What a wonderful video! I always dreamed of knowing Japan. I am Brazilian, living in the city of Santos, on the coast of the State of São Paulo. Here it is a very vertical city, with tall residential buildings, and some are famous for being completely crooked, because of the sandy soil. I've never seen a monorail working. There is a project to build a monorail in the city of São Paulo, which is a big city like Tokyo, surrounded by suburban areas. This video is from a Tokyo suburb, isn't it? I wish the best for the people of Tokyo, for the people of Japan, who have a very disciplined culture. My Japanese students are an example of educating other students.

Thank you! Yes, this Shonan Monorail is about 1 hour south of Tokyo, in the suburbs. I love Japan and their culture. I also really love their trains including the Shinkansen high speed trains, JR commuter trains, subways, maglevs, and monorails! Everything fascinates me when I'm traveling in Japan. I have never been to Santos yet, but I've been to São Paulo many times and I've ridden the monorail there. (I have several videos from São Paulo and Rio if you want to watch them.) Have a nice day!
Obrigado!

@@Luke_Starkenburg Oh! Thank you very much for answering me and for your comments, Mr. Luke. Look how interesting! He was in Brazil, very close to me. I really like the city of São Paulo and I walk there a lot, but look how curious, I didn't even know that the 15 Silver line, which is the monorail you filmed, was ready. I think I'm going to try it out there. Especially because I have a friend who lives next to subway line 2 Green, which is where line 15 departs from. Thanks! And yes, I will watch your videos about Brazil and also about other countries. I like it. Congratulations for the channel! I'm subscribed. The Santa Tereza tram was one of the rides I most enjoyed in Rio de Janeiro. Not to mention adrenaline when two trams cross that hill. Terrible accidents have already happened there, but it is quite occasional. If one day you come to Santos, you can try the tour on our VLT, but I can't say that it compares with the others you have already done. Part of the tour is urban, but in certain sections it is possible to see the beach. Just a curiosity, I'm not wanting to be indiscreet, but where are you from, Mr. Luke? English? American? Thanks! And it's fun to write in different languages, like Japanese.
Oh!

@@Luke_Starkenburg Yes, I will watch the videos about China, which is a huge country with a lot to be seen too, right? I thought you were from Chicago, because I saw that there are videos about this great city on your channel. I know that Chicago has a big Aquarium. I think it's the largest in the United States, am I right? And the city breathes the air of the Great Lakes and has an importance in history, as I remember, it was the scene of Al Capone's performances, am I right? I plan to visit Chicago one day... but only after discovering the wonders of the two American coasts. I have a route plan ready for Chicago, (starting with Boston or NY, passing through Buffalo/Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago) which would be for my possible 3rd trip to the USA. I haven't even done the first one yet. And it is difficult at the moment, due to the high value of dollar in Brazil. My president's fault! The worst president of all times of Brazil... but it will change... I'm using the translator sometimes too... but I speak english, spanish and portuguese!

At 8:56 there is a support structure with pylons either side of the guideway. These look petite next to the massive pylons used elsewhere.
I hadn't realised until looking at a map, after watching this, that one terminus is close to the sea. I'd assumed they used safege/suspended design because it was above the snow line. I guess the narrow roads means this hanged over the centre with fewer pylons.

    Excellent camera work
From a visual perspective it Looks like a nightmare waiting to happen. I don't know what technology/ and engineering is being used though, but wouldn't being on top of a support beam make more sense. I wasn't paying attention, even missed the Japanese characters and thought it was somewhere in China at first. A monorail would make sense in Japan

If you are a sic-fi film fan, you may recognize this technology. The original French Safege test track was featured in the 1966 Truffaut film of Bradbury's 'Fahrenheit 451.'

Good morning, and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel. The time is 8:47 A.M. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa Compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times.

This would have been great for NYC after MTA demolish the old elevated structures around the city. Would have been an alternative to the current subway system.

Could have worked for the 2nd Avenue corridor had they used their brains. Boring tunnels in an immensely crowded West Manhattan was & still is a stupid observation. The line is basically independent so there really wasn't a need to go heavy rail. Just my two cents tho.

This is in response to Du Calvin about the monorail being too loud. The Chiba Urban Monorail, built 18 years later, uses the same technology and is much quieter. You can barely hear the train flying by right above your head. It is fast and very quiet.
