@@Rebnirak187 yes… humans can be horrid… like people who cut down entire habitats just for a stupid palm oil farm… but like in this video, there are definitely good-natured humans out there, and that gives me hope.
I wouldn't label rodents as the dumbest creatures on Earth. But, highly intelligent? Sort of undermines primates and canines. Do some cardio in the meantime.

Now THAT is a rare trait, he went above and beyond to provide her everything including friends! Lots of parents that don’t consider their human kids needs on the level this guy did for a mouse!

They are cute. I just wish they weren't so destructive. They really can do a number on your home and vehicle leading to very expensive repairs. But at the same time I could never ignore and not care for a baby or injured animal.

My cat brought home an albino mouse. I tried to release it, but my cat brought her back the next day, without a scratch. I think my cat knew she needed help. So now she is Princess, and has a lovely little mouse habitat and is utterly spoiled. I’m pretty sure she is blind and deaf, but boy her sense of smell is powerful. She becomes animated and plays with my 2 kitties from within her safe environment, jumping around and racing a bit. So small, and packed with personality. I can honestly say, I love my brave little Princess, who withstood the jaws of a cat, twice! May she live a long little life 💕

I’ve done this before! When i was 14 i woke up every 3 hours to feed the baby mouse we found in the walls. She’s now back outside once she was ready!

Pretty profound comment at the end there as well, when he says he knows she values her life just as much as any other animal. It's us who say they're vermin. And i know in groups they can be very destructive. But they want to live as much as we do and if destructiveness is the measure of how valuable a life is I have to say we humans aren't doing too well there.
What would you do if no matter how clean you trying to keep your place, no matter how much you trying protecting your fruits and vegetables, and so many other products, and this cute mouse comes and chew everything up, even the plastic containers where you keep your bread, fruits or vegetables? You would eventually set up a mouse trap to get rid of it. They're are like roaches 🪳🪳🪳

PSA: For those who are thinking about getting any rodent pet, don’t get wire wheels like the one in this video. It can cause injury or death. Get a solid wheel with a solid back so no one gets hurt.
These little creatures are really rewarding to earn the trust of. I’m so glad this man got to experience that

Imagine a world where everyone was like him, each in his own way, beautiful hearts and souls full of love, kindness, and the intelligence to understand everything and everyone around them. Usually dogs and cats are animals saved by humans, this is new and cute.
I watch groundhogs, raccoons, opossums, sterlings, cows, pigs, bees, eagles, chipmunks, bats, wombats, geese, squirrels, bears, and so on, being rescued by people.i rescued ravens and guinea pigs with fetal syndrome from bad breeding, without eyes and teeth and deformed paws for 60 years.

I rescued a little mouse in may 2021 his name is Bobby and he are 9 months now I love him so much and this warmed my heart❤️

I have two house mice I captured back in 2020.They share my bedroom with me. They watch me and I watch them. They are amazingly clean little critters and I have really enjoyed their company throughout the pandemic.
They are great pets. They seem to live about three years. They can't get enough of the Flying Saucer mouse wheel and I finally had to add weight and padding to keep it quiet all night. Amazing energy, and endurance.
There is a reason why mice are in so many children's stories--they are adorable, admit it!

I love animals but I can’t with mice. I had to kill 2 babies recently cuz I had nothing else to do with them. Phobia of mice always grew up around them. Wish I could’ve made it painless tho but I left them in a box during a snowstorm and they froze to death

How kind of you Jon to take on the care of this adorable little mouse. Most people are either afraid of or disgusted by mice, which is sad. My daughter has owned several pet mice over the years and they do recognize you if you are interacting with them on a regular basis. They are really very sweet and industrious creatures. Kudos to you for your compassion, and may Fiesty enjoy a long and happy life. I absolutely love Fiesty's ears, so adorable!

I watch a ton of "the dodo" videos. Along with other rescue and shelter stories...This one hit me different. I am moved by the fact that Jon, saw what most consider a rodent as a living being and a beautiful soul to be nurtured and loved.
yes I sure did. I do wish the word rodent hadn't become synonymous with pest though. Most people don't know that beavers and porcupine are in the rodent order (Rodentia) as well. There are more rodent species than any other mammal.
As someone who's had hamsters, I've become very attached to rodents, no matter how pesky they are. Almost all animals, even bugs, can have little personalities that make them unique and endearing. Being a Human is weird, falling in love with other animals and wanting to take care of them like our young, but in a world were Humans need more happiness I think thats a good thing.
I feel the same way! I have a hamster and Guinea pig and after having my hamster especially seeing little mouse or mice being trapped and caught by the mouse trap I feel upset and thinks it’s cruel. I just think in my mind what if it was my little baby that was caught

Omg someone else that has done this nice to see. Everyone thought I was crazy to do this. I can't let everything suffer without trying and I'm glad I did. My mouse lived 6 years. I like to think she lived longer then she would have in the wild. I enjoyed taking care of her they are pretty amazing for such a small animal.

@@someone3187 well it's a bit of a sad story. We found him at an old mill that was like a museum.. We literally thought he was a piece of fluff on the ground.. But then he started moving.. He was covered in dust and fluff .. Still a little pinky.
Took him home and had him for about a year... One day he got out of his enclosure and after a week of looking for him we found him outside smashed flat on the sidewalk. ☹️
So long story short... About a year. 🐁

I adopted a male mouse from a rescue who couldn’t be safely paired and it blew my mind how sweet and engaging he became with me (would groom my nose in joy when we played).
It convinced me to become vegan: if one mouse could contain so much personality and appear to feel so much, no more excuses about how some animals we abuse must not experience much and are fair game for however much suffering and terror we choose to inflict. He was much more emotionally complex and intelligent than I expected and an amazing little designer and builder. Thank you, Willoughby, the other animals I’ve rescued and adopted since would feel the same if they could know how you opened my mind and made me a kinder more committed person.

Ppl have no idea about rodents I have hamsters and they are all different
I totally get it. I was at a meeting in and old church when all of a sudden this gerbil shows up and walks right up to us and sits down and looks at everyone with the look of OK who is going to take me home? He locked eyes with me and so began a love story 💕. I had him for 14 months. Every day the first thing I did in the morning was feed and water him. Every evening when I got home from work I cleaned his cage and put out more food and fresh water. It was pretty amazing because I never thought a gerbil would become my pet and with such a unique personality and capacity to interact and show affection.
Thank You Jon, you're amazing, you gave Fiesty an awesome Life, you are my kind of person for sure.

I went through a very similar situation and I can’t began to describe the love I have for my little ones. They have so much character and personality. Everyday they make me smile so I try to do everything in the world that I can to return the happiness that they give me. You never know where you are going to find love or what kind of package life will bring it to you in.

I never thought I'd become the kind of girl who tears up at the cuteness of animals and babies and watching heartwarming acts but here I am...tears running down my face over a little mouse. Lol. It definitely gets worse with self isolation, age and less sleep lol

I found a baby mouse in 2001. He became my son, and lived with us for 5 years. His name was Basil - after Basil the rat in Fawlty Towers. "He not a rat - he a HAMSTER!" We loved him so much. So smart! We did think he was a native Dusky Footed Woodrat (aka "Packrat") but it turned out that Basil was a Deer mouse. I still miss him so much! Good friend tells me to write a children's book about Basil. I've been gathering notes about his life to do just that...
I vaguely recall that from Fawlty Towers. Watched only a few episodes but was a great show as most British comedies were.
Sounds like that would make for a nice children's book. And a great illustrator would really bring your Basil to life.
