I love how it is both futuristic and retro at the same time.
I am from Wuppertal, Germany. We have such a system since before 1900. That system is noisy with steel on steel wheel to rail.
It is not very good to live next to that train because of that.
Advantage is that the carriage swings with curves and passengers can stand easy with the swing. Therefore fast. The Schwebebahn is dual track. Most of it over a river the length of town.
I'm from Ipswich UK. I have traveled on the Schwebebahn, and it is a marvel, wish we could have one in my home town

What do they do when two trains meet in opposite directions?
It doesn't happen because their stops and go are scheduled unless the driver breaks the rules
CRRC has built a maglev monorail (line 2) in Chongqing that is quite and almost noiseless using magnetic levitation off the tracks rubber wheels on the sides that can travelled 160 km/hr.CRRC has built two maglev lines ,one in Changsha,the red line in Beijing and is building 9 more in other cities.

What is the advantage of a suspended railway structure compared to a normal elevated railway with the tracks above street level?
Leo Salminen monorails have the capability to navigate much steeper inclines than regular trains and as such can be built in mountainous locations where other trains would fail. They are extremely sensitive to snow however so are seldom built in colder areas. The suspended monorail solves both of those problems, as the track is sheltered from snow but it can still operate in the mountainous territory that conventional rail can’t.

oui. On peut se consoler en se disant que ce monorail et celui de Chiba en sont les héritiers.
ErebosSan oui. mais c'est dommage qu'il n'ait pas été mis en service à Paris (il paraît que c'est à cause du nombre trop insuffisant de voiture dans le convoi).
