  • In this video, Signature Tyer Rob Edmunds talks us through pulling tactics while reservoir fishing for trout on Draycote Water. On this day, he switched to fishing Boobies and Blobs after getting interest, but no commitment, when fishing snake flies. He talks us through the setup he uses for pulling flies, as well as the patterns he selects. Then we go over the thought process behind it, the retrieve, and some other general tips for stillwater fly fishing.
Rob Edmunds is a stillwater and reservoir fishing expert. He began fly-fishing at just 4 years old and match fishing soon became his primary focus after first representing England at just 16 years of age. Rob has won nine European titles both individually and as part of a team. He's also an avid fly tyer, and is responsible for many of the popular patterns we now take for granted (Nemo, Tequila Blob, Traffic Light Buzzer, Snake Booby etc.). In recent years his focus has shifted slightly to targeting specimen trout. As such, he's currently the only person to have ever caught at least 1 "double figure trout" from all 4 of the Anglian Water Reservoirs. Needless to say, when it comes to stillwaters Rob is a wealth of knoweledge!

Thanks Rob, great instruction as ever. Keep them coming as we’ve all still got loads to learn. Some of us live 4 hours or so from a decent reservoir so don’t get much of a chance to try out all the subtle arts of boat fishing. Cheers

A nicely put together video, but please don't call it FLY fishing, spinning would be much nearer the mark
