the yarn and zipper. Work with the zipper open so you can grasp the zipper and pillow cover while you sew. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching!
I would start a starting chain of however big you want the blanket to be, and if you end up with a couple extra stitches at the end that you don’t need on your starting chain, you can clip the starting chain and it will knot when you pull the string…or you can leave them unworked and tuck that piece in at the end. I’ve done this with other stitches when there is no actual pattern available. It’s not that hard.
I'm so happy you like this! I'm so sorry about the noise you are hearing. I am seriously hard of hearing so I never even noticed it. Is it a total of 30 rows going up?? Or after completing CH row 1 and row 2 and 3? Only because when I did 30 rows in total it wasnt completely square. Yet 34 rows seems to be? I used a tape measure to get it square ? I'm a newbie really so am a bit confused
Hi Lisa. It would be 30 rows in total. However, there can be a lot of variables that would make it not exactly square. For example, your tension and the yarn you used. Some yarns are thicker than others even though they are labeled the same #4. And some yarns are much more stretchy. Your tension might be tighter than mine which would result in a slightly different end result. As long as your finished panel fits your pillow it won't matter if you have 30 rows or 34 rows. Crochet is an art, not a science. LOL. Enjoy the process and the end product and it's all good!
@@CrazyCoolCrochet Thank you with the 55 chain it works out like 34 across so thought it would have to be 34 up as well. I need it to fit an 18 x 18 cushion but the insert hasnt arrived yet for me to measure against so I'm kind of working blind at the moment. With a tape measure it's working out 14 inches across (without the single crochet and 12 upwards with 30 stitches should the cover work out smaller than the cushion?? Thank you so much for responding 🙂
@@lisaphillips2712 It's ok for the cover to be smaller because it should stretch to fit. Mine is 16" square but stretches quite a bit and fits the 18x18 insert nicely. 14" makes me a little nervous. LOL Worse comes to worst you can just keep adding to the sc border to make it fit. (It does sound like your tension is tight.)
What am I doing wrong? I have counted and at the end of each row, it still doesn't come out right, I have either to many chains left or not enough.... help....struggling .
I'm so sorry I lost track of this comment. I can't tell you what you're doing wrong without seeing what you're doing. All I can do is say pay attention to the instructions very carefully. It does work. I have had countless people work this pattern successfully. Hopefully you've already worked it out.

Hello! I’m sure I’m missing something simple but I’m really struggling. No matter what amount of chains I do I can’t get this pattern to work. I am trying to do a 9x9 and I’m starting with 41 chains. After row one I have 39 dc. When I get to the point where you say we should have 3 dc left before completing round 3, I always have 4 left, not 3. I can’t get the waffle pattern to line up. What am I doing wrong? 😔
Thank you for reaching out. It looks like I described it weirdly for the end of that second row. While there are 3 DC's remaining, there is also the turning chain. I say to enter the two DC's and then the 3rd DC goes in the turning ch. In effect, we are skipping the last actual DC. That's how it looks in the vide; I don't actually have access to the pillow as I am in the middle of moving. I hope this helps.
hi, my pillow is rectangular sized, i saw in your other comments to do a multiple of 2 plus 1 to get the amount of beginning chains, but should i begin with the width or the length?
I would not recommend two strands. If you use two strands it will make the pillow cover bigger and stiff. The stitches will not look nice. You can certainly try it to see how it looks and feels.
Valid point! And a crazy coincidence. I have been planning to do a tutorial on how to add a zipper to crochet pillows (or bags, etc.). AND I was going to use this pillow for the example! So be on the lookout for that in the next few days. Another option, depending on the yarn and pillow insert...is to wash the whole thing in the washing machine. Thank you for watching!
Hi. I wanted to reply right away because this can still be salvaged. Hopefully, it's only a little bit off. It was probably a tension issue. If your tension is tighter than mine then it would turn out smaller. You should still be ok if you just add more rows of single crochet for the border. Try that. It should be fine.
@@CrazyCoolCrochet thank you for the quick response. I actually did one pillow cover that worked ok, I think I used a larger hook on that one. Just wish I could remember what size it was.🤣
Yes. The pattern will fit an 18 x 18 pillow. Adjust size by adding or subtracting the starting chain in multiples of 2 plus 1 and adding or subtracting rows. Thank you for watching!
Sounds like you didn't watch the video. LOL! Right at the beginning it shows 18 x 18. If you need other sizes you can also read the other comments or see the "description area" where it says "Show More". Thank you for visiting!!
Thank you for clarifying! I wasn't sure what you were referring to above. The UK equivalent would be an Aran yarn. #4 worsted weight in America. I hope that's what you were asking. (I Googled it.)

HiHi, may I know how many chains needed for rectangular size? Thank you ☺️
Use a multiple of 2 plus 1 to determine the number of chains. Make the foundation chain long enough to fit your pillow.
hi, my pillow is rectangular sized, i saw in your other comments to do a multiple of 2 plus 1 to get the amount of beginning chains, but should i begin with the width or the length?
I would start with the width; the long foundation chain.
How can I do it colorful?
I'm not sure what you mean by colorful. You can use a multi color yarn to make it different colors. Hope this helps.
Mam.Can I use two strands of 4ply yarn together
I would not recommend two strands. If you use two strands it will make the pillow cover bigger and stiff. The stitches will not look nice. You can certainly try it to see how it looks and feels.
can i use a 5.5mm hook instead and will i get the same results
I used a 5mm so depending on your tension, using a 5.5 mm might result in a slightly larger panel. Thank you for watching!
You stitched the whole cover by putting the pillow inside. So how will I wash the cover. Each time will I stitch it again. That's not doable.
Which yarn material use this?
I discuss the yarn at the very beginning of the video.
Hi what in English is equivalent to what your using in your video
Janice Ixer - I think it’s triple crochet stitch in U.K. terms.
Lucie Taylor treble
How many should I chain for a 15×15 inch
Start with a chain of 47. Or use multiplier of 2 plus 1. Thank you for watching!
@@CrazyCoolCrochet thank you sooo much. I love your channel
Love the pattern but mine came out too small for an 18×18 pillow. I followed the tutorial, #4 yarn 5mm hook 55 chains what am I doing wrong??😥
Just wish I could remember what size it was.🤣
Combien de chenette?
Should it measure 18 x 18 inches?
Yes. The pattern will fit an 18 x 18 pillow. Adjust size by adding or subtracting the starting chain in multiples of 2 plus 1 and adding or subtracting rows. Thank you for watching!
Great thank you I’ve done 75 chains to start.
@@lindalowe1384 For the 18 x 18 you start with a chain of 55.
How to make this 16 x 16?
Chain 51. Thanks for watching!
What size pillow is this pattern for?
Please watch the video. It tells you right at the start.
What size pillow? 16, 18,20 ?
Sounds like you didn't watch the video. LOL! Right at the beginning it shows 18 x 18. If you need other sizes you can also read the other comments or see the "description area" where it says "Show More". Thank you for visiting!!

Wool that is lol
Thank you for clarifying! I wasn't sure what you were referring to above. The UK equivalent would be an Aran yarn. #4 worsted weight in America. I hope that's what you were asking. (I Googled it.)
Stitch, not space.
This basket weave stitch is not like the pattern that she shows
This is the WAFFLE stitch.
How many rows and does that include the double crochet row?
Please watch the video. Your answer is in the video and yes, the row count includes the dc rows. Thank you!
@@CrazyCoolCrochet in the video you say repeat rows 2 and 3for 30 rows..
@@susanschmidt9227 Correct. At 10:11 it clarifies "a total of 30 rows". The total row count is 30.
